Scenarios like from WoW

I know, i'm going to get hate for bringing up WoW, but one thing i really like that they added were scenarios. Being able to queue up for something as a DPS and not having to wait a huge amount of time was nice. I'd love something like that added here.

For those that don't know, scenarios were shorter than dungeons, and it didn't matter your role, less than a full party, but a nice quick run of something with a chance for gold and loot. Guildhests seem "close", but are barely used for anything other than learning your role, and stop at level 40. So much potential seeming unused, especially since the queues for DPS aren't as bad as full dungeons.

Currently DD queues aren't bad because tanks are trying to farm commendations. Wait till that fad is over.

Scenarios would be a nice diversion, though what I'd really love is to see something a la challenge modes in FFXIV. Think of all the wonderful cosmetic rewards!

It's not really a bad idea, scenarios where okay in WoW for the most part and it was something to do while waiting on a Dungeon Queue.

The bad thing though is that Blizzard seems to think scenario content is the future of WoW which resulted in Panda Land having less heroic dungeons, and I've heard Warlords will have either around the same number or possibly less (I could be wrong, feel free to correct me). Anyway what I'm trying to say is adding more content or something else to do while waiting for my 30 minute dungeon queue is nice, but I'd hate to see the development team for this game say that they can make scenario content or dungeon content, not both.

no thanks, I rather not que for more stuff. I would like to do something in the actual world instead of wait and stare at each other.

Yeah, i don't want them to take away to add something like this, more of an "in addition to" if they did it. Also seems weird that guildhests aren't used for more, like holiday events, which could also be trials if you think about it.

That's what open world devolves to anyway, even in games that tout sandbox, it's waiting around for spawn, other members to get there, whatever. Not to mention the headache that bots would cause (and did cause in ffxi), no thank you.

That's what open world devolves to anyway, even in games that tout sandbox, it's waiting around for spawn, other members to get there, whatever. Not to mention the headache that bots would cause (and did cause in ffxi), no thank you.

I hate scenarios in WoW. it took time from dungeons. I don't think we need scenarios we basically have that in Guildhests, just add some story to them.

They were basically the same thing as guildhesths only without the 1 tank 1 healer 2 dps requirement.

So then no do them. They are another way for get endgame gear and progress character, while offering much lore too. Just because you are for hate WoW no for mean it are bad idea.

What bugged me about scenarios is that there was no connection point between the quest or zone in the game and the scenario outside of metaknowledge. Ok so there's a pandaren festival that gets attacked by stuff. Why do I care? Are characters I know involved as well? What's the context?

I'd like XIV to take the idea and improve it by tying it more to lore or give scenarios an unlock quest so that you get actual context and get you to care about them. Following my fictional Maat saga (during beta I suggested Maat be inserted as a young martial artist in training that is a recurring character through different zones), you come upon a hamlet that is on the brink of destruction by bandits or something. After the questline to restore the hamlet and help it stand on its own, you get access to a scenario battle called "Defend the Hamlet!" that you can queue up for. NPCs you helped during the quest line would appear during the scenario, and since Maat was wandering near the town during the questline, he even shows up to help every once in a while.
