Fake? God I hope so, those concepts look terrible.
Can't see the pic op
Decent Photoshop effort, but its fake.
All fixed!
BUT THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN T.T
id love something like this:

Yeah, it's definitely fake - official concepts shown in the Live Letters normally have 'Confidential' and SE copyright notes clearly shown on them. This has it blanked out along with the artwork titles. The DRK did look convincing, but the RDM is so clearly doctored it looks like a MS Paint job.
I don't think this is actually about the art per se, it's more about the fact that these two classes need to be in the game fullstop, which I whole-heartedly agree with, Red Mage hnnnggghhhh <3
Though its fake I like the dark knight
i would like both, would be nice to see how they would play with other classes.
This. Now if it looked like a modified version of this (seriously needs pants, though):

honestly, idc about either one of them.
I do respect that red mage has been around since the first ff. In that way, red mage and thief both need to be around.
But I would like something different, a class that not the same as the other in usage.
Dark knight looks cool, plays boring.
I want something different. Something not like the other classes already in the game.
Musketeer does sound interesting.
Other things that would be cool and play differently, like chemist, blue mage, even ninja.
Red Mage would need it's own class I think, or be one of those hybrid classes that were mentioned that would require both CNJ and THM, but I can't see that coming for a long while.
Blue Mage I think would work well as a tank coming from the Gladiator class. Just give them an ability at 30 to learn Blue Magic from monsters, there's plenty of unique defensive and offensive moves out there that mobs use.
Only job I wish they would add is dancer.
So fake :( took me 5 seconds to realize how underdeveloped the concepts were
Nice try, really.
wasn't my pic, i just found it and wanted to bring some new class love back to the forums!
It's not a staff, it's a rapier but shown upside down (the basket hilt is at the top, near the model's head.
Regardless, SE will tell us when new jobs are coming out when the time is right, and I'm gonna bet they'll have a video preview for us of the new job, rather than some concept art (or a video, plus concept art).
I'm in full support of both - so long as Red Mage isnt seen as just a solo job, it needs gravitas in a party too. example: in the way that I see my HP increase in a party, maybe red mage gets an increase to spell damage within a party to make it a firmer damage role.
I've never been a fan of Dark Knight, but I've always absolutely loved Red Mage, so I'd be really happy if it was brought into the game sometime. I'm not usually a fan of playing mage classes, but I'd play the hell out of Red Mage if it was added.
Though if it's a choice between a class with dual pistols/guns in general and a Red Mage... I'd have to go with the pistols.
Red Mage
Ranger
Dancer
Blue Mage
Samurai
Ninja
Dark Knight (batman?)
Beast master
Green Mage
Illusionist
Spell Blade
I would like to see these :'(
Speak for yourself bud. I was Dark Knight main in FFXI and I loved every bit of it. I was never bored in exp parties or any other content. I enjoy heavy hitting dps classes in general, although I hope there is some more flashiness to the standard weaponskills for FFXIV's Drk. However, given the lackluster animations on many current melee dps weaponskills... well, I guess we'll have to sit and wait and see.
I just wish I didn't have to wait until an expansion to even hope to see Dark Knight become realized.
My only fears are that they screw up Drk completely somehow and turn it into a tanking job. That would probably ruin it for me, and quite possibly the entire game (for me).
Granted, when Dark Knight is released in XIV, it'll likely be nothing quite like it was in XI which could be good or bad depending on the ultimate outcome.
Actually while in a new job thread... has anyone noticed any word on musketeer and/or canoneer yet? i've lost track... lol
Totally off topic but wow Shori your like the prettiest miqo i ever seen take the hat off!! I wanna copy your character with my last fantasia XD
Also As much as I would love some xi classes here( and archer feeling more rangerish) I would like a support class that could actually enfeeble bosses a bit better. slow dispel gravity blind, these would be lovely.
Red Mage as a jack-of-all-trades is more a game-specific role. At its core, the job is a mix of melee and magic with middle-range equipment all around. This arose directly from FF1's design, where single-target damage was for melee jobs and AoE damage was for mages. You could only have 4 jobs of 6 and couldn't swap them out, so Red Mage did everything decently. That need disappeared in future job-based FF games, which is why Red Mage ended up with the doublecast ability. In FF3, it tried to be what it was in FF1, and that role no longer existed, so the job just sucked. In FF5, it got doublecast and was pretty boss until you mastered the ability and put it on other jobs.
In FFXIV, Red Mage would clearly be a DPS job. Mechanically, you can even pay homage to FF1 by focusing the spells as AoE damage and weaponskills as single-target damage. It also offers the opportunity to use more close-range spells (cone, line, PBAoE, even channeled ones). You could create any number of additional mechanics for keeping things interesting, but that's all beside the point.
For doods, maybe, but not my lady elfy. XDQuote:
