I've touched ground on this and really wanted to bring this whole subject over the official forums. (Neither the thread or picture belong to me)

Really interesting and this is also the direction Id like to see the gear go in this game. Not all these boring stats.

100% agree. Stats are way too cookie cutter and boring at the moment. Needs more variety. I want there to be less "Oh..this is the absolute best item. No doubt" and more "Hmm...I can see how all of these can be useful..."

If warrior AF+1 had +20% IB Increase per piece I'd be all for it instead of the skill speed that some of them have.

Statement: Many gear sets from other games give set bonuses. There are some in FFXIV (GC armor) this one would like to see such a thing in i90 gear, especially Myth sets.

I would not mind this, would raise the value of some ilvl90s and give us more customisations.

Unique stats are ok until the gear level increases. Then you have the cool bonus you want, but the gear you have is obsolete. It's cleaner to keep the gear grind separate from customization.

Let people grind for standardized i90, i100 tank/dps/healer gear, and then let them select unique bonuses using some other system. That way people only have to regrind once per role when new gear is released, instead of grinding over and over for each unique bonus they want to keep up to date.

this is how gear was in 1.0 an one of the main things i miss about it

We already used to have stats like that during 1.x. The dev team decided to remove them all and go for the simplified stats instead.

Yoshi-P has stated in the past that he likes unique stats on gear but that the gear currently available would have regular stats in order to make balancing content easier. He said he was not opposed to adding gear with unique effects sometime down the line.

Yup. This is exactly what it was like in 1.x.

AF gear had stuff like reduced cooldowns and things like that.

Basically exactly what people want to see in a gear system, and they got rid of it.

It was not a problem in XI where lots of gear had many very unique stats. These pieces of gear were valuable for many levels after they were obtained. The difficulty of getting them more or less equalled their longevity.

Used to see Soboro Samurais at 75 (Soboro sukehiro was a 50 G.Katana that attacked 2-3 times. Great for buillding TP that could then be used on a Longbow Weaponskill).

Someone remember this and spam this question when the next liveletter arrives :) I want this as soon as possible. Atleast confirm that it's planned x-x Cause I've heard that they would add these stats in the future, but not when.

-2% dmg taken vs -10s sentinel? .....lol thats a unfair fight

As stated before this actually was in ver. 1.xx but was removed when 2.0 launched and is a feature i miss greatly as well.

This issue with comparing XI's take on this however is that with the exception of some weapons, gear-swaps made many pieces relevant mid battle to the tune that you could potentially be swapping in 10 pieces of equipment or so for a WS and in the case of mages/tanks possibly more depending on spells/abilities.

While it kept quite a lot of gear relevant some gear was left "BiS" for certain WS/Spells/Abilites for far longer than they should have been and i'm not sure people want to go back to mid battle blinking gear-swaps lol...

If you support this and don't want FFXI-2, you are a hyprocrite! I've been on the ffxi-2 train the whole time, and they should take this "FFXI" element and put it in the freaking game already! All the gear SUCKS RIGHT NOW! All we are getting are some stupid vanity system and CT loot taht doesn't even matter. Relics don't do poop, allagan weapon does nothing, primal weapon does nothing... give us some UNIQUE stats/abilities already SE... I am getting BOREDD

you can't gear swap mid battle. So what we're proposing is picking a set with the bonuses you like, entering a fight with that set
and then being stuck with those unique bonuses for the duration of the fight. This way you would need to wisely pick your
gear.

well they COULD easily add it cause you can already make the job switching macros with gear swaps, all theyd have to do is allow it to be able to change armor using the macros in battle. but again i guess it just to stressful to people.

Nope that comment was only about the comparison to XI's system nothing further, like i said i do like and miss the concept of unique stats on gear and would like to see them return.

you just made me think about that why cant we have gear swap the whole reason why people didnt like it in 11 was you disappeared, you dont do that in 14 so why cant we have it again?

The blinking issue was easily fixable, but the general player did not know how to do it.

Not bad idea but i would go hybrid between those last 2 in that picture, keep the current boring stats and add 1-2 materia slots. But instead tossing those boring stats in those materia slots it would be awesome to get those "-2% dmg taken" and "-10 recast on sentinel" as materias on those slots. Afterall in FF7 materias were your characters skills instead raw stats we have here now.

I try not to mix game mechanics and logic too often, but there just seems something blatantly wrong about changing my knickers while some demonic entity is wailing on me.

That said, I do like the idea of unique gear feeling unique (which is why I actually like it having no materia slots).
And though I still say such basic passives are almost as boring as the current stats, I wouldn't really be opposed to their inclusion... Would work best if they stopped all vertical progression and just focused on horizontal progression though, IMO, but I guess that's a pipe-dream...

It was one of the things they unknowingly did well on FF11. With the horizontally stats and ability stats for the gear. Yet now there on a vertical ladder with a pin hole on the jobs dps,healing,tanks on both games. They listen to the 1% of the people on the game forums and not looking at there server datas see what the what going on for the rest of the players. Then explain to the forums users why they did it and show the data of why they do it.

Also your character models looks like mine lol.

I would love to see gear swaps during battle for about 100 reasons I might go into one day. I do not, however, understand people who think it is unrealistic to change clothes, and weapons during battle. Even in the real life military, you do this quite frequently, not as big of a deal as you might imagine.
