Disturbing boundary-breaking power of RMT tells

RMT can send tells to a character that was JUST created mere seconds after creation.

How? How could they possibly know that character exists before it even sets foot in-game? These characters aren't normally visible to the general population until after they finish those cutscenes, then leave the instanced zone.

I listened as, maybe 5 seconds after the new character's very first cutscene started, multiple tell sound effects rang out before the chatlog even appeared. Oh, and by the way, you can't blacklist them when the chatlog appears, either. Yep, you get to sit through the opening cutscenes while enduring tell after disgusting tell.

The fact that RMT can know of a character's creation within seconds speaks worlds about how horribly they've hacked this game. And how powerless SE is to stop them.

Supplication: The RMT have unrestricted access to search at level 1.

^This ... All you have to do is use the Player Search ... Set the level to only find level 1's or people in main cities and your done.

If WE have a access to it, so will they. There is not much SE can do without restricting the game for normal players to lessen the RMT.

Seems like alot RMTs are on NA worlds, I get an RMT /tell once maybe twice week on my server - not complaining as their annoying as hell, but seems like most of these bad RMT threads are from NA world groups. Which makes me wonder, are US (I assume) players accounts been hacked or more US players foolishly buying off RMT sites thus comprimising their accounts.

Excalibur, 8 to 10 RMT tells last day... very annoying.

Well, I haven't received an RMT tell on Ridill in months (a Legacy JP server), so maybe there is truth to that after all - I go on Balmung though and get immediately assailed with spam, so I don't know... *shrugs*

Does the Excalibur Community alway report the RMTer?
The population on Shiva for example is mid to high and I rarely receive RMT /tells. Like 2 every three days.
What I do is, black list AND report em.

That is the best I can, no we all can do. And in favour of that game we play we all should do this!

Ugh, Excalibur is so bad with RMTs. I get so freakin' many. I report every single one, but it's a losing battle. The amount of them never seems to diminish.

Bull hockey feathers. Its handled quite efficiently in many other subscription based mmo's. Please. Additionally we, the players have a shit-ton of inconveniences in place SUPPOSEDLY there because it HELPS stem back the tide of RMT. Yea.

Wow... that is bad.

It differs a lot on Sargatanas, one day I blacklist 5, and then it can be quiet for an entire week.
I have noticed that the advertisement bots are getting more persistent though, last night I blackisted one that managed to send me 5 tells in 2 minutes time.

Ul'dah. Just before I logged out I finished a dungeon, went to the kitchen and came back. Gone for 60-90 seconds. Had 4 RMT tells. 3 from the same guy and 1 from another.

Far from, it, it's probably simply packet sniffing which is how many of their bots and hack tools work, in this case the bot could simply be faking a 'search' request and scraping the replies.

Yep, it's pretty bad on Excalibur. Wasn't as awful a month ago but the frequency of RMT tells is increasing :(

This happened to my husband the other night. He was still in opening cut scene and he got at least 4 tells. And on our server the RMT are back in full force. I usually keep my list at 150. In 2 days it was back up to 170. They are almost as bad now as when this game launched. Obviously SE banning 600ish or so every few months isnt working, oh wait I forgot, SE doesnt give a shit lol.
