Suggestions against summoner?

Hey guys,

I'm still pretty new to PvP but I think I'm getting the hang of it. I'm just wondering what you guys do to mitigate the summoner's damage overall? I play as bard and sometimes pillar hug when I see ranging strikes poped or look like they are starting on me while keeping in los with the healer. If I have full dots up I purify to not die to fester. In full i70 gear I sometimes get pretty much destroyed with crit enkindle(2200). Any tips?

Wait until the burst gets toned down.
This game doesn't have enough depth to really avoid it in any decent way. LoSing works a bit but a decent summoner can deal with that easily.

Also screw around on the forums and tell every summoner they're scumbags. Maybe you'll make them feel bad and they'll stop playing it. :3

Purifying their dots is the best way to mitigate their damage, but it will not stop good ones from globaling you sooner or later. Having a tank friend lock them down is also a viable option or putting them in Sleep. In the end, however, when they wish to kill something - they will kill it.

tell your dps not to overextend, summoners tend to pick the dumbest dps who will just sit in the open.. 9/10 times the person getting bursted has no idea that he/she is taking dmg.. Have them save some tp for a quick sprint behind the wall/pillar you are sitting at.

That's if they are on a dps.

If they are on you. LOS, try not to trinket their dots, since heavy isnt included in the dot anymore you are still very mobile and can probably dispel disease/masima. Dont blow a trinket on their dots right away. They want that. The melee dps will just stun you asap and probably kill you in their first stun. Put the SMN on focus. Your biggest goal is making it impossible to hard cast on you.

with bard it is pretty easy loss since u can stand near pillar all of the time. lvl 90 gear will help you survive too. if endkindle crit 2.2k that mean u are undergeared compared ur opponents.

Purify dots and then pray they aren't a decent player. There are a few 3man groups with a smn in it that put out so much damage so quickly I feel as if I am made of paper. It's like...walk out the gate and 3 team members are dead already. I don't like situations that feel futile and you can't out-skill what is happening by any means.

Thank you all for replies. I guess I'll just have to get better at line of sighting and grind to rank 30!

If you are on BRD, your best bet is to LoS behind the walls. If they are targeting you, they are probably going to pop Raging Strikes and Equanimity so that you can't interrupt their DoT casts, and then chase after you to hit you with Fester/Energy Drain/Wither/Aetheretic...and they might buff Garuda to prepare Enkindle, and all of that will kill you.

If you can LoS them long enough that their initial buffs wear off, you should at least stand a chance. But if they're in i90 gear, you're gonna die sooner or later

I like to assume that people with i90 gear have done enough pvp to know how to kill someone lol

Pop hotbarred mega-dex potion > Raging Strikes > Barrage, and pay your trusty tank 1k to dance with the healer for about 10 seconds :D
