Actually, I saw my queue times drop to <5min for high level roulette as dps after the data center changes versus 30-40min queue for WP or AK pre 2.1.
What are you queueing for?
Roulette will always be faster because you have more than 1 option. When you queue for 1 specific dungeon then you get to wait A LOT.
I also get into most dungeons a lot easier. I used to take 20-30 minutes to get into WP on my BLM, now it barely takes 15 minutes. I get into HM primals instantly, too, whereas before it took about 5-10 minutes.
The only dungeons I have a hard time getting into are Brayflox's Longstop, The Stone Vigil and Dzemael Darkhold. Even as a healer it takes forever to get into these because the Low Level Roulette doesn't seem to put many people in anything above Haukke Manor (in my experience).
Selected dungeons and guildhests seem to take much longer. My guess is that it's down to the roulette feature. The roulette seems to favour a select few so that depletes the pool for those dungeons not on the roulette rotation.
Changing the server structure back to what it was before will not really solve the actual problem. The aren't enough tanks and/or healers queuing up in the Duty Finder to match the amount of DPS in the queue. FFXIV isn't the only game with a group finder feature like this. WoW for instance has the the same issue. It's just that players prefer to play DPS classes instead of healing or tanking.
Widening the search will most likely increase the queue time even more, due to the possible increase of DPS players.
The introduction of the roulette with the class bonus is a step in the right direction, but unless more people queue up as a tank or healer, the problem will never "go away".
Duty Roulette seems easy to Q in and am a DRG
How about you sort it out yourself and go make some friends to queue up with you.....
Too many people DPSing.
That's the unfortunate truth, there's nothing that can be done aside from forcing/convincing people to tank and heal.
I play BLM and it was my experience that right after the 2.1 patch, I had the fastest queue times ever!Unfortunately that only lasted a couple of days, and now I am back to long queue times for dungeons! The only thing that still works fast for me is the low-level Guildhests Roulette.Ah it was a glorious couple of days where I was enjoying fast queue times!
It's different every time for me. Sometimes I get in an instance in under 5 minutes as DPS. Other times, like two days ago when I was waiting for main scenario roulette, it can take half an hour.
Lol playing DPS is not an excuse....
Then how about you be the one to man up and roll tank? No? Okay, carry on.
What makes me mad is even though i'm a tank and i get instant queues, I have to sit there and requeue about 30 times because people keep are constantly dropping over and over and over. I'm assuming its so multiple 8m groups can queue together? But its just annoying as hell.
If there were 2 DPS per tank per healer everything would be perfect, unfortunately this is far from the case. However the problem is not restricted to DPS. Try queing for DD or AV as a healer you'll still be waiting a very long time. Solution? Mid Level dungeon roulette which awards maybe 20 myth. Less than High level but still worth doing. It would include everything from Brayflox to Aurum Vale. This would ease problems, not fully, but to an extent.
Also there is an in-game feature called a "Free Company" use it.
Finally for low level dungeons, up to halatali if everyone is geared and gets level synced you could do these as 3 DPS and a summoner healing if you really wanted if you can't find a tank or healer.
I wonder if it would be feasible for SE to create tank/healer AIs that could be added to a pt after something like 20 mintues have passed trying to get in. They'd need to have a script tailored to every specific boss and dungeon leg. Movement would be a whole other problem, since you usually want the tank at the front of the pack(might have to make them phantoms or something that spawn when you aggro, and despawn once the mobs are gone). Probably way too complicated to get working well, though.
They did it for XI, but somehow I doubt it would work in XIV since they seem to not add stuff even XI has. The 'Trust' Healers are actually pretty good AI the only problem is due to the limitations of the system, they won't do much until you're engaged to the enemy (auto-attack) given how old the game is, so in a newer game it'd probably be like having another person with you.
They got rid of our companions for a reason and it's very unlikely to be story wise.
Hour+ long queue times, I keep hearing about things like this and it just blows my mind. I have never seen anything like that. Yes I do play tanks and healers more than DDs but even on DD the longest I've ever seen has been 20 minutes. Out of curiosity, why is it taking so long for yall?
Simple solution to whining about queue times: BE A TANK OR HEALER. Case closed, problem solved, everyone happy.
Be a man! Prove that duty finder wrong!
Make your own party in less then 1 hour!
