Proposed Idea: 5min lockout for CT DF withdraw abusers

Given that my DF queue for CT has been cancelled for the 20th time in a row and still counting it has given me plenty of time to write this.

Reasons for withdraws:
Trying to match up with premade groups
Trying to join in progress

Proposed fixes:
Allow multiparty queues
Add a 5 minute lock-out if you withdraw from the DF

I'm sure the multiparty queuing will be happening in the future but it can never come soon enough. As for those that continually try to exploit the "join in progress" feature I think a 5 minute lock-out from re-queuing for any one that withdraws from CTs DF specifically would help cut down on the griefers. The insane abuse of these feature needs to stop and this would help lessen exactly that.

I have gone through the same process at least 4-5 times in the past day or so running CT, so I sympathize. Allowing multiparty queues wouldn't be a bad idea. However, a 5min lockout would be too harsh. Just a 1min lockout would be enough to curtail such spamming. I usually get at least 3-4 queues to pop in 30sec-1min on average so that would probably be the most logical amount of time to lock someone out.

Make the lockout timer incremental while we're at it. 3 free withdraws, then an increasing 5 minute timer (5, 10, 15, etc.) for each subsequent withdraw.

Or better yet, just give them their own queue and stop lumping them with people who want to or don't mind doing full runs.

As it's been mentioned, the solution should never be to punish players who want an in-progress party. There should be a separate queue. This is the better solution.

Players can have a multitude of reasons for exclusively joining in-progress, including desiring CT loot near the end of that dungeon. Again, the more appropriate solution in this instance is to delay all loot until the very end; Acheron should reward 4 pieces, instead of having each mini-boss reward 1.

As it is though, in lieu of an immediate fix, having to sit through withdrawn queues is the price that less-desired jobs will simply have to pay. If you want to be able to pick and choose among duty results, then you should play as a tank.

People need to complain less about the frustrations of long queues and supposed "abuse" of withdrawals, and start playing as tanks (and healers, to a lesser extent).

I have never had this issue personally.

How is 5 minutes too long?

If something comes up irl that makes you need to withdraw from queue, 5 minutes shouldn't be a problem. If you are withdrawing just to try and get an in progress you deserve a 5 minute wait.

I see two options to fix this, and I think the second option would be 'easier' to implement.

1. I don't think the first withdraw should be penalized, as sometimes people queue and then realize... "Oh wait, I forgot to do something I need to do *withdraw*." I would reserve the 'punishment' for people who withdraw 3 or more times within a set period. Five minutes seems like a good penalty, perhaps increasing to ten for repeat abusers.
2. There should be an option to 'only' join parties in progress. That way, those of us willing to do a full run don't have to deal with this constant queue dodging.

Putting it near the end would stop those who dropout after the boss that drops the gear they want, which people also think is a problem. With less dropouts, there's less open spots for those people withdrawing from queue, which would make queues more congested.

I agree making a separate queue for people who only want in progress would be optimal.

Proposed idea: Instead of banning or punishing people, how about we fix the root cause of the problem: People who check join in progress should not get matched with brand new parties.

No, it won't fix this issue. Instead it will make people not use join in progress and then people who lose members mid run won't be able to replace them. Why decieve players, when you can simply make it so that people who join in progress only get into actual in progress runs? It's safe to say that if you check that box, you DON'T WANT a brand new party.

remove join in progress option, what party a player gets will be randomized. A player can be allocated to in progress runs or fresh runs randomly.

That's even more stupid. What if you don't want to join an in progress run? People shouldn't be forced to.

This is a simple problem with a simple solution that can please everyone.
