I would bloody squeal if they did announce it.
I'd love to see that, but I actually doubt it would be added any time soon - it would invalidate everything Yoshi-P and the rest of the development team have said in the past that new classes and Jobs won't be coming for at least a year. But yeah, I'd love to see MSK in the game finally.
Of course you'd then get the whiners complaining that the game sucks because their favourite Jobs are being ignored in favour of a class even if it was added now (like THF, DRK, RDM, NIN, SAM, BLU, DNC, PUP, BST etc). *shrugs*
they said they were adding new classes during major expansions. (i think i heard someone say that one that the first is in the summer.)
I'd want a new healing class.
There's plenty of ideas for tanks, but what about healers?
They also said they will be adding new classes/jobs through Major Updates as well.
Only confirmed new content not arriving through Major Update is the New Race in 1st expansion

As of now it would seem a bit early since we are just heading into 2.2. However, they have been working on Musketeer since 1.0 and depending on how much the 1.0 team left them will determine how long it will take.Quote:

First of all, we are planning a new race for an expansion pack. For the classes and jobs, we will introduce them through patches because all of the Legacy players have level 50 jobs anyway. When we introduce new classes and jobs we will probably increase the level cap at the same time.
About what I want to introduce- it’s more like what I think I have to introduce. Something related to guns because the (musketeer) guild in the game. Something related to that I think I have to introduce.
Also I do feel that scouting classes are lacking so I want to bring in Thief, Ninja and those that have to do with stealth. Also more casters like Blue Mage and Red Mage are something I would like to add.

Unlikely, while it would be nice, I really don't see that happening. With the coil addition, Leviathan, previous coil adjustments, among other things the chances of them adding a whole new class/job to the mix of things seems rough. Cause remember, it's not as simple as simply throwing a new character in, they have to design that type of class/job in for battle mechanics, how do they deal with every party combination, make sure they have gear available (sharing gear is viable, but some gear is not, AF/AF+1/AF2 (which should hopefully be coming in 2.2)).
I'm sure they're already Working on a new class/job for their first expansion which should hopefully be released sometime by the anniversary date of 2.0's release, but I seriously doubt we'll hear anything regarding that until May at the earliest. Or June, if my predictions remain correct and 2.3 should hit in June, with 2.4 in Sept. So actually I could see them announcing something at 2.3, get the hype building for it, to be released around 2.4 with an actual expansion. But not sooner.
I'd really love for them to finally complete Limsa's guilds, I mean it's only been what 3 years since most people have been expecting Musketeer? They already have of Aiming stuff they can recycle too so it's just AF and weapon designs. Wouldn't be surprised if they didn't release it anytime soon though, at least not before 2.3 if not until the expansion.
It's only been a matter of months since the game came out so they have to balance the existing ones and that'll take some time. You also have PvP and that also needs balanced and fleshed out. A new class should only be introduced when everything is fixed and relatively balanced. If they intend to make new classes they also need some lore and a place to 'host' them and the best place would be a new expansion.
Well currently Musketeer class is the only one with mostly everything done for it. It has the Lore setup already, it is the 3rd Class guild in Limsa, Blacksmiths in Lisma are know to be the Crafters who craft Musketeer Weapons so they have a crafter already, several NPCs are Musketeer Class NPCs such as Merlwyb and a few Maelstrom Members like Merlwyb 2nd and 3rd in command, A few of the Musketeer weapon designs are already released into the game to be used by NPCs, and their Class Guild is already open to public in Lisma and we have access to it.
The Maelstrom currently consist of mostly Musketeers for their Long Range unit.
Yoshi-P also did state we will be getting 1 new class before first expansion as well so most likely it is Musketeer.
Any other classes like the Scout (class that goes into Ninja and Thief) and Melee Mage(Red Mage) may require us to wait for 1st Expansion because of lore reasons similar to why the GunBlade Class will not be released until we get into or near the Garlean Empire because the GunBlade class guild is located in the Garlean Empire.
There is also a large range of players that have everything to 50 so adding a new class now goes along with there plans. Oh and musketeer has been in the game since V1.0 never finished but there. And as the weapon looks like a double barrel shotgun i can see it be a cone attacker hitting multiple enemy's so maybe a demi-tank, Maybe a full blown tank to help with the tank issues in the game. Am just throwing ideas out there.
Oh time scale wise you could say its 3 years after launch. Since version 2.0 it would be 6 months as SE have said it should be a march launch for 2.2
You do realize that 8 months after EQ launched Kunark, it launched a massive expansion pack called Scars of Velious, right? Four months is a decent amount of time for game, once development and production are running...and this team has been around for quite a while....
Past the 4 month mark, even if you do pretend this is a "brand new" game... it's time to start seeing updates with substance. If we expect an expansion within a year.. then we should be expecting a fully implemented CT and Coil, plus most of the baseline primals before then... we're almost to the halfway point time wise.... I don't know about you- but if this is half the endgame content for CT and Coil... and primals... then... sad.
I'd want them to sneak it in. Let us go out and find it. New quest appears... see where it leads to... - yes, this is my wishful thinking :( It would be awesome but it won't happen. Probably see a new class with an expansion/level cap raise.
