Musketeer. We all know it's coming...

Or at least those who played 1.0 do. Just as they did with the Arcanists guild in Limsa, they will be adding the musketeers guild and the class to go with it whenever it is that they eventually release new classes/jobs.
The question is.....what role? They could be rapier-wielding melee DPS. Maybe some sort of Gunner style ranged DPS, or even with the right spin a tank. Anyone have any idea? Any hints from the lore that maybe i've missed (IE someone mentioning them in quest text or something)?

just like acn has both dps and heal, I'd love to see msk to have 2 different roles for jobs.

I saw somewhere a bunch of rifles on a table. So I know we have double barrel pistols and rifles. Maybe MSK use both like GLD uses swords and daggers. Maybe SE can make it where the abilities or added effect are different based on if you use a pistol or rifle.

As far as jobs go:

Gunner: Abilities use pistols. This is your standard Ranged DPS. No support.
Sniper: Uses long range rifles to deliver long ranged attacks. Strong support, weak dmg.

Just to be clear, Gunners can use rifles and snipers can use pistols, but they won't get the benefit of any additional effects from abilities.

Example: Sniper - "Leg Shot" shoot the enemy's legs. Additional effect - gravity. Additional effect only occurs when using a rifle.

Hmmm. I say MSK > COR seems like a likely possibility. Considering Limsas whole 'pirate' theme, and the nod to XI. It doesn't necessarily have to be a support job. Just the name.

I still say it would be fun to have one of the jobs, the support role, to be a Gunmage, used in X-2 as a variant to Blue Mage.

MSK use guns from what you can gather in Limsa Lominsa. Their guild is in the same area as the Marauder's guild and there are two females using short pistols. I assume that the Pistols are the main weapons and the Rifle that appears as visible decoration on a few tables is like their two handed weapon, similar to the Conjurer and Thaumaturge. Definitely ranged DPS. Wonder if Merlwyb is the extended Job since she has 2 Pistols, though that would be odd since the battle animation for MSK so far is single pistol.

I think if you look at the balance of the games other classes they will be ranged physical dps. The only class type which doesn't currently have two options.

As to how it will play I can see it being single target with maybe an emphasis on DoT's. I don't see SE making it a full blown dps class since if they gave it damage output similar to DRG or MNK they would effectively kill those classes. Either way, I'm looking forward to it!

I dunno - if they have been working on the Mouseketeer since 1.0, and it didn't make it into released 2.0. I don't think we will be seeing it anytime soon if at all.
