What should I be doing after Coil for the rest of the week?

I already maxed out all my jobs/crafts/gathering. Been that way since October. I find myself playing a few hours 1 day to do coil, and run CT a few times to cap mythology, clear extreme modes for the week but the rest of the week I have nothing left to do but log in for 30 min to do beastman dailies.

I noticed a lot of people on my FC have 50 in everything, so its not just me a lot of people maxed everything as well. I played this game pretty casually but it seems like I have not much to do.

2.1 just came out and it seems like the game is still in need of some new content. What else can you do in FFXIV once you finished coil and myth for the week?

-Treasure hunts

-leveling crafting and gathering.

-gather stuff to sell on the market

-Beast Tribe dailies

-roulette dailies.

-other ways to make gil in the game.

Well, if you're a legacy character, it's expected that you ran out of content fairly early, as you had a massive headstart.

If not... you seriously burned through everything, and there's no way any MMO can keep up with you.

Either way, all you can do is wait now. Find things in game you enjoy doing, or take a break.

Leveling isn't content, this is the only headstart legacy character had because even if you're legacy you had to redo every class quest (especially in order to get a relic) and the main storyline along with unlocking and accessing other dungeons, even dungeons you've done in 1.x (Aurum/Darkhold.)

I feel 2.1 was more of a "catch-up" patch then any real new content to feed eager non-casual players. Which is all well in good. CT was suppose to be in 2.0. Pharos/HM dungeons are eh I cap myth in CT usually because the piece I want doesn't like me that week. So, all the Legacy players I know just do beastman and ex primals and coil the first few days of the week then sit around and craft. It sucks yeah, but just going to have to wait patiently for 2.2.

I had all my battle jobs leveled from legacy and a couple crafts, took me a month or so to cap the rest of the crafts and gathering. But the game has been out so long now that any head start is pretty much void the rest of the servers are definitely caught up to legacy.

You're only counting combat classes. Leveling crafting/gathering 'is' content, as there's nothing after that, and there's a lot of them to go through.

Plus, either way, doing Coil, repeated CT runs, and all the EX modes (potentially repeatedly), as well as beastmen dailies, and other roulette's (if seals/tomes are needed) is quite a bit of content.

Fixed that for you. Most new mmos have limited content but I played 1 mmo for over 21,000 hrs. Some weeks pushing over 40hrs a week and never once ran out of things to do. So it is doable... SE HAS DONE IT BEFORE.

They could with extreme ease add content that would keep even the most hardcore busy for years.... Called mix the modern day elements with the old. Stop making everything a ultra casual gear give away. Add things that require a guild, things that take 3-4 hrs to complete, things that have no lockout.

No. ZephyrAM hit the nail on the head. There is no possible way in the world you can have all jobs/crafts/gatherers at 50 and expect anyone with a job, responsibilities, etcetera to believe you play the game "casually" and it's the game's fault for not having enough content. For people with enough legit free time to do that, then I'm jealous. Not spiteful, just jealous. But don't sit here and say the game is crap or outdated because of xyz because you have free time times infinity.

Unless I miss the content that DoH/DoL takes part in like Hamlet Defense in 1.x then yeah, leveling is content. Otherwise, having things leveled through Legacy was the only headstart you got. You didn't come into ARR with every bit of content cleared because you were forced to reacquire the content or to access new content.

Leveling is never considered content or there's something seriously wrong with your game if instead of doing unique dungeons or encounters, you're spamming old dungeons to level up. By the way, you can go from 10-45 on multiple jobs within hours in 1.x through powerleveling, this is how many, many people had almost everything at 50 that came over, even crafting was faster because Leves provided raw materials and rewarded sometimes hard to get material due to how gathering worked. Yoshida himself said the game starts at 50 which as we know is end-game, yet it's filled with artificial barriers to prolong it, this is how you "run out."

By the way, August 2013 - Jan 2014, no one can really say anyone has rushed or "still should have tons of content", that's quite a bit of time without multiple major updates for someone to be "done" by now, even if new.

Do what I did , I unsubscribed , this is my last month I think . I might do 1 more month since I still have some of the EX primals to beat but it depends on how I feel I guess.

2.2 Might get me back IF there are no other MMO's out before then like Arche Age or WildStar . I guess its been a great ride but every MMO I've played to date has eventually ended .

@Zumi, you get your pvp gear yet? Maybe some pvp materia on standby? Just a thought.

What I'm saying is there is plenty to do. Compare xyz to abc if you want, it doesn't take away from the fact that there is plenty to do for someone who only has a few hours a day to play. This has nothing to do with if the game is the best game ever designed.

the only advice i could give you is make friends. i know you have friends but make low lvl friends talk to people socialize.

i don't know how your server is but there is plenty of people to talk to on mine and hang out with. doing dungeons is fun when you do it with friends i did brayflox like 4 plus times today lvling my white mage (i understand you are maxed in all but that doesn't stop you from joining them and having fun) and we had loads of fun full premade party and we would have a great time like what normally bothers a tank is less bothersome when you are laughing and having fun aka i kept using fluid aura to shoot the monsters away from the melee dps which was pretty funny making them chase it.

sorry if this comes off as rude or offensive at times. i know alot of people are pretty anti-social but just a few fun people can make this game really worth logging in for.

What's it like to be awesome and be able to play 15 hours a day? I've put in hundreds of hours of time and i still have 6 classes to max and gear lol.... you are definately in the minority on this one.

Get all your Luminary items if you need a carrot on a stick.

Otherwise help other people out; I get a kick out of that.

The player perception that "leveling is not content" is why leveling is non-content. Businesses do things to please their customers.

I am actually pretty sad how modern MMOs neglect the middle game. Once the initial launch rush of middle game content is expended, they rarely add new stuff that isn't endgame-related.

I play since day 1 and my free time allowed me to clear the game only to good moggle king. I haven't beaten T5, nor any EM primals, not even ultima HM. This argument is totally irrelevant, everyone go at their own speed through the content.

I'm amazed at how many people complain that the lockouts in this game are just outrageous, unbelievable new age barriers... and how earlier games didn't have this. Really!? I waited 2.3 years (that's 28 MONTHS) for my Summoner's Doublet in Dynamis in FFXI and I'm still waiting, because it only dropped one time and didn't go to me. 28 months from now if you were to deal with Coil lockouts, your entire static, and you, would probably have their main class full of Allagan and a shitton more Allagan from leftovers from other classes. Just because you can do a content over and over in the same day doesn't mean it's better. The Aurum Vale and Cutter's Cry were so much better in 1.0 for Darklight back then than Coil today, right? Please...

if you play any mmo for 8 hours a day you are going to run out of content, so I don't understand why you are even complaining. what did you expect to happen?

The game was released in 2010. There has been plenty of time to level everything up to 50.

I've been playing Minecraft and Sins of a Solar Empire.

Not sure FF XIV has enough staying power for me. People talk about content. I'm not sure where I fall on this.

On the one hand, there are lots of jobs to level up. On the other hand, once you've leveled up one job, you've seen all the 'vistas'. So I'm not sure if leveling up other jobs counts, to me, as content. Then there is crafting/gathering. Somewhat different. Maybe a better argument that it is 'more' content.

With new games coming out I think FF may have a hard time.

I personally am looking forward to EQL and Archeage.

They did the content back then and when they made them start all over again, they let them keep their level and equipment.
