Can we please get some kind of Temp Blacklist for Crystal Tower???

As the Title says can we please get some way to temporarily Blacklist Players in Crystal Tower? Just had the worst experience in CT, A whole party of players kept spamming sound effects almost the entire run. Even with mute on it is very annoying when you can't read party or alliance chat. Not even just them I have been to other runs where someone spams a sound effect or players will use some excessive profanity.

Yes I could just leave but I would have to eat a 30min timer and then wait 30-45mins to get back in.

Is there an alliance chat filter? If not maybe there should be one, Then that would be a "Hotfix".

Sorry but think about it for a sec... if you had black lists all over the place, can you imagine the queue times?

trying to match person A with person B and C and D with all the black listing going on in between, it'll start cross-matching with everyone elses black lists and cause a huge disturbance in the already waning queue times.

System Configuration > Sound Settings > Sound Effects, there you can turn them off.

1. You can queue and party with players on your Blacklist cause It's happened to me with someone on my Blist.
2. I said Temp Blacklist so it wouldn't be permanent.

It gets in the way of seeing what other players have to say. Its such a bother when you have to tell new players what to do and they can't even see the chat log.

You probably should be able to black list inside CT if people are spamming like that. Let's keep in mind the OP means black list as in the game's mute functionality I think, obviously a proper black list is too high complexity.

You should also report them, don't we have a report player UI for dungeons? I personally haven't been able to find it.

Had a tank using a silence macro w/sound effect in Garuda EX the other night. Pretty fuggin' annoying. Especially seeing as there's no silence rotation in Garuda EX.

Oh I queued into CT with the same players before probably. Some guy just kept singing Digi-mon songs while the other spam sound effects. Then they pulled as soon as they reached the boss and lock players out. Think they queued in together so they couldn't get kicked.

I've experienced the same thing as the OP with the nonstop sound or silencing macros and its an absolute headache. Oddly, there is so much griefing and/or trolling in CT. From party finder groups purposely being "bad" to the above mentioned chat log spam. I desperately hope it gets fixed before future duty finder raids because it makes one of the more fun aspects of the game so dismal.

It's just another Arkista thread, move along, nothing to see here. I'm just surprised there was no mention of "XI had it so if you were on a blacklist you couldn't even get party invites from the person!"

When this happens I find it pretty hilarious actually. People need to lighten up a bit. It helps ease the pain of repetition.

There is a clever line between humorous and being outright obnoxious. Surely they could have found some other way to "ease up the tension."

Perhaps a chat block would be better then a blacklist? so you just block them from chat - but then again I can see how this would probably get out of hand.

Personally I don't use silence but saw Bards use them to announce they just used it, and it's really helpful for rotations to tell the other bards / roles to get ready to use theirs.

If you don't like sounds you can turn them off, if the players spams them in chat just report them for spamming, it has no differance spamming <se.1> x9999 or spamming "I love to eat chocobos" x9999. Both can be reported for harasments and spam.

Yeah but a silence rotation is only needed in a few places. Really your macro sounds effects should be turned off if you're not in one of those situations. Even then, after getting used to the fights (e.g. T1/2) there's just about no need to announce it at all. Beyond that it keeps everyone more sane if you don't have the notification macro attached to the ability itself, have it on a separate button so you don't spam people with the sound when you're spamming for your CD.

Was like people who macro'd Provoke in FFXI with a damn <call1> or something. We didn't need to know they were provoking every 30 seconds, and we sure as hell didn't need a shrill noise on top of that to reinforce it.

Funny I should notice this thread after the CT run I had earlier. Some self-appointed "mother" of the raid took it upon herself to spam the raid chat with lines and lines of drivel announcing Iron Giants, "Hide Now!" etc. Pointed out it was patronising to her fellow players but she continued to do so. Fortunately she's on my server so I can blacklist her future moronic spam.

Because everyone is born knowing the mechanics and in any case no new players are doing the content for the first time.

I bet you're the first to /kick someone when you discover they've never done your precious content before.

On the contrary, I'm usually the first to explain a new instance to people, the pulls, boss abilities etc. I have 75 or so Commendations earned on DD which is pretty much a testament to this.

