Vanity System Requiring Crafters? What Kind of Joke is This?

So I have to level more crafting classes for vanity? I'm assuming I have to be level 50 to craft vanity for my gear.

Yet I can jump on a F2P and there's my vanity system. Drag and Drop, boom I'm in my vanity piece. And i don't pay to play that game.

Enough grinding and leveling unnecessary jobs and classes. I don't pay to grind and level classes i don't ever want to touch because they do not interest me.

Please, cut the BS SE. It's already a grind. Quit adding more grinds.

Or you could 'probably' have crafters that you know help you out. Similar to requesting repairs or melds. Hard to say.

It's something to make crafting worthwhile though, which is a much needed addition overall.

Can anyone post how vanity is going to work?

If it means you need a crafter's help to equip a piece, well... anything that gives crafters more use is a plus imo. Why not buy the service instead of leveling the crafter? Repairs were suppose to be done by crafters as well as materia melds.

If it means you can't do vanity unless you are a crafter, well then that is just stupid.

Is giving crafting something actually useful in this game really a bad thing? Chances are YOU yourself don't need it 50, so just get a couple friends that are weird enough to craft. At least crafting will have a point in this game finally.

As far as I'm aware of, all they said is rely on crafting.

There's many possibilities as to what that truly means.

But no, we're just gonna jump straight to blaming SE.

Most Free to Play games F2P typically require you to buy the Vanity gear (wings, and other stuff) from the cash shop.
Everyone needs to monetize somehow.

Plus you don't have to craft anything youself you can buy it at the marketboard. If the materials go up then you have a way to make gil from farming. Win Win for everyone.

Missed the feed of this, so is the vanity going to be like Terra (vanity slot) or like WoW (transmog)?

Great joke thread OP, best I've seen in a while.

Vanity through crafting is maybe the best notice of the patch.

I just hope materials be costly and service hard to make, with a big failure chance, so people will need to invest in the markets and pay properly to crafters for each piece they want to be "vanity". It would be a great plus for crafting, besides that, now that we are into, dye system should also be made by crafters and crafters alone.

Whaaa? Where did you hear this from? I thought they were just saying you could make vanity only gear by crafting.

They've said we won't have vanity slots so most are assuming it will be more akin to the transmog system.

My guess is that EITHER crafters will be able to make and sell special skins to use in transmogs or they will be able to craft some kind of catalyst necessary for transmogs. All we actually know though is that crafters make 'glamours' and SE gave no explanation of what purpose these things will serve so the OP's post is all kinds of silly.

People been saying that the economy stinks. If they add a catalyst for each crafting class, All crafters will benefit from this. It will put "some" spark into the economy, which I will agree is much needed.

x+y=z x= original gear y=class specific catalyst z= New gear from vanity.

Example:

1) Head gear (x) needs "armorer catalyst" (y) to form (z) new head gear.
2) Body gear (x) needs "weaver catalyst" (y) to form (z) new body gear.

If it's something like this, every crafter class (most) will benefit from this.

gear will be free anyways people have FC's. only the first few days will make money till theres billions of everything for sell. just like the lv50 DOH & DOL gear. doubt this will fix the economy.

alot of people have atleat one lvl50 craft now & on legacy servers alot have all lv50.

Not totally fix, but it's a start in the right direction. because with the mindset you described ( Gear will be free based on the FC), the economy will never will be truly fixed. Also, not all FC have multiple crafting classes leveled. Small FCs will most likely hit this wall. There are more Small FCs then there is big. Also, even in a big FC's there will be people that want to earn money so they still charge FC's even at a discounted rate.

Personally I think it's a step in the right direction in fixing the economy but it doesn't fix the overall problem.

If I can describe it in one word, that word would be "balance".

How can they fix undercutting in terms of crafters? Make at least 1 part of a rare recipe hard to get.
How can they fix undercutting in terms of Gathering? Well that one can be tricky

The thing here is there is a fine line between what SE can do and what is out of their control. Some things like making items rare to get SE can do. What is out of their control is how the players themselves price them. The more players to do gathering/crafting the more items of that nature will turn up in the market boards which will undercut.

Making a stable economy is hard to do when most of it is player related.

I don't see any notes or anything, where is this new Vanity Info?

I can't think of very many F2P games where vanity is free... at least for the good stuff.

I can think of one, and only one way in which the "glamour" system is acceptable to me. Squeenix, I hope you're listening...

These mirage prisms? Whether they're crafted by DoH folk or not, they should be items similar to soulstones that we store in a new tab in the armoury (this part is important, as the key here is you can have multiple prisms, and no one's gonna want those taking up precious inventory space). So once you've got your mirage prism, you click on it and open up an interface similar to the character paperdoll, with all the gear slots available to you. Drag and drop the gear you want in there and it saves the look to that slot. Once you're done, you can equip the mirage prism into a new slot in your character pane to override your current look with the saved one you just created. Presto! An actually decent vanity system that, while perhaps a bit clunky, still works in a manner similar to wardrobe slots and doesn't have the annoyances that come with reskinning systems.

Please let this be how it works. x.x

You wont need to level any crafts, just shout for a crafter or buy it already made. And we all know the price of this vanity gear is just going to plummet like everything else on the markets.

God forbid crafting have any hint of relevance.
Jeez. And it's not even required.

This is a game where you can take any job you want to the max level and you're upset that it might require you to do something else just to look different? Hell, you might even be able to just request it from someone.

Double hell, it might just boil down to that crafters can make vanity looking gear at all.

Yeah, the specifics are still behind closed doors.

However, one thing I think is relatively certain, is that a "filled prism" (to adopt the system Naunet described) will not be tradeable. If it is then people would be able to wear looks from gear they don't have. (E.g. I fill a prism with full Allagan iLv90 tanking set and sell it to someone who's never set foot in BC.)

My take on the system is that each prism holds the image of one piece of gear. Admittedly, not really looking forward to this myself. I really feel like being able to look the way you want should just be a given these days and not require some contrived system.

But I'll wait until we get details to judge.

Being the pessimist I am, the only thing I'm hoping is that the vanity looks won't go away once you enter combat. That's probably the worst thing they could do.

So does the transmog or whatever you want to call it overwrite the gear you have now permanently? If so I don't care for the system. Also, whether it be a plus or not making crafting useful, I don't think that's the way to do it.

In Japan, they're calling it the Mirage Prism system.
I'm assuming that means it'll act like some sort of item to project a set on top of your current gear.

Or it will work like the Materia System...

Glamour will probably work akin to gear dying...
Crafters will supply the "glamour dyes", and people can select to apply to any gear of their choice.

If they want to remove the glamour later, removal will probably work like dye removal as well...

If you invested as much time into reading this thread as you do making it a point to whine about complainers in this and your other posts, you might have realized that no crafter here is complaining except an apparent non crafter OP that's upset they might have to level their crafting to 50 to do vanity. May this error serve you well as you eventually progress to lv 50 TRL, thanks to the mistakes you made and learned from.

Im glad they are givin more use to the Crafts. In this game lv up a craft is Really easy.

Having enough Leves and some gil you can power level a craft lv 40 in 3 hours. Lol

I would imagine that people who are concerned or outright dislike the idea aren't the crafters crying about being "useless". When a single person makes a topic about said concerns and others agree, these people aren't necessarily representative of each and every single user/member/player. Yes, this means that there are people with differing opinions and values in the world. Crazy, I know.
