Hi, I'm Ruan from PBC. I thought I would just kind of have a chill thread here where people could ask me about our FC and stuff. I don't want to come off as self important or anything but this is just kind of a laid back gesture of good will hoping to be friendly with everyone.

Our Recruitment Contest Entry.

I'm sorry to say that I ran Crystal Tower with several members of Please Be Careful yesterday: Bailey Jay, Dank Aru, Scatman John, Oliver Ward, Pink Viper, and others. People from Please Be Careful were so bad that both groups B and C dropped out mid-run rather than continue dealing with your players. They were MPKing other groups, being insulting and using profanity directed towards other groups. It was basically a clinic in bad behavior in MMOs.

I haven't met anyone else from PBC, so I can't say whether they're all terrible people. Or even if those players were just having a really, really bad day and decided to take it out on everyone else. But if those are the type of people that are in PBC, I would advise people to be careful before joining.

I've had the same experience with trolls under the <PBC> tag on more than one occasion... although i respect the FC as a whole, and i'm sure its not representative of the entire FC given they are a very large company and there are bound to be a few bad apples.

Just did a CT with these guys as well, lots of shout bickering and a bunch of kids trying their hardest to be funny and failing at doing so.

Had the displeasure of being stuck with several members of this free company in CT. I have never meet a worst group in this game. Their tank Lady Gaga and Ruan Ares were beyond terrible and caused wipe after wipe.

All I can say is thank god these people are on Excalibur and not Hyperion.

Please tell us more about how someone tanking the bone dragon in the middle where it is designed to be tanked is a bad thing. Our FC members were respectful the whole run and they have screenshots of what is basically a bunch of monkeys losing their minds in Alliance chat. Bad form on you IMO.

I was talking about Lady Gaga failing at tanking the Iron Giants and Wiping us on KB, but please go on about this other issue.

People can be human, miss a provoke, or healers start off with medica spam and you've burnt your provoke already, and that can be all she wrote. I talked to Lady Gaga about this and she said it was not intentional, and she did her best to stop the iron giants from cleaving the raid. I have had some difficulty there in the past, sometimes you just have bad luck.

Upon reading the chatlogs screenshotted from alliance chat during the raid, you REALLY don't want me to post those here, a lot of people could wind up banned for harrassment.

It's actually tenbux.

PBC is part of an already established community that has an admission fee elsewhere on the internet. It should be noted that while we are all part of SA in some way, we generally do not have direct affiliation with other groups of "goons" you may have heard of. We try to be friendly, generally speaking.

I appreciate the response. I understand you're a large FC, and presumably have some bad apples. And even good apples occasionally have bad days. But I see that all of those people are still in your FC, so I assume you chose not to do anything about their behavior. That's unfortunate.

I've been saying since 1.0 that the community is the best thing about FFXIV. But that was the single worst experience I've had in FFXIV. When both other groups are forced to quit because of the abuse from 1 particular group, then that's saying something.

If you have any questions for me, I'd be happy to answer them, either here on these forums or elsewhere.

I ran with a group of Something Awful gamers in Rift [Everything is Fine] who took the same stance that has been described here. I have nothing bad to say about them I had a lot of fun and they were all very skilled gamers. I think that anyone who is affiliated with SA gets profiled as a troll just for having a clan tag that falls under that sites umbrella and it’s often NOT the case more times than it is, at least in my experience.

That’s not to say that every grouip doesn’t have its trolls, I have run into an equal number of them from guilds NOT affiliated with SA (in several games not just XIV) as I have who were. I’m not here to defend them as I don’t know anyone in PBC, but I have had good experiences with SA guilds in the past and I thought it would be relevant to chime in with that to this thread.

I would pose this question to “BigDawg” however.

If Lady Gaga has NOT been affiliated with PBC or any other Something Awful group of gamers, would you have been as quick to shout “troll” or would you be more patient and maybe tried to help the player or the situation in a different manner?

I thought you guys practically had a full FC. Why would you need to recruit?

I'm kind of confused by this one myself to be honest. Apparently no one wants to have a friendly chat and the world forums are only for recruiting or something, I guess?

PBC has pretty strict rules but we also don't kick people for one night of bad behavior, people have off days and with a group this large we can't really afford to be un-christian or vengeful.
