people leaving FATEs midway and still getting gold

I think this pretty much sucks. Especially on boss monsters (e.g. Roc in coerthas).
When there are already other FATEs nearby, people will just leave once they have dealt enough damage etc. and get gold anyway and can already start the next FATE.
Other people can leave as well, resetting the whole FATE or killing the boss with 3-4 monsters.
I think FATEs need some system like if you haven't participated(dmg,heal,etc.) for 60 seconds, your whole FATE progress is resetted. People will rethink leaving FATEs midway then and won't leave the tank and some others to kill the last bit of the boss dealing pretty low damage in general ._.

Sure they have done their part for gold, but is it really fair to just leave midway leaving 3-4 people behind? I just know for sure that I won't stay behind and simply reset the fate if they don't want to end it properly.

I try not to doubt others. Sometimes real life gets in the way. Of course, that's not always the case, but I like my optimistic bubble. ^ u^

They should just make it so that if you move more than 100 meters or whatever from the radius of the FATE when it ends you get no credit. That will allow people to leave the FATE circle if you need to run for a moment without loosing credit, but also stops people from moving on to other FATEs early. Also as long as you are there when it ends even if you died and had to return you would still get credit as long as you came back.

I agree 100%, but wish that if it was a tank of some sort he would stick around. I've seen some up and left - dragging the fate mob with them and reseting it all because Svara was up for example. (Yes they still get participation points even on reset.)

Boss type FATE contribute points get reset if the boss get reset only fates that doesn't reset contribute points is the one killing multiple mobs and turning in items. Since you can't really reset dead mobs or take back item you already turn in.

Oh Look Svara! 10 seconds later Roc ! tele, ninja roc hit to 70% tele to whatever fates comes in during svara period (7-8 fates available for ninja), /shout % svara? run asap hit svara and BAMMMMMMM dirty exp profit (pity those fools who only do svara MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH)

There's nothing wrong with doing this, and it is in fact beneficial for everyone. If you leave a FATE after doing enough contribution, the FATE will last longer, allowing others to finish their contribution.

They should just take fates out of the game. no one likes them.

Personally I hate it. In fact, people were doing it in East Shroud yesterday. I was with a small group (5 man + 3 chocobo) and at every FATE 90% of the people would bail half way into it. Our group was the only ones left to complete them. We eventually got fed up and decided to do what they did. The boss reset himself and no one got the win. A random tank raged at us complaining that we didn't kill the boss and how all his work was wasted and yada yada yada. Someone in the group just told him flat out, "if you want your atma, you're going to have to contribute 100% or we will continue bailing as well and no fates will be completed."

My only regret is that we had no control over the multi-mob FATEs since everyone is pretty much guaranteed to medal on those, success or failure.

I've at least noticed when I stay sync'd until the end of a Fate for Atma, I obtain them. When I run around from fate to fate, I've never gotten a drop that way. I am currently 6/12 with this.
