If there's players like my self that stopped playing for the reasons such as:
latency, it made fights like Titan just totally annoying and not worth the stress of fighting through the latency, if I'm playing on EU servers then why are the "EU" servers across the pond? I don't enjoy having to get hit by something that I was a mile out of only to see my self die in a safe area and if it happens to team mates then I see them die whilst sliding towards a safe spot...
Then there's the horribly repetitive instances where the trash mobs have too much health, thus making the instance insanely long and tedious to want to do them, games are supposed to be fun to play...not made into an actual boring chore after barely 1-2 weeks of being end game whilst also having a time gated progression.
1 shot mechanic bosses that don't make the fight any more fun or hard, to me it just seemed like another tedious mechanic to attempt to make something hard with lag playing a big factor in it, also the boss fights being heavily scripted I personally don't find fun, I'd rather play a game where the boss works off of an actual AI scripting and not a series of events, so is there any new bosses coming into this patch or something that actually plays for it self and not a series of events? I'm sorry but event scripted AI just makes me feel like I'm re-watching the same movie over and over and over again.
I will also mention that with these 1 shot mechanics still in my mind...are you still stupidly vulnerable to being hit whilst in that insanely long res animation, the amount of lol worthy deaths I had whilst in res when you would be at some point where the boss would just randomly choose a player and AoE and the resing player just happened to be that target.
To finish of with...I didn't get that full darklight gear before my sub ran out, I had possibly half of it at the time, so if that's the case then would there be any point in me trying to do this new "content" or would I just be undergeared? if so then I can only assume to think that a good amount of people that could care to give SE their time with this free weekend will just have to stop playing again.
tl;dr: is that horrible latency still here?
Any new bosses that arn't fully event scripted as opposed to being AI scripted?
Are the current/new instances still full of over healthed and boring to kill trash mobs that take ages to kill?
Are boss monsters still heavily into 1 shot mechanics?
Is gear still time gated?
Are you still bound to that insanely long res animation while being vulnerable to damage?
If I try to play this weekend will I be undergeared with only half of that darklight gear?
So, a free weekend...even worth it to bother?

It seems you just don't like this kind of game, so obviously it isn't aimed at you. A lot of the issues you seem to have are ones that exist in almost every MMO, too.
The res animation was changed, but apart from that everything you stopped playing for is still there (except I play in EU and never have latency) and most of us actually enjoy it. I'd rather have 1-shot mechanics than random mechanics you can just take to the face and let a healer heal you. Being able to recover from everything makes it exceptionally boring. -

Also, you crying about the lag (which I rarely notice, if I do it's my end..and after 2.1 i can honest to god say that the game usually gives me slaps on the wrist when I was expecting death) and crying about 1-shot mechanics, it seems more like you're booty bothered about getting smacked by Titan. -

Most instances can be done in under a half hour and I can't even think of one that takes longer than an hour unless you're repeatedly wiping. Some instances like WP have been trivialized for months with ~10 minute speed runs. Short of making the mobs die when you sneeze at them, I can't really see how they could make most of the dungeons in this game much easier.Quote:

2)None that are particularly difficult. The treasure hunt enemies don't use abilities by a script but they also are quite easy.
3) Crystal tower and the new dungeons do not use 1-shot mechanics much. Extreme primals, once again Titan is the only serious offender.
4) Yes but the severity was reduced; Mythology tomestone cap was significantly increased so that gear gomes a lot faster; While CT can only earn you one item a week you'll likely be running it several times and you'll get a large amount of tomestones each time, so it's not so bad.
5)Yes, however you can no longer be damaged before you have control over your character: That is, there is an invulnerability period while getting up.
6) The highest level gear is unchanged except for allagan weapons which not many people have. Your gear won't be any more or less undergeared than it was before.
Anyway, it's free, so it can't hurt you to give it a spin.
Most dungeons take 30 minutes or less with no wipes. CT usually takes 45-50 minutes unless every party is full of overgeared players. -

I also, with the way you talk and present yourself, highly doubt that your opportunity costs are THAT high to the point where hopping on a game (for free) for an hour or two would truly hinder your day-to-day.

To be honest, it is worth it to come back for the weekend.
Latency or not, you can still see the new dungeons and raid content in the weekend, then go back to not playing. Why not see everything that 2.1 brought? It's doable in a weekend, so go ahead and do it!
