Slow and Fast Chocobos?

I have what appears to be a very friendly but quite slow Chocobo.

What I mean is, I've noticed, running with a mounted FATE pack... just about everyone else can open the distance between me and my bird, and themselves, following the same path. Especially the smaller folks. Lalafel ZOOOOM!

Is this just poor perception or does bird speed really scale with, say, rider weight? (I'm a Hyur Highlander in heavy plate armor). Or bird training?

Time trials, anyone? :)

All the personal mounts go at the same speed. The only mount that goes a bit slower is the rented chocobo.

What you are seeing is server latency. All mounts run at same speed.

You should work out some more to lose some weight.

Maybe a combined training regiment with your chocobo will help.

You may wish to try lowering your graphical settings. Your movement speed is affected by your framerate: If this drops from something like, say, a humongous crowd of people moving around, your movement speed lowers as well.

I have the feeling that if you are having frame rate issues when the server checks with your computer to see where you are (every .3s) it might find you don't think you're as far as the server would have placed you. Then the server *might* correct this making it so you're moving at a slower speed.

rented chocobo has the better music !!

OP this is caused by low framerate. When I play on my laptop my framerate sometimes drops and when it gets particularly low my movement speed slows to a crawl, even with auto-run on.

Things like this SHOULD be server-side (as they are with most MMOs) to ensure that movement speed is a static value but instead here if your computer can't process fast enough to keep up then it gets slow in calculating your position too... and the server doesn't think it's strange in the slightest that your character is moving at a speed outside any of the defined norms (hence why we have so many movement/teleporting hacks).

Isnt there a fat chocobo summon in a ff game? cant remember wich one tho :P
