I know the ps4 has some new features being added to the client like remote play, the ability to stream, and keyboard/mouse support. But, aren't those features already built into the ps4 anyways?
The pc client is 9.74GB and the ps3 is little under that in size. Why or better still what is the ps4 needing 38GB for?
I know nothings been said yet just wondering what your ideas might be. Reasonable guess as to why?
Also any dev or community rep response would be helpful. Not that the size matters much but it be nice to know. I'm still excited for this weekends beta but curious none the same.

Yeah, thankfully its compressed really well cause the download was only like 10gb. It seems to be a trend with this next gen consoles, BF4 is 40 gb, Assassins creed is 24gb. But a bigger filesize for the most part is usually a good thing in terms of quality.

The download is 11gb, but the data is compressed and is unpacked during the installation process. If you click the options button and go to information its 38gb.Quote:

It's a bunch of reserved space most likely. Otherwise things such as what happened to me with the old Xbox 360 version of FFXI will happen. A new expansion will come out, and you wont be able to install it on the HDD anymore since with all previous expansions adding up to it, it would be larger than the common HDD was at the time with nothing else on it. Surely that's less of an issue now that they come in Terabite formats, but still. It's good to reserve space ahead of time.

As far as what to expect from the DirectX 11 client, it is my policy that we don’t do anything to change the gameplay experience from one platform to another. While DirectX 11 will provide a graphical advantage for some players on newer hardware, there really are no changes in gameplay for someone with older hardware vs newer hardware. However, in terms of graphics there may be a large jump in graphics quality – the whole engine and the rendering pipeline is completely different. The way shaders work, the way polygons are rendered, water effects, mirroring affects, or objects getting wet – they all work a bit differently on the new version for DirectX and will be updated for the DirectX 11 client. So for players who are more discerning of graphic quality – they will most likely notice. But it will not change the gameplay at all, and I’d like to make it so that it is simply another option you can select.
