Can't post because level not high enough?

I'm trying to post for macro help on the user interface forum, but my level 12 isn't high enough to post? I've never heard of a rule like this, nor can i find mention of it. What level do I have to be to actually post for help in the proper places?

Since I'm not able to post in the proper place, I'll ask for help here.

I'm using the controller to play on my PC so i'm trying to get some healing macros set up. I'm trying to get a target of target macro set up, so i can heal and toss a bit of damage out without constantly swapping targets.

I found:

/micon "Cure"
/ac "Cure" <tt>
/ac "Cure" <me>

but it's not working. It doesn't cast the spell at all.

The only reason the mods did this was, back during Beta, people would constantly spam the fourums, which made it kind of hard to find posts they really need. Atleast, That's what I heard had happen.

Are you getting any error messages when you use that macro? What do you have targeted, and what does your target have targeted? Can you cast Cure without using a macro?

The only reasons I know of for that macro to not work at all would be your target's target being either out of range or out of your line of sight. If you don't have a target (and thus no <tt>) or if your target doesn't have a target, it should fail that line and fall to the second to self-cast. If your target's target is hostile or otherwise uncurable, it should self-cure via the first line, then fail the second line since you're already casting.

Well, that being in some situation that won't let you cast Cure (out of mana, silenced/stun/slept, not having access to the skill, etc.).

Thank you for the link. I'm standing in a town, targeting random players that have other players targeted. It doesn't cast on them, on their target, nor does it default cast on me. Casting "Cure" directly does work.

Are you getting any error messages?

Same behavior if you type /ac "Cure" <tt> directly into the chat log?

i get the error:
The command /ac “Cure” <tt> was used incorrectly.
The command /ac “Cure” <me> was used incorrectly.

EDIT: It almost works now. Part of my problem was the quotation marks. Apparently Copy+Paste doesn't exactly work. Haven't yet been able to test the <tt> part yet.

No need for quotation marks when the action is a single word, although you have to place them for actions comprised of more than 1 word. On a side note, in order to avoid writting mistakes, Auto-translation Dictionary feature works perfectly fine.
For the <tt> placeholder, it should work provided that 'target of your current target' is on casting range.

PS. Remember there's the command /mo used to cast actions on targets you're mousing over (both character on screen and name on party list). I've seen many healers claiming it comes very handy.

I don't use a mouse for this game, as my hand doesn't really allow the intense point & click gaming anymore. I use a controller now, so i'm trying to get macros working to help restore the healing speed i use to have.

EDIT: I don't know if anyone is still reading this, but I'm at another snag. The /ac "Cure" <tt> works if i have a player targeted who's targeting another player. But if I have an enemy targeted who's targeting another player, i only heal myself. Advice would be great.

Would suit your needs?
It will cure any PC/NPC directly targetted.
If target is enemy, then it'll skip to 2nd line and cure target of target.

I tried that and it says "Invalid Target", and that's it. Will try again though, maybe i had a typo or something.

EDIT: Oh, and how to get rid of the annoying error chime and message?

Actually, if the target is an enemy, it will self-cast cure and never make it to the second line.

Macros don't do anything different from using the ability directly on the chosen target (<t>, <tt>, <mo>, whatever). And all heal spells self-cast when the chosen target is hostile.

You can turn off errors in the chat log, but not the sound and not the message that shows up in the middle of the screen.

Yeah, it's the sound i'd really like to get rid of.

does <p1> <p2> <petc> (replace <me> or <tt>) work in this like it did in FFXI? I'd find that an easier way to go if I was do roll healer in this one. You can keep the mob targetted while still casting on party members. P1 through to P8 as ordered in the top left party list.

If you macro it, actually you have to add a new line /ac Cure <me> for it to self-cast cure in case first two conditions are not met.

For Cure <t> you will be targeting a PC/NPC (cure won't heal enemies so it'll skip to next line)
If you're targeting an enemy/boss, <tt> will target whoever the boss is targeting (tank normally)
If you're not targeting anything, then the final line <me> will activate healing yourself, as would Cure normally do outside of macro.

So its working as intended :D

Yes, I just tested this to see if anything's changed. But no, it still works this way, just like it has since release.

It's because, like I said, macros don't do anything special that the spell itself doesn't do. The placeholders just let you define an end target other than your actual target. But the behavior doesn't change when you cast on that end target.

If you're targeting an enemy and hit Cure (without a macro), you'll cure yourself. If your end target, whether it's <tt> or <t> or <mo> or <square>, is an enemy, you'll cure yourself. Just like casting the spell "on" that target.

So basically, there's no point in that macro. I wanted to be able to dps and toss out a heal when need be without target cycling (really sucks on a controller). But if all that does is heal me, then there's no point that I can see.

For cure spells, yeah, you're better off (IMO) picking one targeting method and sticking with it. If I remember right, using up/down on a gamepad to soft-target a party member and casting Cure (without hitting confirm) will not change your hard-target (really no idea if there are official terms for these), so that makes it a little easier to keep DPSing while tossing out an occasional cure.

For DPS spells, the <t>/<tt> combination actually works, since you don't have to worry about self-casting. With my WHM, I keep all my healing spells un-macro'ed, but use the <t>/<tt> for damage spells. That way I can usually keep the tank targeted and DPS whatever the tank is targeting (or switch to a specific target if I need to).

I use the <t> and <tt> with my arcanist (not sure of actual name atm) so i can consisently dps only what the tank is dealing with and make that tank's life a little easier.

If this is what you want to do, the best thing is to make your attacks on a <tt> macro instead of your heals. That way you can have the tank selected while attacking his targets. Useful because you never have to go from targeting an enemy to the tank, and you'll never be attacking anything else other than what the tank is, less chance of you getting enmity.

Of course, you could also put a <f> (focus target) on the cure spell, so you can have any enemy selected you like, while curing your focus target, most likely the tank.