I do object, however, to massive raid spam of 6-7 lines in block capitals twinned with an alert noise for each one to tell people to do something that was already explained at the beginning of the fight. Prime example, tank went down on KB and I typed in Alliance the name of the guy who had picked KB up and asked healers to direct their focus to him. That message was lost instantly with, "BAD THINGS INCOMING!!!" <se.1>" x6 lines followed by, "IRON GIANT!!! <se.1>"

This is an online game. You're not the only one playing. Not everything that's going to be typed by someone may be relevant for you. But can be relevant for someone else. That said, it doesn't justify spamming, but on that case, be it sound effect or anything else, it can and should be reported and delt with.

I also have a macro with sound effect for Hydra's fear ability, and while certain few did say it was annoying, much many more thanked me for it. So if it helps even one person - I'm going to use it. Feel free to blacklist me lol

Just because you know the fights don't mean you can't space out for a split second and not realize something critical is going on... And while I don't spam it, in CT for instance during Thanatos if our alliance's Magic pot is under attack (as in actually being attacked, not just the Sandman hovering towards it) I use a macro that just says "/p Magic Pot is under attack!<se.9>" I've actually been thanked for this type of thing before, and heard it called "useful"

This thread is about people using excessive spam. Warnings are really helpful, but what if 3 people have them and refuse to turn them off? It sort of makes sense to have a /ignore type feature.

This would be funny for 5 seconds, maybe. Not for a whole entire effing run. In CT, communication is paramount and this completely ruins it.

I'm sure glad we can't /tell in dungeons. Really protected us against spam and harassement. /sarcasm.

If there is someone taking it upon themselves to lead the alliance and telling players what's going on then that's fine to an extent. As for what I experienced if someone wanted to lead the alliance it was damn near impossible with the <se.1>..... Spams from 4 players.

It wasn't even the sound that was the issue, I know how to use mute. It was the fact that 4 players spamming idk 15-20 <se.1> on a macro made it hard as hell to communicate with a few new players in my party.

Don't get me wrong sound effects do help where silence rotations are needed or other things like you said Fear Itself.

I did party with this one guy who came up with this pretty cool sound effect "Song" but he didn't spam the hell outta it.

To answer your edit, yes, you can filter alliance chat in your log, but it's an all or nothing thing.

run enough CT's with people who dont know what the hell they are doing and you will learn to appreciate the people that take the time to make macro's with sound effects for things like behemoths meteor.. id rather have some annoying sound effect and spam then wipe repeatedly because because people cant pay attention without someone holding their hand and telling them exactly what to do and expect at every given moment

Ah fair enough, I read that wrong xD

CT honestly feels like WoW's LFR at this point - only with fewer options for me to make the experience non-horrible. I can't ignore people who are being abusive. I can't kick them if they're not in my Alliance. And they can wipe my group repeatedly - and my only option is to leave.

Yeah, this is why I haven't queued in two weeks. >.<

There is a setting to remove Alliance activity in your general chat window on the rare occasion the trolling is that bad. Everything you need to know will be said within your party chat.

I partied with someone that figured out how to make the iconic music that plays in FF games when you win a battle out of those macro sounds. It was so early in the release of the game I don't remember the order of the sounds, but I really wish I did. I tried looking for a video proving it for a few minutes but gave up :(

In regards to OP, I can imagine that was horribly annoying. I'm too busy getting DF trolled 47 times before finding 24 ppl that actually stick to the instance to worry about such trivial matters like communication. :p

IDK what's going on with CT players, I went today and some party of trolls kept trying to ruin the entire run. Bone dragon 2 tanks I assumed took hate off each other so they could kite it around, Atomos they would get off the platform, Thanatos they kept trying to bring him to the pots, Vassago they went into the lava, KB they tried to tank him but someone else managed to keep hate but then they took Iron Giants to each tower.... I left and I would say about 9 others did before me. I believe they got reported.

While this is a quick fix its not a perma fix. I've been a lot of CT runs where one person take leadership in Alliance Chat, while the party mostly stays silent. Very few runs I've been to where the party communicates to new players.
