More nonviolent gameplay - like farming (food, not gil)! :)

So first disclaimer, I think the crafting and gathering options in this game are fantastic so far, but hear me out before the pitchforks and torches go up.

I have several friends and family members who enjoy games like Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing, essentially they like games that don't have to do with violence. While I'd hardly call XIV a violent game, certainly not everyone is into dragon slaying and world saving. And while I'm sure they'd easily find a home in XIV doing solely crafting, something like farming could be a whole game within itself and fit in very nicely in the gathering/crafting/housing system. Imagine starting off doing chores in a place like Summerford Farms, and once you join a guild with housing, eventually running a garden on larger plots of land.

Anyway, just my thoughts.

You have my vote of agreement if they also add in features like beastmen coming over and burning the farm and house to the ground while the pacifist peeps watch from afar and we can zoom into their eyes.

If it takes absolutely no development/design resources away from combat-oriented gameplay, fine.
Unfortunately, resources are limited and developing content as you suggest would hinder other aspects of game development. So I say let ppl interested in purely non-violent games go play them and leave Final Fantasy to the people who like slaying dragons, etc.

nono and no. already fresh meat on PvP is lol cause "ppl would feel strange on killing some1" meh. what are your friends? vegans? extreme catholics? the world is failing.

I'm all for more non-combat-related content ^_^! This game's crafting system is one of its strong points and I really wish they expanded it.

You two seem to be a bit out of the loop in terms of what's coming to the game. Everything the OP requested is actually in the works and there is MUCH more non-combat related content slated for release beyond that.

The Final Fantasy series became quite popular for it's non-combat side content and mini-games. FFXIV is no exception. If you don't like that then that's fine. But attacking the OP for requesting something that is very clearly in line with the design philosophy of this game only makes you look foolish.

Totally agree with you, OP, but Yoshi doesn't. He stated from the beginning as soon as he took over that Battle Classes and Content are uber alles.

It's the reason he gave the shaft to crafters and gatherers so hard. Who wants to do anything besides battle anyway bro?! /sigh

Millions of gil truly IS a low price. If its some super high amount for you, you don't know or have never tried to get any.

100 million is a lot for most. But you're not supposed to get it alone, either.

100% in agreeance. Unfortunately Square doesn't seem to give two flips about the non-combat players. Things that they want are constantly back-burnered to ensure more toys are dropped on the floor for the pew pew people to play with. Can you imagine what these forums would have looked like if Darklight gear had been priced at 100,000 tomes for a single piece? Hey! Gives them something to work for right? Just because it is housing does NOT make it less important to the playerbase. It just makes it less important to the players Square cares about.

I hate it when I am playing Call of Duty and everyone just starts shooting each other.

Agree with the OP.

Would be really nice if in the future we can gradually starting to have more non-combat or mild-combat related mini-games like some kind of farming games, card games like Triple Triad, some variants of Blitzball (maybe "choco-ball"?), a mini-game involves digging (in deserts or other places, with or without chocobo), raising chocobo, gobues, or shopuffs, monster arena, or minions arena, minions racing, some kind of beach or under-water mini-game, a jumping mini-game would also be nice (which the game already has in one of its quest), growing materias, gambling, or catching butterfly, dodging thunders, etc.. (maybe not the last two.., but you get the idea)

Yeah, when I 1st went to the botanist guild I was amazed with its size and thought that we will be doing some growing/harvesting of plants. But no.

I hope we'll have more leisurely activities and mini games, but if they can't pull of housing due to server issues what hope do we have pf farming.
