Determination consumes more itemization equivalence than any of the other secondary stats. If you look at any two items of equal level, one of which has determination and the other which has none, the one with determination will end up with lower explicit stats. In effect, determination is valued at roughly 50% higher cost, by the devs, than the other secondary stats, so it will only show up in roughly 2/3rds the amount of the others.
Determination has diferent weight than other secondary stats.
So that makes determination 33% better than Parry and Crit as a stat? I've always considered parry/accuracy/str/vit waaay better than determination. But then again strength and vitality are main stats and those are equal across the board for the three items
det affects the range of the amount of healing you receive and damage you deal, so, obviously, it has higher priority, imo. ( not sure if it does contribute mitigation bonus tho. )
determn only effects outgoing actions (eg: outgoing heals, outgoing attacks), and its value is calculated differently than other Core Stat.
That makes more sense to me even though I don't understand the math behind it. Accuracy has some kind of mathematical basis to cap at 100%. Determination can continue on adding damage/healing the more you have.
I probably never should have posted this but thank you all for explaining. When I saw 34 stats across the board except the 24 for warrior i freaked out a little lol :/
These numbers are for DRGs, but as far as I'm aware, all melee damage is calculated the same, so these should be pretty close for tank as well. I would maybe weight Skill Speed a little higher for WARs, because more skill speed is more Inner Beasts, but its not huge.
Doesn't determination also increase auto attack damage?
@Paikis: so ASSUMING that the weight for all melee classes are the same (which I'm pretty sure they are not but don't quote me on that) then having 24 Det would be the equivalent of having roughly 16 more str? Its basically makes the War pants 45 str.
Edit: Paikis is right, it would be roughly 8 str making the pants effectively 37 str. I don't math very well lol.
This. I seriously have to wonder why people seem to think that Determination is or ever *was* a stat that increased healing received. Even if the description is misleading, increasing healing received but not outgoing would make it basically worthless for healers, who have it on a *huge* amount of their gear. You'd also have to ask yourself why, if it increases both outgoing magic and physical damage, it arbitrarily leaves out outgoing healing?
It's gotten to the point where, when someone says that Determination increases healing received, I have to wonder if they're capable of even basic critical thought because it just doesn't make any sense.
It doesn't make the stat better. Just means 1 point of determination has more effect than 1 point of parry or crit. Just the way their algorithms are set.
BAD EXAMPLE - You buy concentrated diluting juice and double strength concentrated juice. You use less of the double strength because, well it's double strength. Does this make it taste any better? No. You just need less of it to make a drink.
