Ruins of Amdapor

So today I was logging in South Shroud near Camp Tranquil and I happened to see something bright, shiny, and green green glowing in the distance. I hadn't noticed it before so I rushed off to investigate! Lo' and behold it turned out to be the entrance to the lost Ruins of Amdapor, which is slated to be added in the next big version update 2.2 Interestingly the entrance seems to be the remains of a huge tree.

So what do we know about this place? Well from the previews we've seen the place has been overrun with some sort of "pollen" and "fungal" infection leaving the township desolate and abandoned. We also know ecologically there are "Wamoura" like monsters and possibly their lesser/larval "Wamouracampa" forms as well. Yet, what do we know about the civilization? Has their been any hints insofar as what befell this place and why it was sealed up? I'm sure the new quest lines shall tackle this but what do we know now if anything? The Revenants that haunt the entrance do seem lonely....

My bet the greenwrath happened to em. Maybe we'll even find out it's origins(elementals aside)

The Wamoura readies exuviation, recovers 9 billion HP.

Better spam those Disease and Storm abilities to bring healing down 100%... oh wait :(

I presume it has something to do with Amdapor Keep - the description for that in the Duty Finder says the Amdapori civilization existed for a brief time only to be destroyed when they started using forbidden magic.

After the Amdapori society's collapse, the elementals hid the Amdapori ruins (specifically, Amdapor Keep) under glamour. AK was only revealed following the Calamity because the Lambs of Dalamud cult somehow managed to dispell the elementals' camouflage on the place, who then occupied the ruins. I presume the Ruins of Amdapor has a similar story.

It may not come into play in the new dungeon at all, but we do know from the SCH relic quest that the Amdapori existed at the same time as and were at war with the Nymian civilization.

We do know a fair amount about Amdapor but its scattered through various sources. If I'm remembering correctly they were also the developers of White Magic, and were one of the main players in the magic induced sixth umbral era (along with Nym, the civilization where schs originate). Afterwards the elementals became the exculsive keepers of White Magic which they teach to the Padjal. The Padjal were the only whms until the adventurer comes along.

I am curious about what the boss of the Amdapor township will be.
I think it was said in the live letter that it is connected to a evil in Amdapor's past

Maybe a Tonberry....Seriously what if the Tonberry plague was an Ampador spell.

See now thats the cool stuff on the forum i look for while i am bored at work! Awesome find.... Would love to know more!!

Any thoughts on maybe the Statues/Gargoyles in AK.... a curse? Just a visual effect? Maybe some Lore soon to be found?

Leveling Archer isn't going to teach you anything about Nym or Amdapor, though. >_>

Did you notice what there is over Amdapor.
You can see this little north from the entrance.

Anybody remember Fye in old FFXIV's gridanian story?
I really want to know about her in ARR FFXIV.

A lot of those crystalline structures are found around Eorzea - one is located in the ocean offshore from Limsa Lominsa (plus the Wolf's Den PvP arena is built on another).

As for Fye, as the 2.1 story started to tie up loose ends in the 1.0 Ul'dah storyline (specifically revealing the whereabouts of a similar Ul'dah 1.0 storyline npc), and it seems 2.2 will be doing the same with Limsa, so on that logic I guess by 2.3 we might be finding out what happened to people like Fye and Khrimm in the Gridanian story in 1.0, although I assume Dunstan went on to having some important part in Gridania's history, as he has a spire named after him in the Central Shroud. ;)

Doesn't the place seem to be Carteneau Flats?
I could see water falls in that place, that orange crystal can change elements.
It's fun to think what happens there.

Anyways, I'm glad that there is someone who remember Fye, Khrimm, and Dunstan!!

1.0 stories were so confusing, I didn't understand.
But after I cleared all the contents and saw story line of ARR,
I start to think
Eorzea and the Empire, WHY do they have to start the war?
So I watched the 1.0 movie =.=
1.0 story has the point of it, but it doesn't show "Why":confused:

I wish if I can reason them....
I couldn't even see Fye except past sight.

Scholar does, but that has nothing to do with Archer, which is what you said you're leveling. >_>

Those structures are in the direction of the inaccessible Western Shroud. We can see more of them in the Central Shroud region by The Standing Corses if you look directly west as well.

Currently... what quests or npcs can tell me story about ampador keep and their civilication?

Unlocking Amdapor Keep lists a fair bit of information about it in the Duty Finder description, plus the SCH quest line deals with it a bit (apparently Amdapor attacked Nym 15000 years before). But their history is still very enigmatic at this stage.

1. Theres something weird on the ancient Nym-amdapor territorial map though, as we know, Nym have a temple santuary aka WP @outer LN and some fort @ sahagin lair (as indicated by the SCH pre relic location) and a fort / settlement at God's Grip (when Gerolt said the Nym outmanouvered the Amdapor forces who were sieging them),
2. Looking at Amdapor, we know they have a keep at the NE of their Amdapor town but not on their SE borders towards thanalan and not on NW, which means whatever threat they have, its coming from the NE as in Ala Mhigo direction or perhaps Gelmorra who resides in the Black Shroud too. For comparison just look at Ishgard with their W, E, SE, SW fort / stronghold location but strangely enough not on their north (perhaps they have excellent aerial defense?)
3. If you look offmap the Amdapor town, u'll see some weird shape of the map as if something resembled a blight have infected the area and every blight in other games' lore would stem from forbidden magic stuff

I don't know what started the ampador/nym war. But I do know why the empire attacked. Partly it was your basic land grab. Likely similar to what one person said not long after the United States formed. It was manifest destiny. Basically it was our god given destiny for our country to reach from one coast to the next.

And once they saw Midgardsormer at the silver tear falls they decided that Eorzea is riddled with false gods ( the twelve/primals ) and they have the eorzeans living in chaos. So now they have have a mission that the common Garleans can get behind and believe in. The Garleans aren't cruel and greedy invaders. They are SAVING the Eorzean people from these false gods and bringing them true civilization.

Naturally eorzeans didn't quite see it the same way.
