Ugh im only able to do mission 1
I hope mission 2-3-4 dont have quest items i wont be able to obtain :(
The reason why the this event increases in level requirement with each successive quest is because they all involve specific FATEs to be completed which take place in areas of those levels (the last quest for instance, has a FATE that occurs in Mor Dhona, a level 45-50 area). Having said that, the first quest is easy enough, as all you have to do is complete either the FATEs 'Sister Crustacean' in Middle La Noscea, or 'Tender Buttons' in Western La Noscea. Doing so will gain you two key items.
One of these items is required to complete the quest, gaining you one part of Lightning or Snow's costume (the gloves if I remember rightly), while the second item can be redeemed with the vendor next to the quest npc for one FFXIII-themed weapon. Note that those FATEs can be done repeatedly, thus allowing you to gain all the weapons (you can only do the quest once though).
The remaining three event quests will each send you to a special FFXIII-themed FATE, which again completing it will gain you a new key item, which upon trading to the npc gives another piece of FFXIII armour, until finally, you'll complete the full set.
Hopefully that hasn't been too confusing for you. :)
Chapter 1 provides all the weapons, the gloves, and the hairstyle, so you can at least get the majority of items without having to level very far.
Chapter 2 provides the trousers or skirt.
Chapter 3 and 4 provide the boots and coat, but I haven't done these two yet, so can't tell you which is which. (I'm guessing boots for chapter 3 and coat for chapter 4.)
Oh, and although for chapter 1 it says "Required Level: 12 or above" anyone who didn't start the game in Limsa Lominsa will have to be 15 or above, because you'll need to complete the level 15 main storyline quest that unlocks travel to Limsa Lominsa.
Chapter 3 is boots, Chapter 4 is the coat (I remember that's the order I gained them the first time around). The Chapter 3 FATE is in Coerthas and the Chapter 4 ones in Mor Dhona, so you'll need to be a pretty high level to survive.
Completing them all also unlocks the new hair cuts too.
Haircuts? It unlocks more than Lightnings hair??
I have no idea why SE seem to love turning a blind eye to the fact that a good part of their player base is NEW to the game. May have just started because they got it as a Christmas present.
These folks are not going to be able to complete all the event Fates. so it's like a slap in the face to newbies, all for the sake of level 13 gear which is actually USEFUL to players in that level range.
I have 3 kids under age 5, a full time job, plus all the housework to do. Get to play a couple of hours of the game a day.
My kitty girl is level 17.
Am I going to be able to get her to 45 so I can complete the Lightning set? Not a chance in Hell. Might possibly manage to get as far as the third chapter. At least I'll be able to complete the Snow set. :(
Not understanding why the fates had to be set in such high level areas! considering you have Garlean outposts all over the low level areas anyway, why couldn't two have been set in those areas?
I have a questioni to update to my OP. Ive completed the 1st act of the ligthning quest. Got the bohemian gloves and for my prize i picked the bow
Where is the quest for the NPC to get Snows cap? and hair or w.e it maybe. Thanks oh and what lvl do i need to be for it?
By completing the quest below, players will be able to call upon the aesthetician by ringing the summoning bell in any inn room.
Quest: Beauty Is Only Scalp Deep
Required Level: Level 15
Location: Limsa Lominsa - Upper Decks (X:11, Y:11)
NPC: S'dhodjbi
Prerequisites: Players must first complete the main scenario quest "Call of the Sea."
You can get more than one if you want. You don't have to have the quest active in order to get the Otherworldly Package drops from the FATE, so if you want additional weapons for use with other classes, you can just do the FATE a few more times and get enough packages to trade for the other weapons.
It's a level 15 quest called "Beauty Is Only Scalp Deep". You pick it up from S'dhodjbi at the Drowning Wench (Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks).
you can store all lightning event weapons in the armoire in the inn room.
Even if you can t use them yet, collect them if you want and have time do it :)
I don't know how the vanity system will work but I did collect all of them for that purpose.
Even if you only have the archer class unlocked right now, you may end up deciding to add additional classes later, and this is likely the last time these weapons will be available. Most of them are pretty cool looking if you care about the looks of your equipment, and they're actually useful for stats through several levels. They're level 13 weapons, but with stats that are more on par with standard level 15 weapons. If you don't get lucky with dungeon drops, you might not surpass them until around level 20 or so (though the exact level varies between different classes).
As for adding additional classes, you'll probably want to at least get pugilist and lancer at some point. Getting Pugilist to 15 is one of the requirements for changing Archer to Bard, and both Pugilist and Lancer can provide cross-class skills to Bards. Whether you try out other classes as well is more a matter of personal taste, but a lot of people like to try all of them.
I thought FF13 was terrible, so I don't really mind not being able to get these items.
The page says it will make a return in Feb 2014, has it already? I am only 11 atm so the weapons could be of use to me.
Do you think we'll be able to collect on items later even after the event ends? I know at least a couple places where you can trade in for your items from previous events.
Considering SE states at the bottom of the event page on the Lodestone (found herethe following:No, those items almost definitely will not be redeemable after the event ends. So grab them while you can.Quote:

I waited for 30-35 minutes the other day and the quest didn't spawn.
I know I was in the right area, because there were a few other players who were standing there waiting with me.
The spawn rate for the fates depends on other fates in the area finishing, so it is actually useful to do a little fate grinding and finish up the others ASAP rather than waiting for them to cycle. I think the crab fate in Middle La Noscea spawns right after the wesp one nearby concludes.
I finally got the quest to be able to travel to the other cities so I'm looking forward to being able to complete this. Which it's a good thing I did since it ends tomorrow :P
The first Quest is in la noscea the island city. Take the zhephyr gate ...locate 3 man malm, it's down the bottom of the skywalk ...you'll see giant meglacrabs ...the quest begins at a 4 way intersection. You will at least be able to get the first items. Should be able to get the other worldly item and another package to trade for a unique weapon. Redeem with petyr winsome and the npc standing next to him.
