Yay another person using the forums to vent about issues that everyone who has done the fight already know exist. Rather than make a new thread why not do a quick search and rant in any of the 100 other thread about the exact same issue.
So it is PS3 problem or internet problem ?
I don't think i've ever been hit by an attack i wasn't actually hit by. At least not with Titan.
it's unfortunate how some people have this issue, but seriously, if you're having latency issues this bad, if it wasn't one thing it'd just be another.
And uh, im on PS3. I've never been AoE'd by something i couldn't see.
I hate this kind of bullshit. People have been saying this for years, yet when people actually listen to what you're saying and post on other threads, they get bitched at for necroing by the same types of people. Bunch of bitches. xD Guy makes new thread, you say "Stop making new threads!" yet someone posts in old thread, you say "Make new thread, stop necroing bitch!".
That aside, there isn't much you can do. A lot of people with this issue swear by VPN's, but I'm not sure if VPN's even work on PS3. Not to mention they aren't working for everyone.
It might be a PS3 problem. My static does Titan EX several times a week with success, and we all play PC, but almost all of us have graphics cards that otherwise play the game fine but struggle on certain effects. Seven stacked WOTLs are a bit much on weaker GPUs, so my group turns down there settings just for this fight. That is something PS3 users cannot do, and I feel for you.
PS3 running a stock harddrive may have problems loading in the custom AoE indicators (Primals/Acheron) at times due to its limited ram requiring it to stream them in on the fly off a slow drive. It can result in a delay of the AoE showing on time, causing possible death.
There's also the network latency issue is prevalent across both platforms depending on location/ISP though, so the most PS3 users can do is keep Titan on focus target and watch for his cast bar, since that's a more reliable indicator of when something is happening/about to go off, than the AoE on the ground that may have been a split-second late appearing.
If people didn't need to stack for weight of the land due to the tiny platform post-heart with Titan-Egi pits hogging precious space, it'd be a much more manageable fight with unfavorable connection conditions.
explain to your party upfront and they might atleast let you sit at the back of the stack and dodge south instead of west, so if youre not the wotl target youll start off already halfway out of plumes and you can safely pre-dodge without killing people
I have latency issues with this fight as well, I play on a crappy laptop. To avoid the plumes I just start moving 1 second before they actually appear and it works pretty well.
I don't see it as a PS3 problem. My boyfriend and I play on the same network and he has no issue dodging anything in the fight (I play on PC and he plays on PS3). What is more likely the issue is...
1) Your ISP down/up speed is too low. When I first tried Titan hard, I was getting hit by everything, landslide included. I upgraded to the next level and have had zero issues dodging ever since -- extreme modes included. Granted, I have played many MMOs and never had ANY issue with latency or a need to upgrade my ISP package until this game... so that is a little weird. I'm fairly close to the NA datacenter to boot. (I'm in NY and Montreal is about a 8-10 hour drive away.)
2) Your ISP is not choosing the most optimal 'route' to get to the datacenter, thus increasing your ping more than it should. People use all sorts of programs to 'force' themselves to choose the fastest, most reliable route. I'm not sure if this is an option for the PS3.
3) You are experiencing graphical lag and just not seeing stuff in time to realistically avoid it. I would suggest lowering some of your settings on your PS3, especially if it is a bit old. My boyfriend had to lower some settings (remove party effects) to be able to see AoEs reliably. Keep in mind that the PS3 is a very old system. If FFXIV does not run well on it, it is because the hardware can't handle it... not because the game wasn't made well. The graphics quality of FFXIV on PC is much, much smoother than PS3.
4) The servers, in general, are notoriously laggy right now. People who are pro dodgers for an hour of progression will suddenly die to every plume and get hit by most landslides. I believe them when they say they are lagging because I witnessed them dodge like pros for a long time and then suddenly they can't? Not a player issue unless they are just getting tired... but I've been in runs where everyone dodges like pros and then 2-3 people start getting hit by EVERYTHING. One lag spike can and does kill you in this fight... and one death or landslide can mean the difference between victory and defeat.
