Zenith [Weapon Upgrade Suggestion]

Just came up with an idea on putting our Primal Weapons to use after we've already gotten Zenith/Allagan/Extreme Weapon. Since Zenith is suppose to be our Relic weapon, maybe we can further upgrade them with earlier Primal Weapons so it’ll be equivalent to Allagan/Extreme Weapon or better.

From a MNK's perspective:

-Zenith 1.0-

This can be done by bringing the four current Primal Weapons to Gerolt who would then upgrade our Zenith to Zenith + by merging them together.

The next upgrade from Gerolt will required the following weapon: Zenith +, the Allagan Weapon, and Extreme Primal Weapon. This upgrade will then give us the new Item Level 96-100 weapon.

Not sure the cap for that weapon should be since there’s more Primal battles coming. What do you guys think?

Definitely a cool idea. Only "problem" (not really, just using the term loosely, and some people might see this as an upside) I can identify is that it promotes people to stick even more with a single job since this form of extending the relic quest would draw the process out even longer. Just getting those lower-level Primal weapons can take forever thanks to the RNG. It's probably easier to a certain degree to get the Allagan weapon and the EX Primal weapon if you have a good static/FC.

Please don't force us to farm some boring fights to get more power... Sure, better weapons should be rewarding and not given to anyone (Primal axe anyone ? Or any T5 weapon ofc), but hell, I won't ever farm titan and the horrible lattency dance game over and over again to get all his weapons, even for the sake of a better relic.

Above that, a little upgrade to the relics to get them up-to-date with any major increase in ilevel and so giving a little (if any) variety in end-game gear is definitively something to look into

Don't play an mmo and cry about repetition

Yes RNG could be a problem and farming would take forever but I can see Zenith 1.0 as an alternative for those who can't get either those Allagan/Extreme Weapons.

It's not about repetition but forcing to play.

I like the current end-game (exit EM primals, I haven't tried them yet). I don't mind being forced to try 40 times before mastering a fight. I don't mind being blocked by some content because I don't have the skill/gear/whatever to do them.

I just don't like being forced to do a precise content over and over again, brainlessly. I want to be able to chose what to do, when I want it.

That being said, the 2.0 upgrade is really interesting in the concept. You'll do T5 anyway prety each week if you can down it so the weapon farm isn't bothering me, and the EX primals, you can decide to do them whenever you want, and you get the loot you WANT, not some RNG costing you some weeks in boring fights farm

your idea promotes hours grinding on a random generator and thats with 100% wins. just a waste of time.

even relics in FFXI had a point to them and the time you waited for a upgrade you didnt need to do anything. that game relics had a balance some, it had grind some actual drops(old currency & relic weapon from lv1), and you had to do content but not have to beat the boss.

How about just adding a new tier of weapons to loot in new content with new designs, instead of adding a 1 to an already existing design which is your reward for some incredibly tedious grinding.

Seriously I'm sure I'm not the only one that doesn't mind leaving the relic behind for some new, fresh looking gear.

Bring on the grinds... I'm really sick of all forms of progression being locked out.

@ the OP I think that a great idea. Relics need to hold more weight. There shouldn't be a weapon in the game better than a relic and they need to raise the difficulty to obtain and upgrade. Not nearly as hard as they were in 11 but its needs to be more difficult.

I don't like it.

The Relic is something that doesn't depend on drops, and it should remain so. I think it'd be a great idea to be able to put everything together and create that ultimate weapon, but that should not be your standard Relic for each version.

SE needs to increase the item level 80 relic stats to item level 85 cause they are very similar to the titan hm weapon drops now since patch 2.1. Some of the titan hm weapons are slightly better then the item level 80 relics which I don't agree with, if we have to go through all that trouble just to get a relic with similar stats then whats the point of getting the other relic weapons when we can farm titan hm and em primal versions for weapons that are similar.

Please just let relics die. This game doesn't need to get an easy-but-tedious weapon upgrade process like FFXI had that rewards you for how much monotony you're willing to endure rather than rewarding you for skill and teamwork. If the answer to that is, "it's an MMO it's supposed to be monotonous," then I think we're living in the past a bit too much.

Actually I think the concept of the Relic is implemented quite well. Just like the AF. (Although I'd prefer the AF chest to be available at 45.)

The AF and Relic are things that are representative of your class, and it makes sense to make them readily available to 100% of the playerbase. Those gear has special meaning that is specific to the Final Fantasy series.

And it is very sad if these special pieces of gear become outdated after only 3 months. So an upgrade path is great. The problem is how to implement the upgrade.
