Healing Twintania - Tips Request

I'm sure plenty of other healers would like some help with this too. While a large part of our current struggle with Twintania is managing conflag/fireballs we're having a rough time of healing the place.

I'm looking for both Scholar and White Mage tips as depending on which healer is available I play the other.

Main thing I know is that pre death sentance I want an adolquium/stoneskin up on the current tank, and that when split into two groups we can sit withing 16y of eachother and I can sacred soil so that regardless who gets the fireball they get the reduced damage leaving more time for me on the tank.

Hi Nailkita. This is what I do during phases 2, 3 and 4 as a scholar on Twin. I am sure it will be different from what others do, but it works for me.

Phase 2:
For the first conflag I heal as normal with physic and embrace. After the first long conflag ends I use eye for an eye, rouse eos and the use a succor to prepare for the incoming fireball damage. I should mention I do not use sacred soil at all for the rest of the fight. We get 3 stacks every 1 minute, or 1.5 stacks a death sentence. In order to make sure our tank does not die to an unlucky double hit right after a DS I try to time a lustrate the moment the DS animation hits in order to heal between the damage. Since lustrate isn't affected by the DS debuff, while a well times Cure 2 is, I find this to be a better use of my stacks. I also prefer to save the last stack in case of an emergency, for instance the other healer is caught in a conflag during DS. I continue with this strategy furing the 3rd and fourth conflag.

Phase 3:
As I run to the divet I move eos close enough that she can target the party as we run, but not close enough that she will be hit by dive bombs. Since I am on the main tank, I use eye for an eye and rouse during the spawn phase and proceed to keep him up using mostly physic. At this point I want to make sure I have some extra lustrate stacks during the next dive bombs phase in order to top the tank off while I move. Before the second dive bomb phase I also cast succor and drop a sacred soil if I have the stack, just in case someone doesn't get out of the way quickly enough. As the next adds spawn I run out, positioning eos off to the right of the tank and again heal normally. Before Twintania comes down I make sure to use eos' +healing buff followed by a rouse followed by eos' regeneration and a boosted succor. This will help reduce more of aetheric profusion's damage while also providing nice regen to move into the next phase of the fight.

Phase 4:
When Twintania comes down I use a virus on her and focus target her. After AP I make sure my tank is topped off with a lustrate as we run to our positions, placing eos right behind twintania as well. Of course use eye for an eye whenever it is up as well. I should also mention that I pop a rouse before DS if it is up in order to help with the after debuff healing.

Phase 5:
This is all rinse and repeat of the earlier strategies. Note though that eos is in a perfect position for regen to hit the melee, off tank and main tank.

That pretty much sums up what I do during the fight as a SCH. Hope it helps!

Try to get her into that phase shortly after a death sentence (arround 5-10 seconds). That will result in a synchronised deathsentence-conflag. The tank can just enter the conflag to avoid deathsentence. Pretty easy phase if you can do that.

Put up a Petcamp at her tail (either Scholar-pet/Garuda or Scholarpet/offtank) and let the one with the fireball go there if he cant feed it into a conflag.

Try to let the scholar soloheal the tank to free your whm´s capacities to stoneskin the whole group (except the offtank to build up LB). As a conflag shows up heal/lustrate the tank up and let him run inside. This can be tricky if the deathsentence and conflags rotate badly. Mana is no issue here your bard can pull the song at least on every feedable conflag and part 1 of Phase3. If the Scholar can do this well the whm can focus on stoneskinning the whole Group and precast a cure2 on the fireballs target followed by a sk. If for some reason (whm in conflag...) so dont have sk tell the group. Your friendly neighborhood summoner/scholar will put up Virus if that person gets fireball or lay down a bubble.

If struggle to keep the tanks up that way you might want to try dualtanking. As she starts casting deathsentence your offtank spots and the switch positions. DS will hitt the old tank but autoattack the new. Doesn´t work well with only one pet since your tank won´t be able to eat fireballs for a while.

Scholar should try to save his stacks. Don´t bubble if noone would die otherwise. You might need lustrate for the tank. If you got aetherflow off-CD either heal with lustrate or spam a conflag and refresh it as the tank is save inside.

Whm should keep up stonskin on the group, heal the fireball victims and recast buffs if so should die nonetheless.

Warrior as offtank is superior due to constant 10% debuff for the fireball. You might want to let him spot before p3 because you want the Paladin be offtank in p4.

