Overmeld Success Rate and Craftsmanship

Hello everyone. Today I'd like to talk about an idea I have had for a while in which the Overmeld Success Ratio should be affected by your Craftsmanship, thus allowing a person with Extremely High Craftsmanship to have a much better chance of overmelding than a person who has not put the time and effort into making the gear they need/want.

What do you think? Would it not give a person more of a reason to use their 'Class Gear' Overmeld instead of a Patrician's Set Overmeld?

I like this idea. I hate how many fails I get on those.

Sorry Johnist but this is completely not needed now. Just if You have the gear good melded is enough reward. Maybe later when we got new harder crafts... The more important part for me is to learn how to use what You got and enjoy it.
Side observation - dont use 49 gear for stars crafts : recomended lvl 50 green HQ gear melded to got almost 350 in craftmanship/control/CP equally and with good rotation You can do wonders and forget about overmelding.
PS because i am all 50 crafter maybe i am not appropriate to give opinion if persons have one or two crafts leveled max... i got max leveled and melded gear on all crafting classes personally and never more spiritbonding till not coming new better crafter gear.

I don't know if it's just me. But I had an extremely hard time understanding that. Too much rambling.

As for the suggestion.. I like it!

Nope, keep the fail rate where it's at otherwise materias prices on the market board will fall even more. Making the fail rate better would be another hit on the economy.

You gotta think about the "big picture" not the "me" picture.

I don't like the idea. Being able to meld should be your reward for getting a profession to 50 and if it's stat based all of a sudden it's not. If you get 50 goldsmith you shouldn't have to look for a goldsmith meld your rings for you.

You seem to be misunderstanding my idea. My idea is about the OVERMELDS, not the REGULAR (absolute) Melds.

If someone else has a much better success rate than yourself, you wouldn't do the melds yourself anymore.

no. everyone wants to make this game easier. wth?

I think this could lead to drama, if stats effect overmelds then (some) people will start demanding success. At the moment everyone knows it's not my fault if I break 6 Tier 4 materia in a row, it's just the RNG doing it's thing and even though I have good crafting gear I don't want calling out on it when I do someone a favour.

I didn't think I'd have to specify because of context, yes I know you meant overmelds. Point stands. The only reason you'd have more crafting than another person IS overmelds. So you need to find another crafter to overmeld for you. Great, now that's done you can overmeld! But you don't need to. Because someone else just did it.

Your idea just takes away self sufficiency. If you want to argue success rates are too low, that's fine. If they decide to raise it though it should be for everyone.

All for it, this could make a difference between somebody who just levelled a handworker to 50 and somebody who has taken the time (and GIL probably) to equip him well. Even if it would only be your own success rate (items you have in your repository that are bound to your char).

I could live with this suggestion, IF the item melded will be crushed and all its inserted materia with it, when the meld fails, like it was in 1.2x.
But i predict this will not be the intented mechanik by the OP?!?! :cool:

Oh and to be clear, no, never ever give us a 100% chance besides the existing ones!

Against it, overmelding success is something that should be left to chance no matter how well melded the crafter's gear is.
Even on personal gear.

Agree 100% with you.

Just spend a couple million overmelding your accessories, and putting melds in the freebie slots on other gear and you should have zero issue HQing stuff. While I do hate that there was no way to boost the melding chances, I must say it felt really good every time that final meld went through.

Materia would drop to near worthless prices if you could boost your overmeld success rates. The market is terrible enough already, thanks.
