Summoner - The Other Tank?

Clearly summoner was not designed to be a tanking class, seeing as we are clad in cloth. However, we do have our Titan-Egi.

I have done a few runs so far where me and a few friends queued as three dps and a healer, and had Titan-Egi tank most of the dungeons. It actually works out surprisingly well to be honest. The little guy can really hold aggro pretty well, pack-mobs tend to be a slight challenge, but so long as the mobs are marked, Titan's AoE is generally enough to keep the hate.

Am I saying that Titan is to be used for all tanking? God no. Clearly Titan isn't going to be tanking Coil anytime soon, though this could be argued for certain turns where tank swapping isn't mandatory.

So, what I'm wondering is if anyone else has really taken an in-depth look at Titan and how certain stats affect him. Can he parry? Does skillspeed benefit him at all? Does he scale on our Int or Str, perhaps both?

As of right now, I am making a rosegold accessory set for Titan, attempting to get his HP as high as I possibly can. So far I have him sitting at 8.6k health, with sustain ticking at 694. This is by no means an actually viable path for summoner, but it's fun to think about.

I would HOPE that 3 healers he could tank Titan HM. Ive personally done AK with titan tank, its all dependant on the healer. Titan can hold hate np, the biggest issue is healers not being able to target him. Also, my advice to you when tanking with titan, when you pull, use Tri Disaster and then his AOE move so he can get hate from all nearby mobs

I mess with titan tanking all the time for fun, I find having him on obey makes it easier for CC.

Focus Target is a great tool.

I had my Titan Egi tank ADS adds in Turn 1 once.

Im on PS3, I know how to tag something with focus target, not sure how to target them on PS3. Do you know how?

Me and 3 others will sometimes do an all SMN party with Titan-Egis and speedrun Wanderer's Palace. It's surprisingly fast and efficient (and fun!). We would all send our titan's after different mob members and cast all of our dot's with shadow flare and bane and they go down fast, sometimes titan's won't even need healing.
They work great on bosses, sometimes one or two would switch their titan out for garuda/ifrit. to help bring boss down quicker. These runs average maybe 12 min in WP, give or take.

We tried it in Amdapor Keep but that was much tougher, but doable. (haven't tried post 2.1 AK though, might be easier now)

Try all SMN parties yourselves, it's fun :D

Create the mouse by holding L1 and pressing R3 and target titan manually then make him the focus target and get rid of the mouse.

Hit square on target, choose focus target