Eye for an eye is very usefull in p3. Use it here until you get a hang of this phase then save it. (BLM & WHM) (Sch and sum may use it at the start due to shorter CD)

edit: pets: if you got enough damage for the conflags take EOS. The magicdamagereduce makes p3->p4 much more relaxed and p3 is with whisperingdawn in the runningphase much more easy

Helping so far, I'm really more experienced with WHM healing, and feeling helpless on SCH so I'll try to make better use of my aetherflow. I should note with Eye for an Eye, or usual group has 4 eye for an eye available, two of which have the shorter cooldown (SCH/SMN/WHM/BLM) so we can set up a rotation for it. what about good times for virus? again same 4 will have virus available

We use virus as a CD in this phase. If anyone has no stoneskin the scholar or summoner uses a viurs to compensate if that one gets targeted with a fireball. Note that BLM do not need this due to their own capeability to absorb magic damage. Also if your BLM is good he can cast apocatastasis instead. But virus is easier to land so we chose that way.

The second situation you want to use virus here is if your tank entered a conflag at a bad spot (half life or lower) Any virus on twintania will take stress off the healer as he returns to a healable state.

Basicly - if anything goes well we do not use virus at all here. But since you cant decide who gets the conflag and balls that rarely happens.

Yeah... I wasn't paying attention one attempt and food buff wore off, I had 4106 health then vs the 4300ish with food... the fireball hit me for 4130

as whm you want to medica 2/cure 3 the fireball group, so swiftcast/surecast if helps, and keep an eye for ds to ss tank.

Usually my rotation would be something like seal > medica 2 when fireball is going off, then immidiately ss tank for odd conflags. For even replace the ss with making sure tank is regen on him/topped off, and cleric stance and throw some burst dps at the fast conflag which should be targetable by the time tank is topped off. This pretty much just repeats, although ds timing can sometimes vary.

I forgot one really helpful advice.

If you do it with only one tank (which I do advice if you can handle it) your Off-tank should be #3 in aggro to the max. #2 doesn´t get conflags (not sure about fireballs) because (I guess) this encounter is desinged for tankswapping. And the best thing that can happen is he gets it (if you have two pets [which you do])

Every phase:
HEALERS ALWAYS PUT TWINTANIA ON FOCUS TARGET. Not just for twisters, also for death sentence during the first 50%.


WHM:
Death sentence is every 35 seconds. Make a macro that counts to 32 seconds then gives you an echo warning in the chatbox or something and hit the macro when death sentence hits the tank. Then when the macro hits 32 seconds and warns you you start casting stoneskin. If the stoneskin is applied before TT starts the Death Sentence cast the tank will end up with 18% more health after the hit which is huge. After stoneskin is up death sentence should be beginning to cast, this is where you start casting Cure 2 on the tank. The cure 2 will hit the tank right as the Death Sentence hit and recover a lot of lost health so the tank won't die to autoattack/plummet after.


SCH:
You can have Sacred Soil and Adloquim up for every death sentence easily, as well as having enough stacks for lustrates.
Sacred soil has a 30 second cooldown so it lines up perfectly with death sentence. Pay attention and drop a sacred soil while the first Death Sentence is casting. Then every time it comes off cooldown cast a Physick/Succor depending on what's needed to pass 2.5 seconds, then drop a new sacred soil. After dropping the new soil start casting Adloquim on the tank. When you do this the tank will gain Galvanice before death sentence hits and take much less damage. You should have enough eatherflows to lustrate the tank when death sentence hits even if you use a sacred soil on each one.
The SCH can also call out death sentence after sacred soil comes back available to let the WHM when to stoneskin, instead of the WHM using a macro.

If the tank is using a cooldown, and the healers are using Virus when the tank has no cooldowns left, death sentence will never hit for more than 3k if the healers are doing their job properly. One lustrate and the cure 2 hitting means the tank should be well and good into the safe health range.

Proper Death Sentence healing, following these guidelines, means the tank will never be even close to dying.


Phase 2:

WHM: When fireball marker appears hit Surecast and then cast medica 2, no matter what group it's on. It will heal everyone to full. There is no death sentence when TT is casting fireball so it's easy to get a medica 2 in. If the fireball is on your group you will be interrupted without surecast so always have surecast up for it. If you messed up and didn't start casting before the fireball hit, then swiftcast the medica2 as a backup plan, but it's not ideal because you still have to wait for the GCD after.

