Please, PLEASE, get some DPS accessories! It's your job to do damage and kill people, not hold aggro on a boss and mitigate attacks. If I see another PLD with Tank accessores and Shield Oath up, I'm gonna scream.

First I have ever heard of this. I've been tanking since release. Kinda hate that I'm the first to respond to this how to tank thread. Lol
He means in PvP.
Yeah, I'm totally talking about taking bosses in the PVP subforum. -_- You're JUST the kinda people I was talkin about.
"im gona harass heals"
Proceeds to smack all sleeping targets, gets kited by the healer for 4 minutes, and ends the game with under 1000 damage done.
In just under 300 games played I haven't been Covered by a PLD once. At this point I consider any tank who can go a whole game without breaking a 30s sleep to be legendary status.
Oh man Nenin, I agree. I watch streams of others playing, and I see so many DPS and tanks smacking all the sleeping targets. In their defense though, it's been very rare to see WHM/BLMs mark the target they are casting sleep on. Just making a macro to mark the sleeping target, and say in party that you are sleeping a target should help reduce this.
Drat, I just bought HQ PvP "tank" gear to prepare myself for more PvP, including accessories. Besides what was already mentioned, does anyone have any more tips for a paladin tank in PvP? I feel very much like a fish out of water. I'm used to being the one under attack, but in PvP no one attacks me unless I'm the last man standing. I'm used to building hate, but in PvP there is no hate! Any suggestions on how I can fill my new role? Very much appreciated!
Build player hate by throwing out stuns on anyone who isn't already asleep or rooted. Then proceed to slap the healer repeatedly, until he sprints away crying. When you get to that point, just jump on the current kill target, while glaring at the healer threateningly, letting him know that you can shield lob and jump back on him at a moments notice. Keep that fear instilled deep in his heart.
Yeah I can't see why anyone isn't in a full damage build in pvp, sorry you've had people that think they should be using shield oath ...
Cover is all of about useless in PvP. It's range is far to short to actually help you for any real amount of time. Unless your asleep, and then me running over to pop cover is like saying, "Hey we're all lumped up now, come sleep me too." If your bound then chances are by the time I get in cover range your moving again and breaking cover. Tanks don't have a teleport of any kind, otherwise this might happen more.
Seriously, marking targets is by far the simplest form of communication and can really make a team seem to actually be a team. Mark the sleepers, and more importantly mark the focus. Saying, "Ok get the BLM first." only works if there's only one BLM. Saying, "Ok kill casters." when facing a team of BLM, BLM, WHM, WAR is simply fail.
Use markers ... win.
done ~ 200 matches as war q'ing with drg so we got a pug heal and a 2nd dps, ~80% win rate so far
for some reason, most ppl ask tanks to "harass heal" which is plain retarded.
war's do sick burst dmg, if not for multiple cc's or benediction, war can kill anyone in under 5-6sec alone
pld on the other hand are good to annoy ppl with no cd stuns, flashes and cover on focus target.
overall, i'd say the outcome of any pvp game, if weightd in %, depends on: your healer (40%), dps (40%), tank (20%).
Cover is a direct counter to physical heavy teams who rely on Holmgang to initiate their burst.
I always mark the primary target and discuss the general CC plan but plans change. It's virtually impossible for me to mark every slept target due to the AOE nature of CC. Do you really need me to mark every target hit by Freeze to know not to hit them? Freeze doesn't even have a primary target like Sleep. It's not like I have ample time to tab mark when I have a DRG, BRD, and WAR chasing me around.
Well, one benefit of having tanking gear in PVP is that people will ignore you. You can basically do all kinds of hell when you are invisible lol (well, limited edition kind of hell...)
