Healer LB...when to, not to?

Just a question..its ok when i run with my FC, cos we make plans...but in DF when I'm just practising fights.....is the Healer using the LB frowned upon?

3 people left standing in HM primal...do I do it - or should I wipe and let us try again because I know really the BLM wants it later? (and I'm not sure there is enough time to get it back after my use)

How often do you use it? I think of it as a real goddam emergency LB....is that the general consensus?

It is an emergency LB. When your HM Primal party has 3 people left standing and you can use LB3 to revive the others, why not. If your party almost down the primal and a LB3 from a DPS would kill it, tell the DPS to use it. It's all about estimating which one is better for which situation. I rarely have to use LB when I go as healer.

healing LB is kind of worthless, considering is basically just a medica with a long cast time. It would be like making a Monk limit break a bootshine.

Unless the Boss has a sliver of HP left which can be DPS-LB3 downed then it's ok to use healer LB3. It's often applauded as well. However, if both healers are still alive with at least 1 tank I would give the healers a chance to raise the group. Really depends on the fight you're in. Some fights you're just running around dodging stuff without the tanks taking a beating it's not hard to get everyone back us with raises either.

Finally, keep in mind there is a range on the Raise-ga (i say 80-90% of the boss area) so it's possible you might not get everyone if someone died on the opposite side of the boss arena.

There have been some times it's let groups i've been in beat HM primals, so i'd say worth it if you can judge well. Sometimes people go down due to a mistake or whatever, and we do better after getting up. Other times, it's better to just wipe. As GI Joe would say, knowing is half the battle. ;)

The timing of an lb raise requires a lot of precision and knowledge of the fight too. The invulnerability time players get from raises is practically nonexistent with lb3. Raising a party only to have them all drop again to raid wide damage puts everyone to brink of death, which is far harder to recover from than weakness. Not to mention the very very long animation lock, during which you will not be able to heal your tank. That said, a well timed limit break really has the potential to bring a party back from a near wipe situation. Unless your party is saving lb for a mechanic that will absolutely wipe you if it doesn't go off, there's no reason to not use it to try and recover

From a dps stand point, the lb3 adds 60 to 80 seconds of dmg for a 6 second cast. Assuming you arnt mp depleted and Titan isn't in reliably kill able range (5-7%) you get exponential time reduction returns for every dps that stays up, the second healer hopefully gets up in your scenario, no mp cost ale cure 2, so by all means us it.

That said this is something best left to the Brd or sch to do.

There are very few times I've found a healer LB useful. The first question I ask is, can I recover this without using the limit break? (Swiftcast rez other healer or a summoner). Then I ask if I can't do that, can I continue to heal the fight through without using the LB (or would we hit an enrage mechanic). If I can't, can the tank survive without heals while the limit break charges and fires / can I get him healed if he's low afterward? Finally after all that I ask myself if we need the LB for a DPS-burn phase, or to survive an incoming attack (killed spiny plume early? tank LB might save you once... same with ultima-4 bomb tank LB helps keep ppl alive through it!)

Because of how long it takes to fire (so no heals going out), and how long people are stuck in place (oops AoE under your feet now)... it is almost always better to restart than to use a healer LB.

Well timed I am sure can mean a difference, I use it in Titan hard mode, when the main tank have Holmgang and there was no bombs, just the tank and I was left, and the dam boss was at 5% so it was a bet “all or nothing” :eek: and work, I rise the party, heal the tank and we manage to beat the boss, shame the reward was a axe, useless to me since I have relic, but was a sweet victory. :cool:

The Limit Break bar usually resets whenever you pull a boss, so if you're in a desperate situation where odds are you've already lost then there's no reason not to use it. I have been in a few battles where using it actually prevented a wipe and let us win, however those are very rare.

To be honest though, the healers shouldn't be the ones to use the limit break and it should instead be used by a Bard if they're still alive. Since a healer isn't stuck in animation, it allows them to keep on healing and hopefully prevent people from instantly dying again.

The Spine Plume reached three stacks and exploded; killing off our BLM and the other healer. I was backed into a corner healing here, there wasn't enough time for me to get the other healer up and get the tanks back on their feet before the next phase, and even if I did manage to get him back up in time he would have been low on MP. Raising someone with LB3 gives them full HP and MP.

As a rule of thumb we save LB3 for the healers unless we're sure a DPS LB will finish the boss off. It's very rare that a tank LB is needed.

I've yet to experience a win after pulling off an LB3. A lot of times I cast it, 2-3 people die right after. I do have success stories where 3 people die, and me and the other healer manage to pull things together and save the run. Haven't been as fortunate with Healers LB though.

I saved a Duty Roulette Pharos Sirius run the other day with a pinch LB2 when a Lunatic Voice got through and all the other party members got hit with the room-wide charm. Got her down first attempt because of it.

The problem with healer LB is that when more then one person dies, it usually results in a wipe any way. Using healer LB just results in another death and a larger durability loss :(

Really does depend on who died and what the encounter is. With the changes in 2.1 and the immunity after being raised, it's now more viable than ever. For things like Titan, you really have to pick your moment; which is as Landslide is being cast, right before Mountain Buster.
