[2.1 Patch]Thyrus vs The Cane of Crags

Hi guys. Today i dropped whm weapon from Titan and i saw that it's the same level as relic and it has some identical buffs.

i have both but i don't know which one to use.

Titan weapon is good for mana and has also earth resistence (for doing Titan Hm itself or other bosses based on earth)

Thyrus has spellspeed instead.

Ok, here a lot of us may think "omg spellspeed all the way; you don't need mana because of shroud of the saints etc etc"..

Ok, however i've tried to cast spells with both but there is almost no difference for me. Cast and Recast time has only 0.02 secs of difference. It seems i didn't feel at all the difference.

Anyway aesthetically i like more titan weapon than relic =/

What do you think about that?

It's all preference, but basically ask yourself: Are you doing a Spell Speed build or Determination build long term? You even said yourself it makes no difference to you so really, unless you're pumping crit, there's no wrong way to build WHM.

Also consider Thyrus Zenith when it's time to upgrade. If you have a Static that has T5 on farm status, then you can probably skip this, but the Zenith is quite a hefty upgrade (please don't EVER consider the WHM Ex Primal staff for iLvl 90)

Another thing to consider is that SoS doesn't scale with stats, what does however is your natural MP regen with Piety, so Piety is a very nice stat to have overall, though not as critical as Mind or SpS/Det.

I'd go the Cane of Crags, if you were to choose. A Zenith (+1) Relic beats pretty much everything (and even the Allagan one if you don't like losing spell speed).

1 Det is something like 0.5 heals, so you lose 7 DET which is about 3 or 4 cure points?
Piety gives about 7.5 or 8 Mana in return. Using the Cane of Crags will give you 184 or so more MP, which is an extra cure and don't forget increases overall MP so more regeneration.

I can forsee Spell Speed getting a buff in the future anyway given how poor the returns are (even for pure spell speed build). Then again, every 2nd stat for WHM has poor returns, so you can pretty much roll with any or all of them and hardly notice a difference. This is why I tell people, while some classes have plain-as-day BiS gear...WHM you can pretty much gear up how you want since we really have no BiS outside of whatever offers the most Mind.

The extra buff to the Allagan weapons virtually make them all BiS for their respective jobs. Yes Allagan cane removes det, but you gain more Mind, Vit, Spell Speed, the addition to Piety, and best yet, 2 M attack damage, which if I recall correctly, one Weapon damage stat is the equivalent to about 5(??) of your primary stat. In this case being Mind <= I'd like some confirmation on this please

No-brainer. Thyrus all the way, as you need the Zenith version of it anyway.

But if you don't have any plans on upgrading Thyrus, then by all means, use the Titan one.

I'd say keep them both handy if you're interested in min/maxing.

Thyrus: Better when paired with a SCH using Selene due to a percentage increase with her spell speed buff and/or a BRD for MP issues.
Titan: Better when not paired with either due to getting an extra Cure out of it and having more MP means you regenerate more per tick.

I was going to still say it's opinion, but upon you stating it gives more weapon damage you're most definitely right. That would do more than the lack of determination it gives. It does indeed give 2 more damage.

For now i think i'm going to power up my gear, removing darklight set and upgrading it to Allagan then Thyr+1. Like Thorauku said, if there is no plan to upgrade Thyrus for now (and so it is because i think whm needs to get Allagan geared first of all <- correct me if i am wrong) maybe i can easly use Titan one mainly. and Yah, maybe it worth using both, like MartaDemireux said.

As mentioned, it's kind of a moot point, stick with whatever you have for the time being and focus on farming up what you need for Thyrus+1, whilst the omnirod isn't especially well itemised for us, it's still an ilvl 90 main hand with a nice magic damage boost which more than makes up for the rather mundane secondary stats. I honestly feel that spell speed is a complete waste of time but I still use my Allag cane for that precise reason :)

Thyrus Zenith is your biggest single upgrade over any other gear. With the weapon damage believe it's estimated to give an equivalent of 24 MND. The difference is massive compared to i90 chest or legs on WHM. Don't even bother with the Titan weapon.

Use the Titan weapon until you've got the mythology for the Zenith (which should usually happen before you do any other myth upgrades). And if you manage to get the Extreme Primal weapon before you get the Zenith (which is pretty unlikely), you might not bother.

Pie is a more useful secondary stat than SS or Det. You not only have a bigger pool but more recharge. Of course the EX Primal staff has Crit with it's sweet sweet pie...which is pretty crap, but I think it might be worth it.
