I own this game already on PS3 but would like to add the ability to play it on PC too, so I was wondering if I were to buy the PC version would I get the 30 days free eventhough iv already had 30 days free via the PS3 version?
It would just mean I wouldnt have to pay out to play on a different platform THEN pay for a subscription ontop of that. (Well at least not right away)
Can anyone clear this up for me please?
Edit: Also how come it seems like the PC version of the game costs almost twice as much as the PS3 verson, that makes no sense to me.

From what I understand, FFXIV is actually cross platform - you can get the PS3 version, then later buy the PC version and just have to register it to your existing FFXIV account and you'll be able to play your existing characters on the new version.
The only thing that isn't added is the '30 days free' bonus - that only applies to a new account, not an existing one. Buying a new copy of the game doesn't transfer the 30 days free to your existing characters. But other than that, you can definitely get the PC version and use your characters you created with your PS3 version (or vice versa). ;) -
