Sastasha Speed Run?

Hello fellow tanks,

This is just an observation, and my personal opinion, and I am opening it for discussion to see how others feel.

I ran Sastasha the other day while leveling my LNC, and the tank was a WAR that was doing his/her low level roulette. This tank rushed through the entire dungeon, and pulled multiple trash mob groups at a time, even pulling a group or two into boss rooms. Then at the end, he/she just rushed in, and started the last boss without explaining anything. I've been here before, so I knew what to do, but there was a LNC that was new to the dungeon. The tank ended up yelling at the other LNC for not getting the bubbles or whatever they are.

Try to remember that some people will be new to low level dungeons, and are in their learning stages. This LNC had never been in Sastasha, and learned absolutely nothing about how to run it normally. The tank skipped the note about which crystal to interact with for the first boss, so this LNC didn't learn about that. He learned to just click at random, and get poisoned three times before getting the right one. Oh yeah, and the tank almost died a couple of times due to the lack of mitigation/hp pool at that level. He had to kite 4-5 mobs around until the healer got him up while the other LNC and I chased a pack of mobs around trying to actually land a hit on them.

So anyway.. What are your thoughts? When I run low level stuff, I always stop to explain things. I especially make sure to explain any boss battle when people are new.

Edit: This is just the most recent example. I have seen it multiple times over the past week or so.

I don't think I got trolled. I think it was just a higher level tanking wanting to rush through to get his/her bonus from the roulette. We still cleared. The main concern I had was that new players aren't learning when people do this.

It's somehow even worse when people rush through the Praetorium for they duty, telling people to skip CS, not waiting on elevators or entering bosses . . .

Why is is a high level tank doing a low level roulette for only 100 philo and 10 myh? Its a waste of time and that exp bonus can be better spent on leveling subs imho. The DR bonus is just way to good to waste. It's unnecessary when you consider farming CT, BC and the High Lvl or Main Scenario DR for tomes (more often than not you will probably cap your myth tomes looking for that one gear in CT). I use the low level DR to level my pug and I actually love killing everything on site as it gives me 1k+ exp with rested bonus.

Yeah. I'm not sure on that one. I use my low level roulette for lower level classes. I also like killing everything for the xp. I hate FATEs, so dungeons are my primary way of leveling alt classes.

Why would picking up extra mobs be any faster since there are two single target dps (LNC)? If there was a blm, brd, smn perhaps. All you are doing is making more work for the healer who would have to spam heals instead of letting them dps.

I don't have any level 50 crafting classes and the tome mat market has crashed, so... I run low level roulette on my 50 PLD for the gil. Lol. >_> Also, to move the queue along; I queue in progress and very often get into a group whose tank abandoned them at the door with 85+ minutes still on the clock. That's just depressing.

Besides, the point of multiple pack pulling is to burn them down faster with AoE, yes? Two LNCs at that level have no AoE; was the WAR expecting to AoE the mobs down by himself with just Overpower? Sounds like more of a strain on TP and the healer than it's worth.

Fast pulls should be saved for higher level dungeons or if everyone is already experienced with the dungeon and agrees to it, IMO.

Yeah. My thoughts exactly. He/she did have to break for TP here and there, so yeah.. Was likely spamming Overpower. I'm glad fellow tanks seem to be on the same page as me. Thank you for your feedback, everyone.

I had a roulette group last night with a Paladin treating Tamtara like it was WP. He was pulling like 3 groups of mobs at a time. We only wiped once, but it was still annoying. I was playing DRG so I could only kill one at a time while we had a BLM that just stood in the middle and casted Blizz 2 for forever.

God I hate this! Sadly it happens a lot. I recently tanked satasha and asked the group what they wanted to do as a whole. Go a direct route or explore every room. They wanted to do everything so I got plenty exp tanking.

I had the same problem too. Instead, I was a level 50 tank but because I am new to tanking, I chose to run low level duty to get some practice in. I am a whm main. So I was tank but had this sch wanting to rush things by pulling multiple mobs. I think this is not fair, considering we had 2 new people in our group.

The gil bonus isn't even that big. 3-4k? c'mon I make that just by doing peiste (or whatever its called) treasure hunt maps. You randomly get insane gil and/or mats that can be sold for such. I got a rosegold nugget hq and chinchilla hides and 8 coke plus 3k from one of my maps. Needless to say this is now becoming a staple in my pre-raid statics

I am so very glad that you made this thread, as I had a very similar experience earlier today in Tam Tara. I am a new tank as I just recently hit 50 WAR a couple of days ago and I just completed the main quest-line today.

I hopped on my GLD to do a DR round (huzzah for CC ability leveling) and I joined a group where at least two of the four individuals were doing a DR run in Tam Tara. No more than five minutes in the DRG began blowing past me and pulling mobs. At one point the DRG ran past a fight we were engaged in and into the boss room to engage the fight…

We ended up rushing through the dungeon, as the DRG dictated the speed. As someone who has been on the other side, I can understand the frustration of new players. I just hope more people realize that just because you have the dungeon experience, and it may be slightly boring, not everyone has that experience.

How about ppl just talk in their parties if they'd rather kill every single mob or go a more straight way. Of course pulling multiple mobs at once with no AoE potential in the party is just dumb. But if you notice your tank wants to rush just ask about it, maybe he doesn't have much time, maybe he thinks going in the other rooms isn't really worth the time lose compared to exp gain or maybe he is just a douche. In the end the tank can't pull more than his healer can heal. ;-)
And don't let your parties be lead by the DDs...

I run the low lvls on my 50 war and I treat like I would any other dungeon with strangers. I run it just like I would have at the appropriate lvl. I number mobs, I pull one group at a time and there is no rushing. It may bother others who have rouletted, but tough, some people are new or unfamiliar and need to get into the habit of running a dungeon. The only thing I don't do is explain the bosses, but then I am crazy and actually find half the fun of doing a dungeon the first time is finding out what the boss does and adapting - my friends and I managed all the dungeons without reading about them first, so there is no requirement to give people a step by step guide, while many may think it is good and helpful to do, as far as I am concerned it takes away some of the wonder - especially on low lvl dungeons where if the new guy messes up it won't matter.

As for the speed running douche, if he managed to speed run the dungeon he should be more than capable of dealing with the last boss without worrying about the mechanics, so why moan about a new guy not 'doing his job' just DPS the boss and the tank can hold any adds.

Course, I guess I am also an ass because even if no one in the group is low lvl I don't speed run so I am sure it bothers people at times, sorry, speed run isn't my style, I am anally methodical.

I do DR on low and high level dungeons. The only problem I have is that I sometimes forget where the treasure chests are. If I'm in your group, just remind me. I'm not trying to rush or anything, just forgot.

Honestly, it annoys me when I see level 50 people in the low level roulette. There are much easier ways to get Phil tomes and they complain a lot of times if you're trying to kill everything for EXP. If you want a fast Phil run, do WP like normal people....
