Lol~ I'm not complaining hopefully thats 1.18 maintenance.
How is this EU prime time lol.
And its not like they do it on purpose, they have 3 regions to cover, and whos cares!? They fixing a very vital issue, if you cant spend couple hours of game then you've got other issues to worry about.
@Jynx its not 1.18, its hardware fix for the character rollback issue.
lol... this is what NAs said back in 2004(FFXI)... its funny when u look at it, its like pecking order or something... soon some new generation would start complaining.
Lol, well someone has to suffer. Sucks to not be able to log in though when you really want to.
I am fine with this time :P and I em Eu too.
I think EST ppl are getting screwed worse then the EU, since servers go down around the same time ppl finish school and start getting out of work and comes back up during the night; giving us only a bit of time to play before we go to sleep. Even thats assuming even can log in right when servers are up and not delayed another 3h waiting for the stupid updater to finish. In my case i usually don't even bother trying to log in till the day after since i always end up waiting 3h+ for update to finish after server is up.
Unfortunatly that is the way it rolls, we need to remember that they are based in Japan so its 8 hours in front of us.
The maintenance for Japan starts a 3am and finishes a 9am, probably when they start work, so its more than likely an outside company performing the server changes, not Square Enix.
They do it in EU prime time because it inconviniances the least users, most of the population (providing its simalar to ffxi) is JP, then NA, the EU. its basic network maintanance you try to cause the least disruption, if the game had regeonal servers they could stagger the maint when people arent playing, but this isnt possible on ffxiv.
They always did this on ffxi as well, and people just got used to it, it will not change.
Oh and @viion 7pm GMT is EU primetime when over winter UK and Portugal is GMT and UK is GMT+1 in summer, This maint just happens to run the whole of EU primetime and 3hrs into NA primetime.
Regular maintenances start at 23:00 West European time. Go to bed kids. It's a school night!
I just accounted it as a troll post. Logically no matter where you put the downtime it will burden another if it's an international game. Also given that this particular game is Japanese, they're doing it on their off hours, which makes sense.
I live in Norway, and maintenances usually start 11pm my time, so not that bad at all.
well im not a troll for starters.
I get anyone who couldnt play due to a maint would be annoy, just always seems to be the two nights of the week i get to play (away from the family :D )
is there a set maint time, maybe i can rearrange my life for the game or something.
At least retain you fortunate. Us Swiss people have to wait until 3:00 AM starting at 21:00 PM =D
But I'll be studying that day, so I don't care.
I just love how maintenance is nearly always on a Monday. That's the night I go out drinking so never play anyway. I'm EU too btw.
I feel the need to try locating that one response a WoW dev gave in response to a comment much like this. I don't remember exactly what he said, but paraphrased, it went like this:
Quote:
We're aware of the sun appearing at different intervals for people in different areas of the world, and will be addressing the issue to ensure the sun hits all people at the same time, regardless of time zone in a future patch.
I live in the UK and maintenance times aren't a problem for me.
Why, you ask?
Because I can find something else to do.
You just have to deal with it, that's all there is to it really.
