I'm not sure why this isn't in the game yet, but as it is right now, Lalafels are the #1 PvP Race due to the element of surprise. This is a necessity. Please put this feature in ASAP.

Yes PLEASE. Had to play against a full lalafell team the other day.. oh god
Four arena frames that all say Fresh Meat and have no discernible difference at all, thanks in advance SE!
Add that with PvP Healer and Caster armor looking the same. You have a cause for confusion. But I'd rather they fix the tab targeting system first. Always have the target in the middle of your screen as priority being tab targeted.
This is definitely something that SE needs to implement, and in order to distinguish enemy players from one another, display their class/job icon next to the name on the unit frames. It's pretty silly looking through a gate and having to guess what the other team's composition is.
Almost everyone now hides their weapon and hat, making it difficult if not impossible to tell who is what, not to mention people hiding in the corners. Lalafell or not, i can never see what people are 90% of the time, unless they have their weapon out, using pve (iconic) gear or go into fighting stance (which shows their weapon). I can always spot the healers regardless of race because I see them casting buffs.
They should just make solid gates so we cannot see anyone from the other team. Not knowing what the other team is/has is part of the fun. You wont be at a disadvantage because the same thing also applies to the other team. You'll need to adjust your strategy during combat, and thats where your skills in gameplay, strategy and decision making will shine.
Edit: I dont think they should allow us to see the composition of the other teams. You need to be able to quickly adapt during battle to any composition. For example: if you saw before hand a party containing a BLM, they will get focused. Not saying there is anything wrong with that, because I always get focused, but then there is no element of surprise, and in a PVP fight, element of surprise is a legit strategy, which would be available to EVERYONE.
With all the people queueing as groups of three, with their 4th buddy queueing solo at the same time, it would be nice if we could tell what class they are. SMN/SCH/BLM all wearing the same colored clothing is a little tough to differentiate at times. You can sometimes tell early on, but once the fighting begins and they start sprinting everywhere, the only way we can tell what is what, is if we marked them early or we try to discern from their weapons. Not as easy as it sounds.
Not easy, but then the problem you are describing also affects the opponent party, so you're not at a disadvantage, they are just as confused and struggling just as hard your team is.
Fair enough, both sides are at a disadvantage. But that's not what this is about. This is not PC gaming in the 90s. Adding in an arena UI with class markers would be a huge Quality of Life boost for PvP. Until you have plate a normal sized race and played against a team of 4 lalafell wearing the same colored armor, you can't understand.
No... If you want addons and stuff to help carry you go download gladius and play wow. I dont think there needs to be any UI changes.. Focus shouldnt even be in the game as well.
Not knowing what you're up against and formulating/executing strategies live (during battle) based on your enemy composition adds more quality to PvP rather than using GUI to do everything for you.
Again, element of surprise is KEY for any real fight, its just more exciting when you don't know what you're up against, and when the battle starts you're like OHS*** and change your battle plan mid fight.
Except Lalafells have a huge advantage here in that it is nearly impossible to tell what class they are. Every other race it is fairly simple upon a glance to discern their class, with Lalafells this is not so. This advantage is a pretty big one and also unfair.
I don't think this is necessary. The less the person has to do themselves the easier its going to be to have a single party formation that beats all. The element of surprise is awesome. I mean.... technically you can all rush in naked and get behind the wall before you equip your gear with your gear set macro. Or equip fake mage looking gear as a tank and run in and have them target you and switch gear to plate armor before anyone attacks. I'v done both of these and its really fun to see peoples reactions. When I play scholar i have had it follow the other casters out so that people think they're the healer. PVP should be dynamic. I don't think we need Arena Frames to have the game do our work for us.
