BSOD every 2 or 3 days playing FF XIV .. no BSOD with other games

My temps are always under 55º C and I have everythig up to date.

I've never had a crash or BSOD with other games.. only FF XIV crash my computer with a BC Code 124 hall.dll error.

Any way to fix this? I've had this problem since forever and seems like nobody cares.

I'm assuming your 55C is your CPU temp
what is your gfx temps under load?

If you have an onboard gfx switch to that and see if you get bsod to rule out your gfx card

Both GPU and CPU are under 55ºC.. and as I said all my other games won't crash at all my pc.. I play games that demands more than FF XIV and no problems at all.

I've seen other threads about Bsod and crashes but not one single response about it.

BSODs are very, VERY rarely caused by user-level software. If the crashes are occurring in HAL.DLL then they are nothing to do with the FFXIV game client.

Note the comment about there being no direct way for application programs to use this code, it's entirely hardware/device-driver driven.

Use Google to search on "error 124 hal.dll" and you'll learn, the second post in this thread makes it clear it's a HARDWARE fault:

I've done my research.. but how do you explain that my 6 months old computer crashes only with FF XIV and never with my other games?

Same issue here. My PC ONLY crashes while FFXIV is running, never other times.

what "other" games are you guys pointing to?

are you running 2014 AAA titles?

i mean it makes a difference

You realize there are 100's of other posts about the exact same issue? Sarcasm doesn't help.

Use this to record PC activity- Open processes with High CPU usage till you find the Hal.dll and see what is causing the conflict while game is running.

Its a great tool and lets you see the actual hardware individually rather than grouped as one system process.

It may be an issue in the area of your chipsets (north or south), or your memory/memory controllers (graphics card, motherboard, or on the CPU die).

Some of these don't have temperature monitoring readily available, so it may be hard to actually see if one is overheating or something, but it is something that may need to be flushed out. XIV hammers the piss out of your memory, as well as your data buses because of all that data transfer. A ton of stuff is still being run by the CPU that other games are likely using the GPU to handle more efficiently as well, so it can be hammering the L2/L3 on the CPU die, which means the CPU's memory is of concern here as well.

If you have overclocked ANYTHING on your system, undo them and retest. If you have a special edition type of GPU, compare it's specs with the standard models in their lines...there is a strong possibility that the core and/or memory on it has been overclocked. It may be worth scaling it back to the reference clocks to see if it improves. Some cooling rigs don't do a very good job of keeping the other chips and VRM components cooled as effectively as the core, making it a common problem.

It may be a bit advanced for some users, but your system RAM could also be running on a higher performance profile as well, and that profile may be a little too aggressive. If you can adjust the RAM timings it may be worth slowing things down just a hair there as well. Some systems will allow you to turn off the auto config and simply pick a flat speed (200, 233, ... 333, 400, 433)--if you have this option, you can basically just force it to use one of the slower profiles to test with to see if something is going on with the RAM.

It's tricky... but this kind of downclocking may very well stabilize your system. I've run my E8400 on aggressive overclocks for years in XI and a few Blizzard games with no problems (3GHz CPU at 4.1GHz, and DDR2 at 1180Mhz)... but with XIV, I have to notch things down a bit. This as as true with the 1.0 beta as it is with the new 2.x releases. I've had to slow the system down to a 433 FSB (effectively slowing the cpu and system memory controllers/chips), as well as notching back my Sapphire Vapor-X 5870 OC card's core and memory by roughly 5% to get it stable. This system is 24+hours stable at much higher clocks with Prime95, as well as hours of torture testing with utilities like FurMark for the graphics clocks. This game's inefficient coding just hammers the subsystems way more than it should. It sucks to have to downgrade some of these things like this, but until they move to the higher DirectX model and hopefully clean up the code and take proper advantage of our GPU's, we may not have much choice if we want to remain stable in game.

Bumping this up because I have had similar issues since mid beta with no help from support.
(Not sure what the Hal.dll thing is, though.)

It seems to be obliterating my display driver after anywhere from 30mins to 5 hours of gameplay.
I either get artifacts
Or weird vertical bars that cover my entire monitor.
Or it just putters into a bluescreen.

Nothing is overheating.
Everything has enough power.
And other recent games can run indefinitely on my PC with 0 issues.
My PC is due for an update, not because things are broken, but because there's better stuff out there.

GPU(Not sure this is it. Mine looks different (has a huge heatsink), but that's the number it said when I ordered it.)
