stop using SS

SS yes, the letters, it can be sacred soil, stoneskin or spell speed, some times i dont know what you are talking about xD:confused:

Before the fight starts, it means Stoneskin.
When you're not in a fight talking about stats it means Spell speed.
When you're in a fight it means Sacred soil.

I'm sure people can refine and say that better, but essentialy context determines what it menas.

Annnnnd... sometimes it means Screenshot! :p

FFXIV players aren't the most adept at understanding this, "context" thing you speak of.

Seriously. When I started working at my government job I had to memorize exactly 509,182,401 acronyms/abbreviations.

Whenever I said soil, no one understands what it meant. It happened at least 5 times.. not even kidding..

SS - Spell Speed
SS - Sacred Soil
SS - Stoneskin

Got it? Good. On a serious note though, it's all about context; if someone is claiming to have 31 SS on his robe, I doubt he's talking about Sacred Soils or Stoneskins. At the same time, if someone is telling the WHM to SS before Mountain Buster, it's not Sacred Soil.

Oh, and usually people use SKS and SPS for stats.

When people use it for Shroud of Saints it makes my head hurt. >.<

agreed, in a day in the military, u will hear at least 50 (remember: at least taht many) acronyms....and depending on job

Also it's not stone skin. WHM stoneskin upgrade is graniteskin. Say GS instead :P or else your pld will cast a gimped version of the spell on you.

The point of that is being that if you use your context clues provided to you in the conversation you should be able to figure out which version of SS you need to use.

One of the other posters described it referencing times you experience, pre fight, during fight, and not engaged theorycrafting and discuss stats.

anytime: dont forget to drop a SS, dont forget to us SS to drop agro whm, SS me after landslide cause it helps
