Severe Connection Issues from January 14th onward.

Hello!

Currently many UK players are experiencing lag since January 14th. This ranges from mildly irritating delay to "rubber-banding" that makes all but most of the content impossible. The common factor amongst most of those I've seen appears to be our choice of ISP (Sky), however, I've been talking to Sky throughout the day and they cannot identify any problems with their service.

For those of you who are encountering issues, can we please post in this thread to try and keep it relevant until we receive some actual information regarding the matter? For those of you who aren't experiencing this problem, I ask for your support in keeping this thread visible for the same reasons.

I'll be constantly badgering on the forums, twitter and in game until we receive a response regarding this issue.

Many users have suggested using PingZapper or WTFast as a way to bypass this problem and reported success. However, I am reluctant to pay for another service to enjoy the game given it shouldn't be needed and actually wasn't until the 14th. It's worth noting that it's an option for people who really can't find another way. I would like some sort of official word that this is being looked into, or at the very least acknowledged. The growing sense of dread that no one knows anything about it doesn't make me feel optimistic regarding a fix.

I don't see any other UK player confirm this, do you have any other specific post/thread referencing this issue afflicting UK players?

I'm a Sky customer from the UK and I've been having the same problem as you since Monday. Today I downloaded WTFast as a temporary get around. It's unfortunate that I have to do this, but it seems to have done the trick. You get a months free trial; hopefully it will have been sorted by time that runs out!

Statement: Most of this one's Coil static is in the UK, we killed Twintania on the 15th with little issue.

Conjecture: Perhaps check with your ISP to check your bandwidth usage or ensure that you aren't capping with streaming, BitTorrent, etc.

I had this issue with BT straight after early access ended. It persisted for some weeks.

Thanks to those that replied thus far. Every other aspect of my connection is working fine. And I have posted in other threads regarding this issue, its the lack of acknowledgement from any party that's the issue. General discussion seems to have more traffic than technical support!

Just to add more data incase any mod or something looks at this thread. Tonight the lag was AWFUL everyone in my fc would have these lag spikes and everyone would lag at the exact same time. We're all from different states and we're all on different ISP and even with wtfast up it was still awful.
Been having this issue since the 2.1 update. I'm in the US, Time Warner, and 100megs down. No issues on anything else but FF14. From everyone in my fc (and random people we pug'd with) lagging at the same time, I think it's safe to say it's on SE's part.

I've not had lag but keep getting dc since yesterday. Error 9k.

Balmung yesterday was the worst experience I've had in ffxiv as far as errors, disconnection and "lag" go. I would engage mob or begin synth and get the dreaded 90000 error resulting in me being booted to the character selection screen. I'd receive 3102 error saying I was still logged in and to wait a few moments before trying again or to contact support if the problem persists. After multiple attempts to log back in I'd receive the 2002 error and have the game crash. Upon restarting the game I was good to play..for the next few minutes >< I am not exaggerating sometimes I could play for 2 minutes other times a half an hour, but I always crashed despite the area I was in. I moved around completing various quests and was levelling botanist so it wasn't specific to one zone or to only highly populated areas. The past 3 days have been hella laggy :(

Yeah that's the problem I been having but minus the lag. Checked online though and apparently Virgin Media have been having issues with phone and internet in my area.

UK player here with SKY getting it in instances such as Titan HM. 10 second freezes then it speeds up back to normal.

There have been many UK players with this problem. I remember reading a thread a few days ago that had at least 30+ different people with Sky that had it start all of a sudden. We have a particular person in our FC that has it too. The game is mostly unplayable for him it's so bad. I don't know if it's SE's problem persay...but it'd be nice they communicated with this provider to let me know there is an issue, if it isn't on their end.

lol for once Karoo's (KCom) are doing well, no lag for me and I'm a UK player :)

I saw DC appear above my character head . Im like wtf then BAM lights out 9k error . Hell I was tanking ultima with no problems and almost winning , my connection is fine . I log back in , instant 9k error . BULLSHIT !!!!

Still no improvement for me. It's getting pretty tiring to know things don't have a fix on the horizon. My only go to solution thus far is to play at my friends on my laptop :(

Add me to list. Sky fibre. Lag spikes since Tuesday. Freezes for awhile then catches up. Unplayable. This connection problem is only within game too.

Uk, sky customer, had it since 14th (with previously no lag or 90k issues from beta onwards) and only FFXIV affected.

Off for a weeks holiday as well and was planning hammering endgame content but this is unplayable :(

MY ISP, Virgin Media (cable) isn't having problems. can people who have problems with Sky please post a tracert so we can identify any bad hops. Different ISPs will route the data with different people, perhaps we can find the issue and Sky can solve it.

I've been having problems too, I'm kinda glad it's not just me. Most content is fine but having everything stand still for 5-6 seconds while doing Garuda or Titan EX makes it unplayable.

I was also getting latency/lag during Titan HM a few days ago. Kinda the reason i haven't played since. The first fight we did was fine, but as it got later and hit primetime it got to the point Titan would even just disappear Or just stand in one place while still doing his normal mechanics. Or when he'd jump in the air, we'd all huddle up in one spot like we normally do and then i'd see everyone take damage but Titan wouldn't be there lol. It was kinda funny but sucked @ the same time. And i'm not with any of the listed companies. I'm with Charter communications. But the bad lag started after 2.1 as well for me. SE just will never get this latency/Lag resolved it seems. 4 months+ since launch and it's only got worse for me.

More unexpected dc's have been occuring since that main!

Is there a certain time of the day this is happening? I know Virgin bottle neck their customers at peak time, does Sky do this aswell?

Well, I have been experiencing it too over the last few days (Australia)

So you are not alone, I do notice it primarily in peak times. The rubber banding or slight 'catch up' is dangerous in Titan X ... but I have managed to deal with it thus far... I would love to see it leave though ^^;;;;

I can only comment as a cable customer here. For cable customers you are only traffic shaped if you go over a certain amount during peak time; I think it's a gigabyte or more depending on your package. If you are just playing an MMO you wont go over the cap so wont be traffic shaped.

Apart from that, same situation here, hasn't seen any improvements.

Still happening to me, things such as Titan HM are literally unplayable. Sky customer in the UK.