SCH: Putting up succor before fireball hits people is a good way to make sure they don't drop too low. This matters the most right before the fast conflags because someone might be low from fireball and get put in conflag right away, so the higher they are after the fireball the better. Throw out another succor after the fireball hits if possible.

Divebomb phase:

both: After you dodge the divebombs, you have a full 2.5 seconds to cast a heal on the tank before having to go back to stack with the rest of the group. You can heal just fine while dodging so do so or the tank will drop too low. Save lustrates and sacred soil for when all 5 snakes are up. Keep eye for an eye on the tank that will take the most damage.

WHM: Don't use benediction after the 2nd set of snakes spawn. JUST DON'T

SCH: Put the pet near where the tanks will be. This will make the pet not get hit by divebombs and also make them help with healing. Don't forget the heel the pet quickly after the 2nd set of divebombs, you'll need the extra healing. Use the pet's cooldowns when all 5 snakes are up. Aim your sacred soil on top of the tanks picking up the snakes, this helps the caster aim their limit break too.

Twister Twister Twister

both: when TT comes down to cast the Aetheric Profusion(ultimate attack) have virus on her and sacred soil on the group. Pre-cast aoe heals even though you're in the neurolink to get people back up asap after the damage hits.

WHM: Heal extra hard when dreadknight comes down in case a healer gets imprisoned. If you have a BLM on the task of putting Heavy on the Dreadknights and the BLM gets imprisoned, tab to the dreadknight and cast a Stone 1 on it after topping off the tank. Keep doing the same thing as before for Death Sentence.

SCH: When Dreadknight comes down put an Adloquim on the tank and then quickly tab to the Dreadknight and cast a Miasma on it to slow it with disease, then continue healing the tank. Lustrate might be useful after using a GCD to put up miasma but usually isn't needed unless the other healer got imprisoned at the same time. Keep doing the same thing as before for Death Sentence.


Phase 5

both: Easiest Phase. Just do the same thing as always for death sentence. When TT is casting Liquid Hells, nobody except the person targeted by it will take much damage, so throw a heal on them. Use healing cooldowns when tanks get targeted by Liquid Hells. Coordinate cooldowns with tanks if they get targeted by Liquid Hells repeatedly due to lolRNG. Offer a sacrificial virgin to the RNG gods for your Allagan weapon ^^. If you did the rest of the fight properly this phase should be super easy no matter how bad your RNG is.

SCH is by far the strongest/easier heal class between the two, on this fight. Yes the SCH has 3x more to do as the WHM is mostly just spamming heals because the SCH also has to manage aetherflows and micro the pet, but as a SCH you are way more suited to keep the tank alive no matter what happens to the WHM. A good SCH makes this fight a cakewalk, a bad SCH makes this fight a nightmare.

Final suggestion: if you have a skilled SCH and a skilled Tank with good gear(easy with 450 myth per week) then doing this fight with 1 tank and 5 DPS is much easier than doing it with 2 tanks. Just make sure the Tank and healers aren't scrubs and you'll breeze through it with 5 DPS, you will never have to worry about not killing conflags or snakes or dreadknights in time if you have 5 DPS making the fight much easier overall. But again, you need good healers and a good tank to do it this way.

You just need to have a Paladin covering the Whm and the whm dumping aggro after ~8 seconds. Very easy if not the most easy way to guarante the adds will be on spot. You could so this if you're really bored of farming twintania every week and want to spice it up by overcomplicating the phase and making the healers work harder by giving them another target(with low defense and no mitigation) to heal...

Feel free to actually read my post.

1. He uses Death Sentence after every 3rd Plummet. Have your WHM use Stoneskin,your SCH use Adlo, and your tank use ONE Def CD. NOT Bulwark. Around the 4-5 DS, your tank won't have a CD. This is where your SCH/SMN uses Virus. If both are on CD then you can have your WHM use it if he has it

2. If your tank has his HP above 3.5k and your dps is good enough to knock down conflags without him(and they should), your tank can walk into the conflag. This will make the tank invul until the conflag is broken.

3. A party setup with a SCH and a SMN is best for this fight. You can stack both pets on your OT. Whoever gets fireball will run to the OT and with this, only the OT and the target takes dmg. 2 less ppl to heal.

4. When your 4th conflag is finished have your bard use mages ballad to take u back to max. This is where Twin will usually drop her 2nd neurolink and transition to divebombs. for a good 30 seconds there is no healing so it gives a perfect time to recover.When the snakes spawn take off ballad and continue as normal.

