[dev1082] Get the mount system right please

Please do not give us a rental mount. Please give us a mount that is always with us. I'm sure a majority of the players will agree and want Chocobo breeding, gearing, and unlock quests to make the Chocobo run faster while the player is mounted on it. For example:

Stage 1: Breeding stages
Stage 2: Gearing/decoration (this will be allowed anytime after this stage)
Stage 3: Ready for mount (40% increase in speed compared to foot speed)
Stage 4: 60% increase in speed from the original foot speed
Stage 5: 80% increase in speed from the original foot speed
Stage 6: Mount Wars - Specific Scenerios/Missions/Areas (a lot of work for this to happen, including overhaul of battle system to make everything instant with no animation delays. Animation for battles should be seamless)

I agree. Having more content involving mounts would be a great idea. Although, I still don't mind rentals for those who don't want to take the time in breeding (but who wouldn't take the time?). I think in FFXI, when it came to calling a mount, they were right in having a limitation on it. Mounts need to rest, don't they? Probably not a good argument though considering that our characters never need rest. But I don't want a WoW repeat where you can stay on your mount forever and never being forced to go on foot like any true adventurer would like to do. I know in FFXI I picked walking many times over renting a Chocobo (especially when prices hit 6k before).

I doubt you'll be able to do anything with a mount that isn't renting or riding, being that it hasn't been important up until now and isn't a huge concern for them. That they mention that chocobos will be included implies there will be other creatures to ride, as well. Still, I would be upset if they ignored key game-play issues to implement some mini-game.

I'm excited to hear any ideas about Chocobos and what we can do with them in Eorzea, it makes for great future adventures and content choices for players.

Although I would be more than happy right now just having a bird of my own to rent/raise/ or ride, I would like to see in the future mounted combat with Chocobos, and other fun activities with your bird. Serving as a portable retainer around the field would be awesome too!

After SE gets all the needed updates done with and out of the way, and they can relax and think of new things to brainstorm over for players, I would fully welcome ideas like this to be brought up to them and thought over with the dev. team!

I'm expecting for us to talk to stables NPC, pay a fee and pop outside mounted. I doubt there will be any breeding system anytime soon...for now i also would just expect chocobos.

Maybe when shepherd is out they add some breeding stuff for both mount and pet creation.

we are well due for chocobos :o)...both rented and hopefully the ability to breed somewhere down the road.

for now i would be happy enough with a rented chocobo since its been........?..months i have lost track lol

I want to see more than chocobos. Yes they should be there for thier classic nature and they should have multiple colors, looks, ect. But, one of the things I personaly enjoyed most about WOW was the wide variety of mounts to collect and ride as well as all the various ways to obtain them. I would also like to see content that encourages use of the mounts for various purposes. Being able to fly eventually would also be nice, that was very interesting aswell. The reason I quit WOW was raids took days to complete with little chance of getting what you want and it had to be done for high quality gear. I loved dynamis in FFXI, you had 3 hours and you were successfull or failed, but I didn't like that you could only do it every 3 days. If it could be done every day, it would accommodate people with alot of time and people that can only play a few days a week. By making it possible to raid every day and take a short time to do it, everyone would get to join as they're able provided linkshells and players are active enough. I would also like to see a pet collection system where you can collect and train pets to be a bit usefull in battle with its function being determined by its type and training.

That last post did get off topic a bit, but the mention of endgame intrigued me. One thing I hated about endgame in any MMO was having to show up on a certain day at a certain time. Dynamis was really bad because of how infrequent you could do it, and the only real way you could do it was with a LS. I like content that you can just get a pickup party and go with it.

Back to mounts ... having a variety of mounts would be cool. The Empire uses a lot of different machines, so why can't we have something like that for a mount? Why not have a quest where we have to fight a few Empire guys on something resembling motorcycles and for winning you get that as a mount? Or if SE would rather stick with Chocobos, can we rent some that have armor? Or if breeding is possible can we equip them with different gear? That way they're not just a chicken that we ride around on. Combat while mounted is a cool idea too :)

I want areas with tall thick grass covering the entrance so that you HAVE to have a chocobo to get through into it (FFXII). What would be even better is if you do have a time limit of 20 minutes (time will probably vary) before the chocobo kicks you off, you can make some of these areas more than 20 minutes away from any rental choco's. This gives reason for you to breed your own chocobo to have to call it when you are closer to the areas.

You can even have places that are so high only chocobos can jump up to.

This jump feature is a mechanic used in FFXIII...i like the idea...just like the one of FFVII where chocobos could climb, swim or fly...would be very interesting you needing a specific chocobo to access a specific area.

But obviously when i say swim i mean cross deep water lakes or reach islands near the coast...not swim like they did in FFVII. Same would work for fly and climb...climb being for straigh long ramps that cannot be climbed by players anf flying being more like small floating over canyons and ledges.
