Not matter how much DPS improve on melee, a dead melee = nothing.
please make some mechanics to screw up ranged DPS. That s call a balance.
I normal give an open slot for melee DPS in pt finder for any primary farm party. Last night I found I can't. Melee didnt improve group DPS by 200% but they will bring 200% trouble for the group easily.
SE need be serious to review the situation for melee DPS

YA! I should bring more melee dps to my parties. If I bring 2 the group DPS will go up 400% but also bring 400% more trouble if they are bad!

Maybe its cause of everyone wanting content to be face rolled that they aren't willing to spend time helping the melee learn the fights. Melee might be dying more cause the chances of them getting a group is slim. The community is to blame. I'm not saying there are some bad players out there but that goes for any job, take a risk and help improve the community.

02-01-2014, 08:59 AModiei understand the "bad melee" view...i really do. I went forever before someone told me that my attacks did better depending on where on the mob i was positioned. I also practiced on the dummy's in coerthas and learned which combos were best. Unloading up to 3 DoTs and then laying on the damage. My DPS increase was immediately noticeable when i put this into work in an actual instance. So those who didnt learn how to melee yet are really holding back quite a bit of power. Especially the ones that can't dodge and stay alive.Quote:

Why...would you not want melee DPS for EX primals? Garuda is the only fight that is really more difficult for Melee than ranged (well, excluding Bards because they can run around the entire map doing whatever the hell they please in every encounter. I suppose they could get themselves killed in Titan for just this reason). Even Garuda is not bad if you do it the 3-way method for melee and the tanks are in the right places. I suppose on Ifrit if you have melee, the chain thing is slightly more inconvenient and the healers need to be paying attention if they have the wind debuff...
For coil I also fail to see the problem (though I've yet to get very far in t5). I wish MNK had a little more HP or defense on our gear because I can't use FoE when I'm DPSing, but that's not really an issue either since I've tanked some minor bosses in FoE. -

Melee DPS here. Monk, the nearest equivalent that I found here to my beloved Rogues. I'll try to play this game my way, whatever SE does against us and whatever prejudices people have against us. I know playing ranged is easier, particularly when you are my age. Just don't like playing ranged, full stop. :P

not sure what you are talking about. every party i see is pretty much setup the same. 2 tanks, 2 healers, 1-2 mele, 1 brd, and 1-2 casters. some fights are 3 mele and 1 brd while some are 3 casters and 1 brd. you don't see the blm's complaining they are kept out of part of the story due to the way titan is setup. some fights will always favor ranged while some will always favor mele. the only way they will ever make it to where there is no favorite is to make it so stupidly easy that anyone can compete all content regardless of how bad they are.
