"I'm bad so I'll blame it on lag"
That's not what she's saying. She's saying that the fight leaves little room for error and adding in lag doesn't help. I know the feeling I went too do Ifrit HM on my healer and I had some lag thanks to family watching movies and it hurt me that fight. In a extreme mode fight that's just going to be alot worse.
there was bigger lag in 1.0 primals you just dont know the fight well enough.
But even at 300-350 ms, the 6 way landslide is extremely easy to avoid...?
To be completely honest, the new latency fixes have significantly reduced the lag factor.
Landslides are the easiest part of this fight. They might be in 5 directions but they're just as easy to avoid as hard mode.
The whole thing is basically the same but with some new or teaked mechanics, a couple of adds and a higher dps check. If you can beat Titan HM you can beat this and like HM all it takes is a bit of practice.
With the new changes, even 300-400 latency is fine. If you have more than that, you're outside of the internet requirements listed on the game box. That's not the game's fault.
I just got done with Titan extreme. Everything, including the landslides, is predictable and systematic. Even WITH lag, you just dodge. This isn't an issue.
Think the point is......With Titan Hard it was:
"0.3 sec makes it impossible!"
With Titan Extreme, now it's:
"0.1 sec makes it impossible!"
With Ultima Hard it's:
"0.1 sec makes it impossible!"
Seriously..let's stop blaming lag now - I thought people said: "other MMOs calculate at 0.1 sec, so why doesn't XIV?" Now that it does there's still seemingly "lag issues" that make it hard/impossible to dodge..?
I can't even try Titan Extreme! Duty Finder waiting 3 hours so far. :/
Titan EM's landslide is in no way harder to dodge than HM, you're just more likely have to move more often. If you can dodge HM you can dodge EM.
all these encounters are designed with one shot mechanics.
its just poor design on their part
The last patch should have helped dramatically with the dodging issue. It can't completely fix it as the problem itself is in the coding of the game (there should never, ever be an instance where you are out of an AOE and still get hit). Ping isn't the only factor in determining success. Folks in other threads that have used trace routes to pinpoint issues have noticed packet loss. So, that can also lead to getting hit when you were out.
At this point the core problem is not likely to be addressed further than reducing the delay between position updates. If you're still unable to dodge, then I would suggest either a tunneling service, or (if your experience is poor enough) finding a different MMO until the issue is for sure fixed (netcode redone) here... which again, isn't likely to happen.
I played un-tunneled and from Australia, you just need to practice so you react faster to each set of plumes. Landslide timing is very easy though, there's no excuse for getting hit by that.
If i am focused i never get hit by a plume.
I beat Titan/Ifrit extreme 2 days ago I didn't notice any lag on plumes/eruptions. Seemed more responsive even on regular hm titan now. Whatever they did on the servers worked.
In HM with the change in latency I went from eating 90% of the plumes to never eating a plume (well, ok, just once since the patch hit). I think that is a substantial difference unless I just had FF enlightenment! IMO the way the Titan fight works it is going to be to some degree a test of your connection.
I have a question about what we are calling lag. Because like many others have posted with regular lag you can dodge ahead of time and know the fight and survive. But what about the instance server freezing up everyone on the playing field and you see stuff seconds after it happened? Not delayed like normal lag and it goes off, I'm talking total lockup then all a sudden your 5 seconds in the future.
I see it alot in AK on the Demon Wall and repel. It's so bad in there I just stand once repel goes off and wait for the knockback. Strangely alot of this stuff begins to happen right before they need to do instance server maintenance for the week.
Something else is at work here besides good ole lag and I would like to know what that is. Lag I hear ya, dodge better and watch for what the fight is asking of you. But freezes and lockups I do not get. Is it related to instance server memory corruption like SE pointed out a long time ago?
Not every primal fight got the fix. I doubt they did anything to EM fights yet because the .1 is being trial tested on Titan HM and PVP exclusively. If all goes well and servers can take it they may move it out to other areas of the content. No telling when or if.
Being in Australia, using Battleping with 170mms ping, I still find myself dying to Titan Ex plumes constantly, even when I am so obviously out of the areas on my screen. It's utterly ridiculous that I can kill Twintania with my group, but can't get past Titan Ex with its unforgiving mechanics.
Titan EM is a ridiculous fight, basically have to memorize it to have any success. And this is coming from someone with every EM weapon :p
It's.. a little much. Challenging content is good though
In 1.0 it was pure lag.
In 2.0 it is rubber banding.
IMO rubber banding is more difficult to "prepare in advance" than lag, cos for the latter you can always run in advance when you know an ability is gonna come up next. For rubber banding, you never know how long you will freeze up and zoom into the future. Most people experience in 2.0 is likely rubber banding.
my ping is between 180 to 230, and i only get hit in that fight if i decide to move to late. the only thing that gave me trouble is the bomb timings in phase 5 were a little different like around 1 second later compared to titan hm. if you live in US and u got 40 ping, then u got no excuse! i live in asia and thats why i got so much low ping.
if you want less lag try battle ping
Necro post, pay attention people
Don't blame the ping.. I used to do that, but now I understand I was just being bad. When u practise enough, u will be able to dodge with ease.
I play with 315-330 ping on good days. I sell Titan ex and the other two ex, what does that make me? ^^
Lag 100% is there, but don't let it stop you, think of it as a game mechanic if you must.
White Knights to the rescue!
I don't think I've ever seen so many people complain about a game's lag on a singular boss fight as this game. At some point you have to wonder, is it people being bad or is SE just bad?
Took 3 weeks to learn how to do it but farming Titan Ex now with 250ms. High ping don't mean much and I am subject to the same server "lag" as everyone else.
And just for the record, BLMs don't suck and you don't need BRDs either. My current farming group routinely clears with 3 BLM 1 MNK.
People just need practice...
Ah no.
It is just reality. I'm not talking about ignorant who comes and say lel no lag you just bad. I'm talking about admitting that there is lag but at the same time not having it as the end of everything. I live in Australia, Perth City. Without VPN I ping 450-500, with vpn on a good day 315~. It is a problem, which I feel every time I log in but I refuse to let it ruin my fun or stand between me and my imaginary pixelz lootz.
The worst part of being a player with non optimal latency is affecting everybody else's survival. I've been avoiding attempting titan ex seriously for a long long time and today my FC finally actually gathered together to attempt titan ex (most of them anyway). After a few attempts, my FC finally told me to go to the back and have half the arena to my own for pre-heart plumes as a BLM and I finally stopped dying to stacked plumes 5 steps away from them repeatedly. If I stack with them, three things can happen: low chance of me surviving, high chance of me dying to at least 3x weights, some chance of someone dying because of my timing placed the plume too early and increased the size. On the latter, I know that my one plume hitting the others wouldn't kill the others which means they got hit by their own plumes too but it doesn't change the fact that it messed with the floors and had my plume wasn't stacked so out of place, maybe they could have just taken one weight damage that wouldn't kill them. Or whatever.
We practiced only until we can get to post heart a few times and then everyone stopped. I have no idea how I'm gonna deal with double plumes when the strategy is synchronized moving to stacking again. I just know that I will die a lot to this and I am eventually gonna catch flak for it from the other players if I ever DF/PF titan to that part. We havent been to T5 that much either, divebombs sounds worrisome too. These days I end up just logging in after t1-t4 to do daillies and spending the rest of the day wondering if I should press that 'join' button (mostly no).
