Gil Farming, RMT, and Housing - How Can We Feel Safe?

Our FC is saving for a large house. We're 15 very active members with multiple, if not all, crafts/gatherers at 50. We work hard for our gil & have saved a decent amount so far. That said, we aren't close to our goal (yet) so we're looking into selling primal extreme wins/loot to reach our goal faster.

Well, we know what it takes to make gil in the game's rough economy, so when we have buyers ready to buy multiple wins as well as loot, it is disconcerting to us.

Should we be turning down questionable sales (or really any large sale) out of fear the player bought their gil? What's the threshold here so we don't have to play in fear that our house that we worked hard for will be "seized"?

Given the bans & gil seizure back in Sept, along with SE saying they'd seize houses purchased via RMT, we deserve additional details so we can feel safe moving forward with our efforts to purchase a large house with such a small team, which will be significant undertaking to say the least.

I agree completely. I'm terrified we might invite some member to our FC who proceeds to donate gil to the FC. Normally we would be delighted by such a turn of events. Now Square has me concerned that the gil could potentially be tainted, and that it could result in us loosing the house we eventually purchase. If as a guild we save say 60 mil and one player comes in with only say 1 mil of tainted gil we will loose 59 mil of legitimately earned gil. We would be disproportionately punished for the misdeeds of a single member. This could cause us to be very very hesitant to invite new members since we haven't known them long enough to know for sure if they really earn that gil or not. This is extremely bad for building and growing communities.

Dungeons, dailies, guildleves, etc. any money that is just a shuffling of wealth, ie marketwards, preying on peoples desperation (selling runs), and other player to player gil will always be suspect. Not to sound rude but if you get your money through legitimate means, you should have no issues.

Housing was put in the game as a gil sink honestly I would just wait a few months until they lower the prices more.

Unfortunately if you follow this as a means to make gil, you won't be able to buy a large plot for months possibly longer depending on your server. Their FC has 15 members like he stated, not 500+. That method may work for an FC that has a lot of members and is collecting dues but not for a small group.

Hey yeah. It will just take us 579 years of 24hour playing to get enough gil to buy a house!

A few months back those with large amounts of money gained solely through the AH had money taken from them by SE because it was distantly related to RMT activity. They did that despite those users being unaware of where that gil came from. All they did was put something on the AH and sell it. So we have very good reason to think there could be problems going forward.

It's as if you didn't read the OP at all. You didn't remotely acknowledge the problem he discussed. It had nothing to do with generating the gil, and had everything to do with fear SE would take action against your house solely on the poor actions of 1 guild member.

That's not exactly feasible. We're under 20 active players in our Free Company, and those direct sources of gil are barely enough to make ends meet between things like equipment repair costs, teleports, food, and the like. That's not the kind of gil influx that would allow us to even readily afford a small house, let alone a big one.

Are you seriously saying don't sell items on the market? That's the biggest "legit" way to earn any money. It's a feature put in the game by SE and they want us to use it. We shouldn't be punished if someone uses RMT then goes to buy our things from the board. This is insane.

My FC of four people have been able to collect 800k each since 2.1 first came out. It is not difficult to use in game fountains for Gil, no matter how much people like to QQ about it. Also, selling runs is perfectly legitimate I don't even know why people are still QQing about that.

To OP, sorry but there isn't anything you can do about it. It's no different than how counterfeit money can be taken away from you without reimbursement. Your only option is just to go through with your plans and hope that you don't get shafted by other dishonest people. That's basically how we're forced to live our day to day lives.

We're not concerned about people within our company being personally involved in wrong doing, but we all use the market board to sell things that we craft or gather and we've sold a few primal runs. What our concern is is that we can't possibly know how that gil was acquired. Is that something we could potentially be penalized and have our house confiscated for? Or will actions be targeted against actual wrong doers instead of the accidental and unwitting beneficiaries.

It would be a pretty huge disappointment if all of us worked hard to earn gil in a variety of ways for a large house to enjoy only to find ourselves being penalized for another's illicit activities.

A large house of 150m would only take you a little under 4 years at that rate.

Just throwin a random like. Couldn't care less about housing because its entirely useless but these guys are from a linkshell im in so yeah <3

Otherwise, I think SE gonna "scan" how you re earnin money. Not how people that gave you actually acquired some.

All I hear is that crafting and selling items is illegitimate.

That aside, SE can't go seizing houses considering that everything you sell on the marketboard has the potential to be bought with "shaddy" gil. This would result in every single house being seized and alot of ppl unsubscribing to the game and possible games in SE's future. It would be terrible for business.