When people queue for a specific dungeon, the duty finder will automatically fill those specific dungeons queues on a first come first serve basis (a queue). It's basically a queue within a queue, where if you queue for a specific, it has to fill all of the other specifics until it gets to your own, hence why wait times can take longer that way, or why it so often gives people the lower level story dungeons. Queueception!
Get a tank/healer buddy and q with them. It's sad, but that's really all you can do other than playing one yourself. I sure wish I could play my dps classes more, got em all geared to the teeth and almost never use them D:
So, a couple problems with this. You dismissing the statement "you are dps" goes to show how shallow your thinking process is. Square cannot make tank and/or healer roles just appear out of the air. People need to not only play them, but to also queue into dungeons as them. As it stands, a large majority of the player base either does not wish to play them, or do play them but do not wish to go through the dungeons as a role like tank. This causes an imbalance of tank/healer to DD ratio. If there are only Two tanks, Two healers and 60 DD, there are going to be a lot of people (In this case DD) that are left out and forced to wait in line for another set of tank and healer.
So yes, "you are dps" is a very valid counter argument to your statement.
Also, side note but: As someone who has been in the queue very frequently since 2.1 as a DD, I can safely assume you are over exaggerating your statement or just flat out lying. Not once did I spend more than 6~8 minutes in a queue for roulette/specific/CT. More often than not the queue is shortened to less than 5 minutes if I choose the option to play with JEDF enabled. You have access to an auto-translate function, so that on top of just generally knowing what to do is far more than enough to get by in dungeons/CT.
Redesign the system to allow for more flexibility in party composition.
I don't know how feasible it'd be to start moving away from the trinity entirely (and I'm sure people are frothing at the mouth right now since I even suggested that, but...
At the very least something like a heal/enmity potency buff and possibly damage reduction to allow scaling from 1-2 heals/tanks in high-level dungeons...
It'd be nice if they create new dungeons that have more varied party set-ups like 1 Tank, 3/4 DPS, 1 Healer. If they designed new ones around those set-ups, they wouldn't have to re-balance the older ones.
They just need to fix the low-level duty roulette to hit more instances. It's ridiculous that 4 people L35+ are put into a L16 instance. Duty roulette filling priority should be based around the dungeons that people have specifically queued for. If there are no more queues for a specific dungeons have been and there is a tank/2dps/heal group left over, group those four into the highest level dungeon available for the lowest level player in the group. I really hope to see this come 2.2.
Party finder is another option, but it doesn't give the bonuses that the duty roulette provides, making it a non-attractive option. Make duty roulette work across all instances, and this problem will work itself out more.
Remember, if you're queueing alone, priority will go to the dps that queued with a tank/healer. If people are smart/have friends, you'd need to rely on tanks and healers solo queueing as well.
Even as a dps, I rarely get queue times longer than 20 minutes.
This is a problem that SE has to continue to improve. What seems to help me when I go as DPS is queue in multiple languages.
If you are lucky to be on during NA prime time when trying for CT maybe, but even with join in progress and all languages ticked, if I'm just outside of NA primetime, my que times as a DPS are in excess of 45+ minutes at best. Sometimes, I might get lucky and get in before the 30minute mark, but usually its not very often.
I don't see how "you are a dps" is an excuse, sure 20 minutes is acceptable but last night I waited 92 minutes for a CT... yes, 92 minutes... and you think this is perfectly fine?
WoW doesn't have this problem because unlike FFXIV, WoW multi-realm queuing puts every server together, not certain groups. DPS average wait time in WoW is 10-20 minutes, where as FFXIV you're looking at 40-80 minutes.
Doesn't matter if there's less DPS, it shouldn't take 90 minutes to get into a dungeon... this happened because they moved servers into different groups to ease the stress on duty finder, I know for a fact that queue times on Primal (Behemoth) are ridiculously long for DPS, most of my FC see queue times of 50-60+
Using your exaggerated number of minutes (90 in this case), it just goes to show how many DD there are compared to tanks and healers. The queue uses a first come, first serve mechanic, and the only way to 'cut in line' so to speak is to queue with a tank and/or healer. If it takes you Two minutes to get into queue, the roles in queue are proportionate to setups (1 tank, 1 healer, 2 DD). If it takes you '90 minutes' to get into a dungeon, that means that there are far greater amounts of DD waiting in this line for tanks and healers to show up in queue.
If this really doesn't click, you might want to assess your logical thinking skills.
I'm on Behemoth and I have no idea what you're talking about. I have never had an hour long solo queue.
