Mailing to alts

Ok so I took a break from game for a while. How can we send mail to alts or vice versa? This is extremely frustrating and I am not sure if I am going to continue playing if we can't because I tried friend listing my alts but can't.

Wow that is beyond a terrible system. Is there a way around it because I don't have another account and I am not going to lose all my shit because I want to remake one of my alts due to no name changes. What a fucking retarded(excuse the language but pissed)system. I don't have any friends I can trust since there is quite a bit of stuff I want sent over

Unfortunately, you are SOL (excuse the term) then. I, too, would love to make an alt if for nothing else but extra storage. This policy has prevented that... =/

I played a main char and an alt, it will be nice if I can send stuff to my alt or at least a share storage or something. There is no reason why we should not be able to do this.

GTFO RMT still have ways around that shit with FC and other shit. Implement account security tokens ffs, I have seen other games have it built in and it works wonders never a rmt spammer or trade ever.

But yeah RMT is still happening even with this restriction and RMT can just as easily make multiple account and use the mailing and there are even RMT FC around. The RMT reasoning doesn't really hold when there are plenty of ways around it. I don't even want to send gil to my alt, but I would like to send stuff my main can make, food, etc.

Can only send items to people on your friend list.

You can try to get a few friends together and make a new free company with alt chars and try to use the free company chest to transfer stuff.

maybe it makes it easier for SE to track RMT Money movement that way? i'm no expert but its something that comes to mind.

there is but you need to make a FC with your main then get someone to invite your alt's to the FC but make sure your alt's are lv 25 & joined a GC. it's the only way I've done it

No!

Only the FC creator has to be level 25 and in a GC in order to begin the FC creation process, I have my own and two of the four original members were level 1s created by friends of mine to help me set the FC up .. and one of those had an account where the highest character was around level 10 so there's no 'account wide' issue here which could explain level 1s being able to sign the charter (or whatever it's called in this game).

Now that the worst of the RMT seems to have been tackled it would be nice if SE could revisit this and consider letting us mail things to other characters on our own account.

Almost every single method they have taken to counter RMT has been more harmful to the honest players than to them.

In honest, I will never buy another square enix product after this. Between the 1017s at launch and beta, the wall of spamming, the lack of intelligent responses to any of my tickets and now this, I am just fed up with this company.

Maybe I take another 3 month break hopefully they pull their head out of their asses.

There was a glitch you could use that involved dungeons to add an alt to your friend list, but I don't know if it still works or if it's considered an exploit (and thus bannable).

That's an ass-backwards excuse.

Lack of alt mail doesn't discourage RMT at all, they just trade gil/items back and forth through their other stolen accounts. It inconveniences the legitimate players more than it does botters and RMT.

It does not, sadly, work anymore. :(

I am really tired of having to send gil to a friend just so they can send it to my alt. This probably makes money even harder to track than just allowing direct account to account money transfers...

Yea supposedly - UNLIKE other subscription model mmo's which manage to MANAGE the gold selling problem very well WITHOUT inconveniencing their paying customers. Oh, I'm sorry...this disallowing players to mail items to their alts FIXES the RMT problem, oops I forot the reasoning for it. I'm all clear now.

Honestly OP...your highest level is 33. You don't HAVE a lot of stuff worth transferring over. Pick a friend and have them help you, they aren't going to steal junk.

With that said though, I would agree that it is always a terrible system to not allow you to trade stuff between your own characters in some manner.

You could always mail whatever you need to a friend in-game, and have them mail it to your alt. Simple enough.

They have security tokens... Have since XI

OP. The easiest way to do this is either...

1. have a friend do it for you
2. (assuming your both in the same FC) put the items your transferring in your company chest. Honestly in the 2 minutes it will take you theres about a 2% chance anyone is even going to open the FC chest and a even smaller chance of them stealing from their own FC. If your transferring gil.. yes you will likely need a friend since I doubt your FC lets you withdraw.

add a 3rd retainer that only allows for shared storage on your own account for all your characters...that will solve a lot of problem

This, the only other way would be to have both characters in the same FC and have access to the chest to place and withdraw items.

