You annoy the living piss out of me sometimes.
Sorry, what does fishing (in regards to this forum post) mean? I've heard this term a lot?
It means a tank is trying to instantly queue up in a "in progress" ct so as to avoid the half hour "reserving instance" wait. If they don't get it, they withdraw, resetting 3 parties of queueing players back to the end of the line.
Horrible exploit which affects 23 people, and is entirely anonymous.
I'm a tank and refuse to do it.
I don't understand the point of this honestly... That seems like a longer time sink...
I could be wrong here, but playing with rng duty finder as well as loot drops... Idk seems like the only reason someone do this is to troll...
I'm guessing most of the populous think its 1 guy, withdrawing multiple times, but it's probly a bunch of different people that qeued and went afk, missing their que pop.
It doesn't only happen for CT and yes, it does annoy the hell out of me as well.
As a friend of mine once suggested, perhaps the development team should look into implementing a system which rewards Mythology tokens based on how many bosses you have slain in a run.
Its just one of them things you have to put up with i do not see them doing any thing about this problem annoying as it is for us.
Don't use Duty Finder for Crystal Tower.
Build a 8 man party with Party Finder, and then use Duty Finder to find 2 more teams.
Problem solved.
This doesn't solve anything considering any one of the other two teams could include a Tank or even a Healer that is 'fishing'.
What they need to do is what World of Warcraft eventually ended up doing and hiding the progress of the run, make 'join in progress' the norm and not just an option, add in a system that tries to push you into a fresh instance if the one before wasn't.
A few other ideas I can think of would be that if you personally withdraw from a que you must wait 2-5 minutes before being allowed to que again or add some sort of penalty for multiple withdrawls.
It's always dps that my groups have issues with withdrawal
true.. its funny because they complain about the 45+ minute queues, but just last night I was DF for ultima hm, accept prompt popped up... 2 tanks CHECK; 2 heals CHECK; 2/4 DPS... 45 seconds later: "party member has withdrawn".. next accept popped, 2 tanks CHECK; 2 heals CHECK; 3/4 dps.. immediate withdraw... went on about 4 times before full party.. but, doesn't really bother me because, like everyone knows,, tanks usually have instant queue for pretty much everything
Half an our reserving instance delay? I have yet to encounter this or hear of anyone encountering it.
I always to to join in progress as a tank. If some tank wants to leave or afk (get voted out) I am more than happy to finish up a half run dungeon for full myth.
Close, but there's a more appropriate reason. It's to attempt to skip ahead to the last 2 bosses so they can get an easy shot at the chest/helm and get quick myth tomes without having to trudge through the crap they don't care about. That reserving instance issue doesn't affect as many people as you might think, I know I've only had it happen one time since CT was released, and it was only for 10 minutes.
Plus why would you want to join an "in-progress" CT? Most of the time the reason why they're in progress is because the Alliance raged and everyone left so really you're wasting your own time.
@OP: I fully agree and I refuse to do it myself. Pisses the living shit out of me when I get the window to que only to have it cancel and then 5 seconds later appear again. Also Healers (and possibly DPS?) are guilty of this as well.
DPS guilty of it? Yeah, LOL no. If you're lucky enough to get a queue in under 30 minutes there's no way in hell I'm going to go "Hmm.. TROLOL let me withdraw and wait another 40 minutes". Most of the time in scenarios where DPS are the only ones unchecked is because they've been waiting so long that by the time the queue pops they don't have time to do whatever they signed up for. On the off chance you get lucky and get DF to pop in like 10 minutes its usually an empty instance where everyone rage quit and left. (This of course if you have join in progress checked)
When I'm sitting in a que with 6/6 tanks 6/6 healers and 11/12 dps. I know how it feels using df as a dps which is why I find that its way better to join PF groups when I switch to my drg since we can que as a party.
Im just saying there's always a shade of grey when it comes to the "Blame Game"
It's not just tanks for CT. The problem with CT is that the pieces usually desired are dropped at the last 2 bosses so people "fish" for 2/4 , 3/4 completed CTs. Tanks/DPS/Healers have all done this.
It's not a thing on Excalibur at least. Most of the time it's an asshole trying to get the boss he needs only.
Funny thing is, there's a guy in my LS who does this, then bitches when the group's fail. Well, why do you think people were dropping anyway dumbass?
Yeah, not many people like that guy much. :\
Hi, I don't think it is a tank thing, and it seems to happen nearly always one or several times, and not only in Crystal Tower. Party is ready, then somebody has withdrawn (random, most times a DPS since they are 4, many times a tank or a healer). I suppose people start the duty finder, go do other things while they wait (like a quest or levequest for example) and the duty finder pops in the middle and they decide to withdraw and finish what they are doing.
They just need to make it so if you withdraw (not afk'd) you cant queue up again for 1 minute. Solves everything.
was actually talking about this the other night with a couple guys in my FC.. came up with the first withdraw should be let alone, cuz sometimes shit happens.. 2 in a row, 30 second timer.. 3 in a row 1 minute, 4 in a row 5 minutes... only gets more harsh from there, cuz come on, 3 withdraws in a row.... we all know what's going on there.
Simple answer, put a 1 minute wait timer on re-queuing for DF if you hit withdraw after the party fill pop up.
