Seems odd that you didn't release a thief/rogue style class at launch, considering it's a typical vanilla class.
When can we expect this? :(

It is odd..considering it's one of Final Fantasy's original jobs (Warriors of Light/Dawn Champions etc.)
Same day that we get RDMs.
Soon™ .
Please look forward to it
Probably not til version 3.0, since they exhausted their resources on SUM/SCH :I
Im personally hoping for a musketeer or red mage class myself~
THF please
Thief should have been in the game instead of Archer.
Then Archer and Bard would be Jobs.
Arguably Bard should have been a caster class by itself, but oh well.
I will sell my sould for a Dark Knight class that plays like a Tank and uses 2H swords.
I rather have the dark knight from FF11 back again with it's scythes. I also would like a Musketeer or gun type using class.
I want thief as a Gun using job
I don't think Dark Knight should really be a tank. High health maybe, but they have always been the antithesis to Paladin, so a DPS would be expected. Maybe give MRD GreatSword or Scyths as weapons with Axes, and have Axes continue into WAR as is, but have GS/Scyth branch over to Dark Knight at 30, bot still always being MRD. Just my thought.
no need to rush it'll be behind a virtual paywall that we have to pay 100 million gil to unlock it and every other new Job/class~!
And to clarify, would love DRK, but as this is FF I do not think DRK is the proper theme for a Tank. Great DPS theme though.
And on topic, I would love them to take daggers from GLD and make a new class, lets say Rouge, that branches into Thife, Which I thought might be fun as a utility/dodge based Tank, and Ninja, which should be a bloody DPS darn it! That was one of my few gripes with XI, how NIN turned into a dodge tank. Such a thing makes moresense coming from THF, they even had the 2hr for it in FFXI, so I think SE could make that interesting in FFXIV. Not that I demand it, but I think it could be fun. ^.^
Since in the coral tower you have signs for the gun class I would guess sometime after that if at all.
They said that they'd release new jobs in numbered patches and raise level cap in expansions. It could be as soon as 2.2 that we see a new job added.
There is a thf in moogle mog, one of the moogle's is a thief, that matches up with this old wiki: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/G..._Mog_XII_(Boss) from a different FF Game,
So we need THF to come out next!!
i'm sure ninja is coming in the first, check the armor for monk of the crystal tower! it's a ninja armor! i want ninja!
The will be a bland knockoff of monk with daggers cause this game/community can't handle unique job like period otherwise blm would still be a glass cannon.
Don't monks already kinda fulfill the role of thief mechanically? << Steady, over time damage from the back/flanks in light armor?
mmm i prefer RDM > THF. I check FFXIV's youtube page daily as i await for them to tease a new class/job.
Oh, there we go. New vote. THF as the dagger class splitting to the DNC dodge tank, and NIN dual wield DPS. Oh that sounds fun too ^.^
Now that I am thinking about it. Rouge could make for a full set of Jobs, DPS Ninja, Dodge Tank Thf, and Support TP Healer DNC. Don't like how things have to be a bit more ridgid to fit in the triad, but I like how varied a Rouge class could get.
I said this before on another post but..
I dug up my old post about Yoshi-P's plans for releasing new class/jobs as Major updates.
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...s-Release-Plan.
as you can see we can expect them later since Musketeer class is his current priority
Also before any Job is released they must have a City-State to originate from since each Job originates from different City States whether they are current or Ancient city States.
Radz-at-Han seems to be a good place to have Thief Job originate from there since current hints show that Radz-at-Han could be a Chinese themed City State.
Radz-at-Han is located across the Jade Sea.
I think it was weird at first that some of the "classic" vanilla jobs were not here at the beginning, however now I think it's not so bad to see them later on. I think we are use to having those classics up front, because they tend to be the catalyst jobs that become something more powerful. But I have no doubt we'll see them sooner rather than later.
Question is, we'll they go down the long list of 30 something class/jobs in the final fantasy universe and employ each one day? Or will they be responsible for introducing a totally new job all together? Time will tell! Looking forward to the future is an understatement.