5. Your MT should not have more than 1 stack of the debuff here. You can position the adds in a way to avoid most of them, while allowing the big snake to catch all of them. 3-4 stacks will be almost impossible to heal thru and he could die when Twin does her drop down explosion deal.

6. in twister phase, u wanna stay far enough away from the DK to not get owned, close enough to tank to heal, and far enough from the rest of the party to not screw each other over. We place our healers on the hill close to the starting area.

7. Last phase is pretty retard proof. You wanna have all 3, preferably 6 stacks of aetherflow if youre a sch and your divine seal/bene for this phase tho. If liquid hell targets you, you wanna have those instants. and u should have rouse/divine seal when the other healer is targeted and u might be solo healing. luckily its only 15-ish seconds but it could get nasty.

Tbh just stoneskin/adlo the Death Sentences and you take a nice chunk out.

We do Twintania with one tank, (PLD obviously) and it works out well.

I drop Soil when I can bunch it togeather with a Fireball and a Death Sentence, Succor before fireball ofc. Soil when snakes are all on tank and on last phase to simply reduce dmg for a while.

Lustrate to counter Death Sentence debuff when needed, if you spam Physick and the tank had Adlo/Skin up you should be able to keep a stack though, or just use it if you can use Aetherflow again, no point in wasting it. :)

Eos should be within tanks range for all the fight to help, the Rouse/Fey Illum/Whispering Dawn Macro comes in handy for some extra healing.

Last phase is your easy one, just do one Adlo, one Physick and repeat.

Get the SCH's crit up! I got lucky last week and Adlo was critting before nearly all the Death Sentences. Thats a shield for 2200 to 3700 depending if you have Fey Illum on yourself and tank has Convalescence up. :)

Phase 2, the MT should never be hit by a death sentence. If you initiate phase 2 right after twintania does a death sentence, ie, get her to 85% hp right after a death sentence, then the way the timings of death sentence and conflag line up will be perfect. What will always happen is that twintania will cast conflag, then immediately after use a death sentence, by the time it goes off, the MT has enough time to run into the conflag, preventing the DS from hitting. This leaves you open to doing dps on the conflags, and you will never have to heal through infirmary during that phase. Nifty little trick my group does and it makes things a whole lot easier.

Thanks and working on it, my scholar still is sitting on a lot of allagan accessories from the swap over from white mage, so crit's a little low, but at least mind's still high.

Don't worry about it, MND will always be better than Crit. Crit is extremely powerful on SCH because adloquim shields essentially get a 3x bonus from crits but you can go through 5 minutes of fighting twintania and never get a single adloquim to crit because you normally only cast it once every 35 seconds so that's 8 chances for it to crit. Even with a good crit rare, most of those 8 adloquim casts will be normal and not crit shields. So it's better to have more MND so the shields are always stronger.

When they DO crit it's nice though, I've seen death sentence hit for less than 50 damage with a crit adlo.

The shield damage reduction from galvanize is calculated AFTER damage reduction from things like Inner Beast, Sentinel, etc :)

Agreed. Also, I heal the off tank here and I end up having to use benediction almost every time during this part, despite topping him off and throwing stoneskin on him as he runs out to go get in position and using e4ae on him. He just gets smacked so damn hard. Divine seal + Cure 2 spam with regen ticking somehow is often not enough, even though I'm full ilvl 90. It has never caused an aggro problem (at most I've pulled one snake for a second,) and anyways I time my shrouds so that I always have it available for this phase just in case.

This is situational. It's generally a good idea to check your enmity levels to make sure you're not going to send all that stuff running at you anyhow.

For SCH - for the first half of the fight I use Selene.

At the start of the pull always Adol Tank for obvious reasons. My group uses Solo Tank Strat so I bubble Tank and keep him Adol/ Lustrate while WHM stoneskins. It's a good idea to Focus Target Twin so you have a rough estimate on when you need to prefire Adol. For Conflag phases I always keep Aetherflow at 3 stacks to prepare for the healing debuff Tank will be having after Death Sentences. Really don't need to use bubble for these conflag phases. But a good note is that you should succor before/after fireball hits group. During Divebombs, have fairy/selene up hill so can top people off - a good idea is to save Aetherflow so when snakes pop can immediately throw down bubble and Lustrate tank. (Lustrate dragoon for me since solo tank as he is tanking a snake.)

