Greetings. I understand, that data centers was created to make game less lagging, but some of my friends say, that game become more lagging after these changes. Does someone have same thoughts, problems?

no
actually its more smooth if i must say
Nope. and all the hiccups i'd been experiencing before are gone.
The only thing I have noticed post-2.1 is that the many loading screens are taking a bit longer to finish, well, loading. On average it's at least 10-20 seconds longer than it was before for me. I play on PS3 but haven't dealt too much with lag and whatnot. However, even with the loading screens taking longer, the game is playing much more smoothly now which is a plus.
It should be noted that the new 'Data Centre' groupings are just a way of clumping servers into smaller groups on the character selection screen/lobby server - the actual physical data centres for the servers are still the same old ones in Japan and Canada (this is basically confirmed on the Lodestone in the 'Character Creation Restrictions' updates that SE regularly posts, which still list servers as under 'Japan Data Centre' and 'NA/EU Data Centre'). In any event, it definitely seems to be having an effect at least on cutting login queues, which is only a good thing. :)
No problems here, might be your equipment lol
I've gotten an increased amount of lag since the 2.1 patch.
The game is still a lagfest, depending on where you are.
Here in Socal for instance it's incredibly bad.
Never had an issue until after 2.1. Now I get frequent lag spikes in DF and everyone in the DF says the same.
Try defragging the computer / PS3 harddrive... On the PS3 Freezing thread, there is a link to a video that teaches you how to force cleaning the PS3 and defragging the HDD.
For good reason. Just about every other AAA MMO provides at least two data centers, on both the west and east coasts of America. AT LEAST.
Sqenix half assed it and took the cheap way out with one data center located in Vancouver.
That means people in California have to send packets 1/4 of the way around the planet to reach the server. And it's even worse for some people who are unfortunate enough to be even further away.
I use pingzapper for the lag. We try our ps3 once in awhile to see if things have gotten better. They haven't for us at least. :X (socal TWC)
Lag??? Not me. I just straight up disconnect. I am either playing smoothly or not playing at all. I think it might be only affecting PS3 users (myself included). The PS4 version really needs to get here asap.
Way more lag after 2.1, but I assume it's mostly because a lot of people have come back, and the servers are busy.
This is most likely the case at the moment. Though if their servers weren't hosted about as far away from all major centers as possible it would help. While I hate that centralized servers are in the Texas area these days (Oceania!), it'd still be better than Montreal.
Meh, the gameplay is chunking, one of the pipes between me and the servers is pretty full a lot of the time, feels like they've added the bare minimum of capacity at the servers. The same way Coil gets full on Tuesdays on Tonberry, we're going to get chunky performance in other areas simply due to being a higher population world. Unfortunately this seems like the status quo for Tonberry.Quote:

Seems a lot better for me especially on Titan EX and HM.
Because it is. Before 2.1 came out, I had zero issues. After it comes out I get lag spikes in Duty Finder. The only variable that changed was SE data center reshuffle. And yea, I'm not the only one: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...Fast-Forwarded
I'm getting significantly more lag since the patch on Lamia. My connection used to be Excellent about 80-85% of the time pre-patch. Now I never get above Good, and it's dipped to Poor once or twice.
Seriously I've been lagging non-stop in-game. Every since the Dec 11 update, i've been getting awful graphical lag as well as server lag from the Dec 17 update. It's driving me nuts.
With every update recently something bad happens.
im experiencing more lagg post 2.1 in DF groups most likely
as i dont lagg at all in binding coil for example and other duties that DF cannot be used in them
