Optimal way to play both Sch and Smn?

I've been healing (sch) my entire FFXIV career and have come to a point where I want to have a dps alt--thing is, I love pet classes and only want to play Smn.

As it stands, the two jobs share attributes so one will always be higher than the other. I can reset my attributes with the hymn scroll but at a whopping 10k seals and the decline of fates it just doesn't seem feasible to have enough of these things.

A reduction in the cost of the scrolls would help myself and other people in my shoes. Heck, make it a gil-sink and sell it for a modest price from a vendor; I'd be happy with either option.

Is it not obvious? Just put 15 into each stat. It's not rocket science. If your main stat is 450, 15 is only a 3% difference. That's nothing in my opinion. Play the game, have fun , and quit worrying about nonsense like this.

The stat customization system is stupid but yeah, if you put 15 points into mind/int the loss of stats in either is pretty minor.

I thought I could forget about this since I got better gear and could do T4 comfortably. Then I saw the bizarre damage in T5. Guess I won't be playing summoner for a long time.

I'm not really at this point yet since my acn is only lvl 32, but I've been thinking about putting everything in INT and using cleric stance on SCH. that would still allow me to use swiftcast, surecast and protect. am I missing anything here? any skill I absolutely .must. have that won't allow me to use cleric stance? I've tried asking this in several topics before but people either ignored it or yelled at me, which makes me automatically not take them seriously -.-

This doesn't work because Cleric Stance does not only swap your INT and MND attributes, it also increases offensive magic potency by 10% and reduces healing potency by 20%. So even if you wind up having more MND by using it, you're still taking a 20% hit to healing throughput. Cleric Stance on SCH is used exactly the same way it's used on WHM--for when you want to deal damage.

Err... I think you're not quite getting what Cleric's Stance does. It doesn't prevent you from using certain skills, what it does is swap your INT and MND stats, and additionally apply a 20% damage increase and a 20% penalty to healing.

You should never, EVER heal in Cleric's Stance. As you leveling, the stats will be close enough together that the 20% penalty will be a greater than any benefit you gain from switching the two. It gets even worse in endgame: Since all the INT heavy gear is restricted to just SMN and BLM, and SCH only gets the MND heavy endgame gear, your MND will vastly outweigh your INT. Yes, Cleric's Stance swaps the stats AFTER all bonuses from things such as gear.

So, tl;dr, even if you allocate all your points to intelligence, never heal in Cleric's Stance.

For DPS, should not be an issue. But for healer, I have encountered may times in which just that bit, is the diff between life and death. So really do not know if it would be a great impact.

It's dumb that they share ability points, but yeah, just put 15 into each. It won't make much of a difference in either. Or for the one you play more, put in 20 vs 10. Idk.

It's weird to have leveled ACN --> SMN to 50 knowing I haven't unlocked SCH but that's it's 50 for whenever I want to. Hopefully SE doesn't do that more in the future.

Kind of been wondering about this too. I unlocked SCH, geared it out in full DL healing, but too scared to heal with it in case it's not as good since all my points when into INT. So I levelled WHM. But SCH is something I want to play sometime... SMN is my main, and always will be, but just want to see how the other half live.

Wouldn't cleric stance also affect the stats you get srom Equipment? In which case you would Need to wear int gear on your sch and as far as I know that is not possible for everything over Ilvl 70 (I could be wrong here i haven't played the mage classes yet)
