SE i think its time to raise ilvl Requirements on new content and Enforce it. CoB to.

Talking about this in another thread (about something else) and figured I would start a new one.


I'm seeing a lot of people upset about 2.2 and the way things are going more or less with new gear ilvls and T1-T5 weely cap removal. For one Yoshi said they are removing the weekly cap but he didn't say if there would be a new one. So don't be surprised the next live letter when he says the new lockout is something like 72hrs. I very seriously doubt that they will remove the entire week lockout and let all pre ilvl90 gear become obsolete. Because if they did then players could endlessly spam T1-T5 for gear and never have to do any other content.

So having said that I think that SE should put higher ilvl requirements on future content.

Players will have to spend a little more time gearing a job. But seeing as how each new patch is about every 3 months that is enough time for everyone to gear and do content. Not like it is hard to get a few extra pieces of DL or farm Phil tomes to get a ilvl70 acc item.

Example Crystal tower is ilvl50 means a fresh 50 could basically bypass all Darklight (ilvl70) and jump into ilvl80 (if CT 1 loot a week is removed). To late to raise the ilvl now on CT but that's doesn't mean future content can't have stricter requirements. So if Crystal Tower was ilvl 68-70 to enter all that means is full DL and a ilvl70 Crafted ring.


Future CoB turns 6-9 could be ilvl90 to enter. If anyone says that's impossible your only fooling yourself, A mix of Allagan and Relic and your full ilvl90. Just people will have to in effort but its not hard to do especially seeing as how CoB t1-5 weekly lockout is being lifted or reduced.


Point is Raise ilvl Requirements on all content. It isn't going to hurt the game in fact it might help. And they player base wont be effected by it where they can't do content.

One place in particular where the ilvl should have been higher is Pharos Sirius. I dread getting PS on Duty Roulette Beat it a few times. But Its almost impossible to do with players at the min ilvl requirement.

Yeah, the ilvl requirements are too low. Practically raising them all by 5-7 would be perfect IMHO.

Don't worry about it. There will still be insane ilvl requirements in party finder.

fresh 50 with i50? i dont think so O_o some of the class armor is i45 and you need to go through lengths to get relic so I was stuck at no more than i47-i49 until getting darklight items.
SE and testers would have run and tested this at the level requirement theyve set so if they can do it so can we. just needs patience instead of people wanting an easy ride.

They need to because it should have already been done. But I guess since Crystal Tower wasn't in at launch they could really do it for Coils cause we had 20ilvl gap.

Only in the first week after reaching level 50. After the week it should be no problem to have 1 CT gear and the remain slots full of DL. In the second week he have 2 CT gear for the main and full DL for a future alt.

Oh, and I hope we get recipes for crafted ilevel 90 gears now ^^

Just went and logged on and yes a fresh level 50 is exactly ilvl50 unless you want to nitpick fresh. All AF gear, Full ilvl49 Accessories including waist, And a level 50 Grand Company Weapon puts you at ilvl50. Also there is some other gear that a fresh 50 could buy to put them over ilvl50 that's isn't ilvl70 gear.

Make BCoB ilvl 78 min and CT won't be obsolete from the start. 24-48hr loot lockout as well)

Bypass darklight? At 200 tomes a run, unless they're incredibly lucky they're gonna get plenty of darklight before they get the 6 i80 pieces in CT.

I'm 95% sure there will be some lockout 24hrs-72hrs. Only other thing I could see them doing is 2 items per turn per week. Seems possible, If they can keep track of Crystal Tower loot don't think it would be much harder to keep track of CoB loot.

Pre-i90 gear will not become obsolete at all. It's still basically a requirement in order to even get to coil.
To enter coil at all you need to go through Ifrit HM, Garuda HM and Titan HM.
It's not that likely that the fresh 50 will buy his way through just so he can enter coil at i50.
So the fresh 50 has to start gearing up.
The natural progression would be to get some WP/AK pieces and fill out with DL, while collecting one CT piece a week.
First two weeks myth will go towards a relic upgrade to zenith (unless they lift the myth cap right away).
Ifrit can be done fast, Garuda reasonably fast, Titan when you have geared up some.
Reasonable time from hitting 50 to entering coil for the first time... at least 3-4 weeks for casuals.
There's no reason to assume that someone that took their time to get to 50 in the first place would farm tomes fast enough to get full DL within a week or two.
While there will always be players who will do that, that's the minority.

More, complete, high-level craftable gearsets please. I want to be able to run most or all content with gear I made, not gear I had to pillage, Indiana Jones style, from an ancient Allag installation.

As for your MNK, Your gear is Decent and I don't see what content you are doing that people are leaving over it. Now if you are trying to do Extreme Fights I could see players leaving. Hell I see people leave after the 1st wipe even with high ilvl geared players.


And this is another reason why ilvl requirements need be higher. If they were higher or I should say scaled to the content correctly, You wouldn't have players with the minimum gear requirements showing up to do content that is 20 ilvls higher. So in a way I see why these "Elite" players act the way they do because they don't want to spend hours and hours trying to beat one boss. But some tend to take it to far "One Death your out" or Rage Quit.

I meant when I started out in my AF1 gear. I do feel people were being harsh on me and are still towards newbies now.
I am doing Extreme Primals in DF as my average ilvl is 74 and thus too low for most 83-87 parties in PF. I didn't make it past Garuda. However I don't feel having ilvl 74 or 90 will make a difference, as I always wipe due to tanks not knowing what to do or the usual insta-ragequitters after 1 error. It might give me access to Party Finder squads but I'll never get the feeling that improving my gear magically improves my skill level. I'll still be playing the exact same as I did before.

Not trying to say that full ilvl whatever gear is going to make you the best player. The higher ilvl gear you have the more HP you get. A few hundred HP may not sound like a lot, but it helps so people can afford to make a mistake here and there. Also the higher gear the higher your DPS/Healing/ or survivability as a tank. Just helps make content more forgiving. As I said it doesn't matter if a party is decked out in gear or not, I've been to parties that after the first wipe someone leaves. Like I said if you are having issue with Duty Finder try to use Party Finder, On my server I see practice parties for Extremes all the time. Not trying to bash Duty Finder got my first Titan HM through DF only took 46 tries ^^.

I also wouldn't be surprised if they drastically increased philosphy tomes from all dungeons inclduing the story ones when 2.2 hits and ease off on the lotting restrictions in CT. Darklight will be pretty much trash gear so there's no real reason to make it all that time consuming to acquire.

Although I in part agree with you (the fact people skip DL gear in crystal tower etc), I don't think the ilvl requirement should be raised much, maybe by 5 at most. People put too much emphasis on gear honestly when in the end a difference of ilvl 10 up or under makes very little difference if the group is coordinated or skilled.