A while back I was able to join a dungeon on one character and alt f4 and log in on my main and friendslist my alt because he was still logged in. Not sure if you still can though, they might have patched it. But I can still mail my alt even if they fixed it.

Funny how theyre so anal about RMT and stopping them, yet this is possibly the worst game I have ever played as far as RMT spam goes. It is completely ignorant on their part to just block players from doing this because of RMT. I dont even know how this can be abused! Hack an account, make a new character, then send all the gold to the new character? So? Still same account!

AHHHH the dread RMT bogeyman. The reason for some many things in this game.
1. Can not mail things/gil between toons on the same account....evil RMT (Mind you Wow, Eve, swtor, swg, ao, eq all if I remember rightly have allowed this feature. if you think FF has RMT issues go look at the number of websites openly selling WoW gold AND items!)
2. Can not have crafters (except cooks) have a meaningful use for "end game" ... evil RMT (well and we can not "devalue" dungeons)
3. Housing Costs .... evil RMT (and for some reason the devs felt is was okay for one FC to have multiple Houses/halls).
4. new mounts cost 100k plus....evil RMT (and another gill sink that needs to be higher then what you make on the dailies due to the RMT...gasp)

(possible solution)You know what if SE would just track the your wealth delta and see that player A went from 100k gil to 1.5 mil gil in a week with no market board activity. Then SE freezes that account, they could have the player explain the sudden good fortune. You do that and Publically announce it and the people buying gill would decline, the decline would in turn make the RMT viability of the game decrease to the point where your RMT companies would move back to more fertile fields. The reality is that all this clamping down on things and or inflating the gil sinks in the game ONLY ENCOURAGES the RMT market.

This method was patched, though not retroactively. Didn't have to close the game. Merely logging out in the instance was fine.

The only thing worth transferring if your highest level is in the 30s would be money. If you have ever worn your equipment in combat, it's bound to your character and can't be given to others.

On Sarga, I will get spam even before I exit my inn-room. On Aegis, I'll see one line of spam per fortnight. Perhaps the RMT don't understand japanese.

Nevermind, 'mailing to alts'. Shared bank account! I second this.

Or... have your alt (and main), as a retainer. Your character, your alternate... your retainer. I'd be happy to give up the current 2 retainer per character to have this.

Remember how you could 'dress-up' your retainers in 1.X? Having your character becoming a retainer isn't new. Anyone remember the impromptu 'market place' right outside Jeuno... players would put themselves in Bazaar mode and go AFK (climate change be darned!).

Some tweaking will need to be done (Uniques will no longer be storable on retainers) but I'm sure the smart people at SE can figure it out. 1.x to ARR... this should be cake.

BTW, regarding RMTs... do a player search occasionally... look for players with no FCs, somewhat odd names, all of the same job (and no other) and level, sitting in the Inns. Even on Aegis, dozens of them, level 30 CONs, all at the Roost, at the same time. Since they can't be mailing to alts, perhaps this is how they do 'it'.

Here's one better, not only have I gotten RMT seller spam when awaking in my Inn Room, I got them when I made my two newer characters to check out other servers IN THE TUTORIAL, you know before you can even SEE any other players in those first few minutes. Could not believe it. Still annoys me. The reason you cannot shout/say inside main cities without being hassled by the RMT'rs is still a reason for me to be p-o'd as well.

They friggin still own this game if you look at all the 'controls' in place that inconvenience we the players and yet they continue to be abundant - bots all over the place reported, still there weeks, months later, and still having to blacklist tells. Please.

They should make it so you can't see or send tells before level 5 at least. :/ But then they might resort to sending random linkshell invites or worse.

FUNNY THING IS...... JP server has almost extinction of RMTers shouters or any of the tlikes!

RMT are use single character on "throw away" account for move gil and do spam to town. They are have no need for mail to other character on account.

There used for be way to friend list attach alternate player character, but SE made for do nerf for stop player from mail to self.