During 2nd Divebombs it's good to cast Adol on whichever tank is going to be picking up snakes. Also use 2 Lustrates on that tank is Main Prior - and save last one for bubble where LB will come down. Use this time to Instant cast and bring back Eos. so that you can Rouse and have her cooldowns really help through this healing phase. I tend to cast Virus on big snake to help dd go smoother.

Okay so Twin is back, make sure you have Focus Target up if you haven't already. Succor Group and try to adol any melee who have stacks so they don't die. Twisters come immediately after usually so be running. Your position should be on hill to the left. and run down hill or in a circle for twisters. http://i.imgur.com/QAK7wCh.jpg (fore reference ignore everything else just positioning lol) Wanted to add - that you should position EOS behind twin so she can top off people. No one should really be taking dmg at this point unless they were too close when dreadknight spawned.*

For dreadknight (usually a twister when these spawn be ready!) I try to miasma if smner is bound/virus. Keep Lustrates for tank debuff only/ Also if anyone dies during this phase - *you the SCH* - not the WHM need to be raising them esp if don't have a smner. Sch's regen easy with aether flow so may as well be raising. If you get targeted by fire spit just run down left hill and go around wall.

We have me as SCH covering the OT on the snakes - it's much easier to keep him up for me then for the whm because he spikes much less with added mitigation. With E4E, Adlo Physick/Embrace and Lustrate he is very stable.
Not to mention, if you have to heal so hard as WHM you have a really tough time not getting aggro when the second set of snakes get added.

Twintania
(not needed if heals is strong)
Conflags: Succor before fireball, succor when conflags almost dead

main focus: Listening to the tank for death sentence, make sure adlo is on tank before D.S.
The tailswipe will bring tank down to almost none sometimes, So keep your lustrates for this mechanic, (Helps the whm)
Slowly use all 3 or 2 lustrates through until the debuff after d.s is gone.

Rinse and repeat

There's also other methods when the healer goes into conflag
and you're solo healing a debuff alone as sch
Your job is to just lustrate the m.tank if you don't have lustrate you need to pop Fae-illumination and if you have time whispering dawn + Physic at the same time
Swiftcast stoneskin is very useful too.
If you're in a tight position as sch, don't be afraid to virus twintania as your cooldowns won't be an issue when Twintania Dives
Theres more stuff I would tell you but you learn how to manage with your pet

Thats basicly the strategy we talked about. You want the aggro on of the adds on the whm. The Paladin throws cover on him and has all the time of the world (~10seconds) to take the aggro away. Peanuts if Shroud is ready. Doable if not.

Ah, I TOTALLY missed the point of the convo then. You mean the WHM plays on aggro on purpose to pull them faster due to medica 2 and regen up? Gotcha.

Is it best to time a physick to land right when DS hits then lustrate to get the tank back up or just lustrate as soon as DS hits to get him up faster? Also, do tank's CDs need to be applied before Twin starts casting DS, like Adlo and Stoneskin, to be effective? We are having trouble keeping the tank up during conflags because he seems to always fall dangerouly low on hp after every DS, even when I have Adlo up and lustrate right after. He usually will survive the DS then die a second later to a plummet or auto attack (or both) right after even when I use lustrate. I probably just need to work on my timing, but thought I would ask to make sure im not missing anything.

You can avoid the healing debuff if you land a heal right as death sentence lands. Our WHM times it so he lands a Cure II right at that point and I have an Aldo landing then as well. I immediately blow a lustrate right after as well. If it takes 2 lustrates, then use 2 to get your tank back in the safe range. You should have plenty of lustrates to spare at this point.

One tip I got from these forums was to use Sacred Soil as your death sentence timer. Cast it right before or just as the first death sentence hits, then when the cooldown is back up, DS will be coming soon (in the next few seconds or so). My party does something totally different for conflags.... we stack my fairy and OT to the side and whoever gets fireball runs to the OT/fairy (or into the conflag). Sch tries to keep adlo/succor shield up on the party to help mitigate fireballs. Sacred Soil can be placed over the Tank and OT to cover both death sentence and fireballs. If OT gets fireball, they can take it as a duo (OT/Fairy). Everyone has 4400+ HP with food. This way you only have to heal two people at most (although the Fairy should help and be auto-spam healing Fireball targets already).

Rotate Eye for an Eye on the tank. Remember Sch and Smn cooldown for E4E is reduced due to the Acn trait.
