Thank You! Yoshida-san for making R50 The Dzemael Darkhold Dungeon NOT EASY :)

Hi All,

Our stalwart forum veteran, Rentahamster found some updated information from the SE Dev Team, posted last night on the JP Forums. I think it's pretty exciting news, and since it got completely washed away in the flame-fest that is the original thread, I figured we should let everyone know in a new thread, that's interested in the R50 Dungeon's difficulty.

I'm glad to hear that this is something that's actually designed to be "hard." I can't wait to see what tactics and strategies and challenges await us in the R50 The Dzemael Darkhold.

Hopefully they tie it into the Grand Companies and their Reputation / Rank System, and we get enough reason to go back to it again and again and explore alternate paths, gain more Points / Reputation / Rank to unlock more stuff. :)

It should be noted that only one of the two dungeon's theme may be "difficulty." The R30 will just be squatted by 50's. The dungeon, and its boss, will be wasted developmental challenge design. Can't design a difficult dungeon aimed at R30's if R50's can go into it and just whore the DLVL around.

Sounds like it could be that we'll have to perform incapacitations in order to kill him. This would tie each party member to a specific role (attack right, left, etc.) and also require a "specialized party" (to target specific areas). I hope there's more to it, though.

So? Why are you so worried about what other players do? If I want to dick around with my R50 character in the R30 dungeon what business is it of yours? I'm not affecting your game play at all.

se version of really hard = normal mob for us.

I'm just going to go ahead and say the midlevel content will be a joke. A bigger one that the R50 dungeon.

Hi Lautus,

Yah, I hope so, too. Perhaps the Boss inhibits the party in certain ways, maybe there are different phases to the fight. It could use different Elemental Defenses throughout (something like what the Pudding do already in the game), or more.

This is the first major content patch under Yoshida-san, so I'm holding out hope it's good. :)

Because your R50 degrades the quality of the content with its presence. Get out of here with that over-leveled crutch. Win on your merit, not your reserve achievement that you never needed merit to gain in the first place.

Same reason putting nitro on a NASCAR unit YA KNOW IF THEY WANT would be stupid. It would take away the entire quality of the race's challenge that it's up to skill, not stats, to win.

I still think its a little premature to say thanks and all of that since we havent got our hands on it. After all, it could just be hard compared to current content and not actually hard

All I hear is "Please don't make my epeen smaller!". Once again, me playing in an R30 dungeon with a R50 doesn't affect you. If a R50 wanted to join your R30 party, you can always reject them and have your challenge.

I have an R25 GLA waiting for that Dungeon itself, It won't be any fun at all to use my R46 LNC ( which is for the R45 Dungeon) to steamroll the R30 Dungeon.

That will be like this:

-Use my R46 LNC to tear apart the R30 Dungeon
-Now that I completed it 4 or 5 times I'm bored of it now because the mobs were so easy

So yes I'm sticking to what its ment for a Class around the R25-30ish

Glad to hear there is something challenging on the way. Even if I can't finish it for a long time, it's good to know that there are still goals out there for me to strive for.

I am. I have 1 R50 and the rest are at R25-R30 I think at the highest. I plan on doing the Grid dungeon at appropriate level.

Seconded.

Additionally, SE's definition of hard tends to be along stupid things like "/kneel before odin to mitigate Zantetsuken's damage". I mean, if this boss has a ground phase, an air phase, has adds that need to be killed and maybe even optional boss-level adds that join the fight, I'll be impressed.

If the boss moves I'll be impressed. That's one of my biggest gripes out most MMOs and I suppose the aggro system as a whole. Once hate is established on one person the boss really doesn't move unless someone else pulls hate which in a good party ideally won't happen.

Going entire NM fights with the NM standing in the same place facing the same direction gets boring. If they at least moved around a little bit it would be a little more interesting.

SE version of really hard is Pandemonium Warden, Absolute Virtue, Vrtra, U/O fight, etc....

When SE says something is hard, especially since this is compromised of a lot of old XI devs, it will be hard...

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. :) I would be pleasantly shocked (in a good way) if the Boss of The Dzemael Darkhold was as hard or harder than Absolute Virtue. :)

Or maybe give us a more tactical version of the hard Emerald & Ruby Weapon. ;)

Ah the u/o airship fight before the removal of the cap. That was a pain in the ass but fun fight.

How can I do the 30s "as they are intended" if all my combats are 50 anyways? not a /brag

I'm expecting the biggest challenge will be finding 7 people to enter with.

Well then you don't. Sorry but its as simple as that. If they managed not to fubar the gear and item distribution the only reason you would want to go into toto as some one who who's capped out all of your combats would be to jog through it and see what in there.



But any who I really do hope the Darkhold is difficult, flying spagetti monster knows this game needs something with bite. but much like the rain that has been foretasted in my area for the past two weeks, i will believe it when I'm standing in it

Oh, I wasn't saying it because I'm upset or complaining. I was just responding to all the people telling others that they're doing it wrong if they enter with their 50s.

I agree with you.

My lowest combat class is R43 so i guess ill be doing the R30 dungeon around R43ish.

Or you could do one set of leves and get to 45.

FFXI generally had much more difficult battles than any other MMO. Most MMOs are complete jokes though. I'll look foward to this dungeon, and hopefully everyone else gets mashed under the boss's hooves/feet/floaties/tentacles/brains.

He said his "lowest" combat class is rank 45, so all his other classes are rank 46+.

He wants to experience the R25 dungeons as intended by playing as a rank 25 class, but he can't. That's the issue here.

Please note that they must design content for people that will be coming into the game upon PS3 release. If you want to experience the R30 dungeons as they were meant to be, roll a new character and do them at R30 :P

Who cares if R50s want to spend their time on outleveled and obselete content?
