CT drop rates...

Seem pretty skewed? I see a lot of same drops, when I ask others they see the same drops too. Given the large loot pools per boss, and skewed rates, it gets irritating very quickly..

I feel SE really needs to even out their drop rates and consider CT bosses dropping two chests. I wouldn't mind running it several times a week but having to run 12+ for one tank piece to drop (any one, not a specific one) is just ridiculous...

I find CT very fun, but it is often frustrating purely because of the poor/skewed drop rates

RNG is RNG. You can say you've seen alot of certain pieces, and others here can come and tell you they've never seen those pieces or only rarely.

the trick is...when I ask others, they are seeing the same thing...on the same pieces... coil has the same issue.

Ask more people, guaranteed you'll find someone with similar issues on other loot. For instance, I find a lot of tank and MDPS pieces. I know people who complain about finding nothing but healer or MNK. And then there are many others who will say they've seen a bit of everything.

you know, I'm not even going to argue about the specific rates here because forums will always say whatever they can to make you wrong just because they want you to be. My asking around ingame has had very consistent results but lets not even talk about that, someone on the forum will always swear the opposite...


At any rate, I really feel they need top make bosses drop two chests. Especially if more classes/jobs with different gear coming out in the future only increasing loot load. roughly 75% of my runs I see every piece trashed, which is pretty sad honestly. When we get more job specific gear in the future it will get worse. Most people I see hating on CT ingame have been because they required 10+ runs a week to get something, not the dungeon itself. We can already only get one piece a week, which is fine, at least make it a bit more feasible to get a piece. Some people struggle to just get one for their class I can't imagine how painful it will be to try get that "last piece" of the sets...

Everyone said the same thing about Coil drops until SE actually admitted there really was an issue. If you haven't noticed DRG drops have a reputation for being the most common in CT, exactly as they were in Coil before the fix. Wouldn't be surprised if SE reintroduced the exact same issue in CT.

Actually, in our runs it's semi even, though only certain pieces don't want to drop for us. Also the issue was only with Turn 1, and was only that one chest dropped 4 items.

The plural of "anecdote" isn't "evidence". You need to present hard data.

CT drops have seemed very even so far, and I've run every week since 2.1.

Nearly the entire DRG set dropped one run, nearly the entire MNK set dropped on another run. Aside from that I've been able to get something I've wanted within a few runs every week.

This week i had 11+ runs with 0 drops for my Monk, 0 absolute 0 drops for my class ! How is that even possible, and dont come to me with RNG, this is something made by humans so fully random is it not !

And to top it i was in 6 runs in such a sitoation like the photo ! I wish you luck if something drops for you and you can get it! We are 3 Monks, well i supose could be worse, we could be 4 Monks !!

Do you even know what the issue with coil drops was?

It was solely on turn 1, and the problem was that one of the chests has twice as much loot as the other.

It's RNG.

Last week, ~70% of all CT drops were monk gear. This week I'm noticing a lot of healer gear. I wonder if the loot table formula's are based on time (minute/hour/day/year) based factors and it gravely shifts every 5-7 days. I read of this form of random generation in a programing textbook and cannot help but wonder...

It seems more random than Coil to me, which is fine.

I'll take randomly bad luck over Dragoon gear dropping every single week, ever, any day.

CT drops are pretty terrible. Took me 3 weeks just to get Drg gloves and I ran 10+ times each week trying. A lot of the runs are the same drops over and over and over again, with a very few occasionally offering something different. Can cry RNG all you want but it's some of the worst RNG ever, given SE's track record of terrible game coding though it wouldn't surprise me if their algorithm was written by a semi-retarded 10 year old.

I don't line the RNG in CT. At least it doesn't work in my favor I did around 30 runs of CT last week and didn't get the items I needed/wanted. It's like coil for me all I see is drg stuff :>

Yes it will be pseudo random but that just means you can predict the next result if you know the starting conditions. It doesn't make the actual drops any less random in effect. You're just seeing clusters which is entirely expected in any random distribution.

I have the same feeling sometimes on Hyperion : 2 week ago, DRG everywhere; last week MNK and now it's healer time. But, each week, I saw drop for each job, so the RNG in CT seems nice to me.

For me and many others on my server, Bard and Monk drops are the most common CT drops.

It's simple enough with 4 melee groups, tank just needs to drag mobs up to (but not on) the plate. Generally you can't have your OT hitting Atomos for this strat though.

It's not as simple as that. The P-RNG is not really a good enough system for determining the even distribution of loot and that's what people are expecting as they want fairness.

I see a huge amount of BRD and MNK, followed by DRG. I see very little caster gear at all, and not much tank gear. Healer is about the same as the tank gear. In over 30 runs I've only seen the tank leggings once. :o I think what bothers me, is when you do the raid back to back say 2-3 times in a row, and the same piece of loot drops all those times. ;x

Last night in Coil all drops, ALL of them were monk gear. Next run we had 3 DRG and 1 monk drop.... What pisses me off is we can only get one thing a week, but when it takes a hour to run CT and the only thing you get for that hour is stuff that no one can use its frustrating. Even if we did have 2 monks in our first group (we had none and no alts) pieces still would have been wasted. Loot should rotate on a more even/random basis. Sick of going into CT and only seeing monk and drg drop, and Im sick of going into Coil and not seeing one piece of healer gear drop for weeks at a time. If you are going to lock us out so hard SE you need to figure out a better randomizer for this loot.

There's absolutely no way an individual person (or even a community of us) could predict the next drop based on previous drops. That's just not humanly possible. The spread of drops is evenly distributed (over a large enough sample) so it is fair.

You would need a supercomputer to even try detect if the results were not purely down to chance.

Random or Even, pick one. You can't have both. By making them more even, you are making them less random and visa versa.

I can tell all sorts of stories when it comes to CT loot -

I've seen a ridiculous number of MNK eyepatches off of KB
I've seen 6+ healer bodies from KB in 4 dozen runs or so, only seen the tank body once in that number of tries and thankfully I got it (compared to someone in my FC who wants the healer body but has never seen it)
Last chest I'd say trends towards tank stuff in my runs, only seen a caster body from it once. Most other chest pieces I've seen 1 to 2 of generally speaking other than the healer one.

So ya, RNG is RNG. :|

edit: and for all the talk of DRG loot in Coil, I've been running it a few months now and still don't have a piece of DRG armor other than tassets and some accessories :o

I would just like to say "Thank you!" to those who are having issues with the RNG. I'm on the other end of the spectrum where I've gotten something I could use from my first run of CT every week since it came out. In terms of Yin/Yang, I prosper from your distraught!

Granted, I'm seeking either Tank or Dragoon gear, so the odds of this happening doesn't really seem to bad (1:3 chance per boss with 5 bosses?).

In the parties I was the common drop was always monk gear (maybe it was because I joined as monk?)

It sucks, but I do think it's just random. I was after the Crimson Vest for SMN last week. Ran it 13x times and only saw it once (lost the lot, of course). 6/13 of those times the last chest dropped the 'Crown of Light' for tanks. No joke. Ran it the first time this week and saw it (also won it somehow with 2 other BLMs lotting against me).

It's just Murphy's Law that the item/s you're looking for to be the hardest to come by sometimes.
