What happens when you change Grand Companies?

I'm currently the highest rank with the Twin Adders, have 50K seals and have nothing more to buy. I want to change to a different GC, but I'm not sure what I lose with the conversion. Do you keep your seals to spend on the new GC (If you do lose them, could I buy up some skill point respecs to use later on?)? Will the weapons and armor I bought from the Twin Adders still be useable or become locked? What about barding and the minion? Anything else?

-You will still keep all of the seals but they will become unusable. For example all the twin adder seals you have can't be used with the immortal flames.
-All of the weapons and armor will also be locked out.
-Your barding will be locked
-Not sure about the minion

Also if you want to change back it will cost you 50k

No. Seals from each company are unique and can't be transferred. However, they are not lost. If you change back to the previous company at a later date, all seals earned will still be there. If you go to your currency tab, you can still see the value of other GC seals earned, but they wil be greyed out. If you aren't planning to return to that GC, then by all means, spend the points on something you can use elsewhere

Locked. You won't be able to equip items belonging to a different GC. But you can trade them in to your new GC for seals when you unlock the option.

You can not equip barding belonging to a different GC, but if you already had a piece of gear equipped it will still be there. Say you had the Twin Adder feathered helm on and you went to Flames, You could equip the Flames Body and legs, but so long as you don't overwrite the helm with another one, it will still be wearing it. Minions you can summon regardless of GC affiliation.

You can switch back at any time (for a 50,000 gil fee - only the first transfer is free) and wil be able to use the seals and items for that GC, and you will retain the rank you reached prior to switching. You can hop to all 3, collect the barding and minions and get the easy GC achievements done before returning to the one you most like.

In addition to what have been said above, IIRC, your rank will be resetted as well.

I believe this affects PvP as well. I think if you change it resets your PvP rank.
I'm not 100% on this, though. =/

It doesnt reset but like with seals you have an individual pvp rank for every grand company. So if you change back to your old company you will have your old rank.

You keep the rank in the old GC, but you need to rank up again in the new GC

I was just scrolling around forums and usually don't post, but something that should also be told (I'm stuck in this very position myself) is that you are stuck with your transfereed company for at least 30 days. say I maxed Maelstrom, and now I maxed out Immortal Flames, and yesterday I was gonna transfer to Twin Adder, and it said I still have to wait 4 more days :P just a heads up.

1: Barding and gear are locked to GC but they are not lost. Minions are not.

2: Seals are kept and so is your ranking for that GC.

3: There is a fee for changing and a long wait period before you can change again.

4: To rank up you will have to do the Hunting logs for that GC and the dungeon quests.

5: I cannot answer anything about pvp because I have no reason to change again to find out.. sorry.

I own all barding and all 6 pets for the GCs (yes max rank for all 3). I am 100% certain on 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Thank you all. Losing rank was my worry.

Question for this though. 6 pets? I thought each one had one pet? Details on other pets please?

Each has a chocobo hatchling and a mammet, the hatchling is purchased, the mammet is from achievements.

Hunting log completion is one pet. Other is the choco from seals.
